8. Kayori
Chapter Eight
KAYORI
It has been five days since my encounter with Praise.
I still woke up in cold sweats, hard nipples, and a wet yoni.
I stayed away from him during my work hours and even that was hard.
Since I went to the gun range with Stone instead of Praise that told me that I had him shook.
That was the plan, I didn’t want to mix up my work relationship with my boss let alone have drama and issues with his ghetto fabulous baby momma.
It was so hard because Praise woke something up in me.
The inner confidence I once had before my car accident.
I use to know and felt the security within myself.
I knew I looked good; I also knew that my persona was unmatched.
When Praise walked up to me in that kitchen and tried to have one up on me, I turned those tables fast. I didn’t know how far I would actually take things but apparently, I took it over the top.
Since I was trained to carry my gun, I had been taking Mattea to the park and mall.
I did an outing with her every day in order to stay away from that house.
My plan was to work another two months that way I didn’t create such a tight bond with Mattea.
I already found myself being very fond of her in so many ways.
I wanted to talk to her parents about getting her in some kind of speech therapy to help her develop her words a little better.
Mattea just turned three so I figured it would eventually get better.
So in the meantime, I coached her with sounding simple words out.
However, I still would mention it to both of them when the time was right.
I spent most of my free time at the library, using their computers to look for a job.
Whatever I found that was available and paid well I was going to take.
I knew for a fact I would be uncomfortable with Praise until I quit working for him.
The connection between us was too strong.
He made my body feel things it hadn’t felt in a very long time.
His touch, smell, and presence was enough to send me over the edge.
I had to have a lot of strength that night he played with my pussy.
I wanted to drag him in my room and let him break my back and get my pussy tuned up.
Standing up to stretch and get out of my thoughts of Praise.
I gathered all my belongings which were my MCM purse and notepad with my pen.
Once I had all my stuff inside my purse I walked out of the library into the hot-ass Vegas sun.
“Kayori?”
I froze in my steps already knowing the voice before I saw the man that I once cared for. I broke his heart and I never thought I would see him again. Closing my eyes and finally turning around to face him, all those old painful memories came crashing through my brain.
“Brian?”
My face held no emotion as he showed plenty.
He was still so handsome yet geeky as he pushed his reading glasses up closer to his eyes.
Brian dreads reached to the middle of his back now, neatly twisted going into a ponytail.
His brown eyes shined bright, eyes smiling, he walked up to me closing the distance.
Hugging me tightly, I appreciated his smell.
Finally hugging him back just as tight I stepped back to get a good look at him.
“How have you been Brian?”
“Better now that I’m finally seeing you again, beautiful.”
I smiled brightly at him, I knew he was sincere and I cursed myself for doing him so wrong and letting him go when I was at my complete worse.
When I got into that car accident and spent three months in the hospital, Brian was there through it all.
He catered to me right along with Meshalay and loved me through it all.
When I got out of the hospital, I still was bound to my wheelchair, couldn’t walk, and became bitter with my life.
Whenever I was given a mirror to look at myself I became more and more uncomfortable with myself not knowing how the outside world would accept or even look at me.
I started treating the closest person to me badly.
Not appreciating the lengths that Brian would go to see me smile.
He would bathe me, dress me up and take me out on walks in my wheelchair.
All of that could not bring me out of my funk.
I broke up with him and told him to go find another woman.
A better-looking woman, I felt that I didn’t deserve him.
I was scared and scarred on the outside and on the inside.
I stopped loving myself because I didn’t like the outside reflection of me.
I felt like if I couldn’t love myself, then how could I love another.
Brian was broken how I broke things off he called for six months straight sometimes crying, begging, and asking me to let him be there for me.
I didn’t bend. Once I start walking again, I changed my number and blocked him all the way out of my life.
I started talking to no good niggas who would say foul things about my face and body.
I would let them use me up, sleep with me and kick me to the curb.
It got to the point where I left niggas alone altogether and practiced celibacy until I could love myself better and see and accept the woman I was now and not who I used to be.
“You live out here?”
I asked as I felt a little uncomfortable around him now. I felt guilty as hell for the way I did him. Suddenly I wanted to end the whole conversation.
“Yes, me and my girlfriend and son moved up here a year ago. I’m a doctor now finally finished school so we moved up here since my girl is a traveling nurse.”
His girl, his son. Damn, he leveled up majorly, he was a doctor and he found a woman to match his career.
I was actually happy I left him, the route I was going only would’ve prolonged him from blossoming into the man he needed to be.
Looking down at my French-tipped toes I smiled and tried to excuse myself.
“That’s good to hear, I’m so happy for you Brian! It was so good seeing you.”
I offered another smile as he smiled back at me genuinely. Brian was never ignorant and he always told me how my scars didn’t define me. To him, I was beautiful Kayori with long pretty hair. Back in the day, he used to run his hands through my long thick hair until we both fell asleep.
“It was good seeing you to Kay Kay… can I get your number maybe take you out to lunch or something? We gotta catch up.”
Those brown eyes of his were very hopeful, I saw no harm in us getting together and catching up.
It would be nice to know someone other than my best friend and her illegal friends.
I gave Brian my number, we hugged and went our separate ways.
Once I got in my car I took in a deep breath and exhaled.
Brian looked so fine, even better than the last time I saw him all those years back.
His girl had better be happy that I was not the type of woman to break up happy homes.
Starting up my car, I chose to play Sade just so I could vibe.
I needed to set my goals and motion and not lose sight of them.
I was determined to buy a new laptop and a desk for my room when I received my first check.
I needed to start working on my dream and that was writing, it helped with so much like my anxiety.
I also was in love with the craft itself.
Sometimes we as humans could get so comfortable with where we were currently in life and put our dreams on hold.
That’s not what I wanted, seeing Brian pumped me up to do better so I could feel better not only for my goals but for myself.
When I made it home, I spoke to Lay and Stone who was cuddled up on the couch.
They were such love birds, they stayed up underneath each other.
Making my way to my room, I stripped down and showered.
It was Saturday and all I had planned was relaxing, catching up on shows, and writing out my short-term and long-term goals.
I was in my zone listening to music while looking up at the ceiling.
I thought of my mom every single day. Some days the thought of her brought a smile to my face.
Then there were days like today, I thought of her and the tears would flow.
I would lay on my back for hours at a time and just cry.
I felt so lost without her or my brother here.
I often felt jealous of my brother for being able to be back with my mom.
They left me down here to fend for myself.
I missed the two so much, my mom was like my best friend.
I shared things with her that I didn’t see myself sharing with another.
A tap at my door caused me to sit up and clear my throat.
“Just a minute!”
I yelled as I turned the radio down and ran into my bathroom to throw cold water on my face hoping that it made my red puffy eyes go down. I went back to sit Indian-style in the middle of my bed.
“Come in!”
Meshalay walked in with a cheesy smile.
“Bitch! I oughta slap you! When were you going to tell me that Praise had it bad for you heifer!”
