Chapter 4
Four
Taylor
After the reception, Cameron and I went back to our suite. Heather wanted Mia to spend the night with her and Eric, and I didn’t object. Despite my personal feelings towards Cameron’s parents, they are hands-on grandparents and dote on Mia every chance they get.
I have to keep a close eye on them because, as they spend more time with her, I also have to make sure that’s all they are doing. Indoctrination starts early.
I slip off my shoes and collapse on the sofa as Cameron makes his way to the bar.
He pours himself a tumbler of whiskey and a glass of wine for me.
He gives me the wine glass and sits at a comfortable distance from me.
I want to confront him about what happened tonight, but I also know it’s pointless; Cameron won’t tell me anything.
I’m also afraid that what happened tonight is going to cause more problems between me and Jamie. We already had one confrontation before, and that was a nice-nasty conversation between us.
With Cameron upping the ante, I don’t think Jamie will hide her feelings very long, considering it was her wedding day. Cameron and Ethan are in a dick-slanging contest with each other, and it’s only a matter of time before more people get hurt.
“That was a nice wedding,” I start.
Cameron nods and sips from his tumbler. “It was.”
Silence follows, and I don’t know why I’m surprised.
Cameron never says anything more than what he’s required to say.
If it’s a yes or no question, he’ll give a yes or no answer with no follow-up explanation.
Nothing is ever grey with him, just black and white.
No one can ever call him a Chatty Patty.
Against my better judgment, I can’t let this go. “Can we talk about what happened at the reception?”
“It was a beautiful reception,” Cameron replies.
“Cam, you damn well know what I’m referring to.” I press him. Jamie pressed on as if the reception of her dreams was still happening. She and Ethan didn’t even get a chance to have a first dance. “What happened tonight?”
Cameron takes another sip and turns his head towards me. “Nothing.”
“Nothing? About a hundred officers suddenly left the reception, including Ethan, the groom.” My voice is calm, but the anger inside of me is building. “And I’m supposed to believe you when you say nothing happened?”
“Taylor...” Cameron’s voice is low, and his eyes darkened. He’s warning me, and I’m not deterred.
Just like how Cameron warns me to stay out of it, I let Cameron know I’m all game on it. “Cam, in case you forgot, I own a business with your sister. If you had something to do with what happened tonight, I need to know this.”
“Why?” Cameron cuts me off.
“What?” I’m surprised by his reaction.
“Why do you need to know? What happened tonight won’t impact your business with Jamie.” Cameron replies.
“How do you know that?” I challenge him as I try to remain calm. Cameron is oblivious to what he did; it almost feels like everything is a joke to him. “Ethan had to leave at the beginning of his reception. He couldn’t even get a bite of food.”
“He had a to-go plate made for him, as did all of the other officers who were there,” Cameron replies. “As well as the Krispy Kreme donut box parting gifts. Whatever happened tonight will not impact their all-paid honeymoon to Italy, a wedding gift from us.”
Whatever plan Cameron had, he executed it with surgical precision.
I also know whatever plan it was, it was payback for what happened at Mia’s birth.
While I’m still angry at what happened, and neither Jamie nor Ethan offered any apology, I still don’t believe this petty back-and-forth is going to solve anything other than offer more heartbreak.
I was not going to get any answers from Cameron, and I doubt Jamie would want to talk about how her brother ruined her wedding reception. Knowing Cameron, he would tell her that’s all he did. He could’ve made sure the wedding never took place at all.
“This is how everything will be, huh?” I sip my wine and shake my head. “You do some fuckshit and I’m just left in the dark about all of it as usual.”
“We’ve gone over this a million times, angel.” Cameron’s voice softens, and I feel my wall crumble. “You want to know everything, and for what? What will you do with that information? Is it going to change your lifestyle? Is it going to give you a heads up? What exactly do you need to know?”
“I need to know if I’ll be in danger again? Or will Mia be in danger again?” My voice hardens. “In case you need a refresher about what happened just a few months ago?”
“And that problem is in the process of being solved,” Cameron’s voice is cooler than the underside of a pillow. “But until it is, this conversation about what I do, what I’m going to do, and what is done is over.” He places the tumbler down. “Is there anything else?”
I want to throw my drink at Cameron, but I have a feeling he’ll just laugh in that sexy laugh he does, and I’ll end up sucking him off. My mind wanders to the interaction he had with Makayla earlier, and I can’t shake the uneasiness of it all.
I made it clear to Cameron I couldn’t be with him because he went back into the game, as if he truly left. I just hope my jealousy when he’s seen with other women can be contained. I’m not too sure how I’ll handle that. “I guess so.”
Cameron reaches over and rubs my hand with his thumb.
“Angel, I don’t want us to worry about what’s going on.
Jamie and Ethan will be fine. They’re leaving tomorrow for Italy for two weeks.
Mia’s staying the night with her grandparents.
It’ll be business as usual at the shops.
” He kneels in front of me. “We’ll be fine. ” He rests his head on my lap.
I thread my fingers through his silky brown hair, and I’m lost within him. This position reminds me of all the times he would lick my pussy in this very position. I also realize Cameron knows this as well. “You keep saying that, Cam...”
Cameron raises his head and locks eyes with me. His brown eyes softened, and I feel everything was all right in the world. “I’ll make sure you and Mia will always be safe. You have people watching you all the time. Everything is covered.”
Cameron told me last year that some people from the community were looking after us.
Others were undercover cops on his payroll.
I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
“You talk a good game,” My voice is low, “but you can’t always watch me.
You can’t always protect us. At some point, you won’t be able to. ”
“I always will.” Cameron looks at me as if he wants to say something, but he chooses not to. Instead, he nudges my legs apart and reaches up to pull my thong panties down. He hikes up my gown and kisses my inner thighs, but then he stops. “Do you trust me?”
Cameron’s voice is full of vulnerability and uncertainty, something he has never had. He always has been a man full of confidence and grace, but even Cameron knows what he’s doing has grave repercussions. No matter how hard people try, they can’t stop all of the danger.
Tesh doesn’t need to use a cane when she walks, but it’s clear she’s not as quick as she used to be because of the shooting. Ayesha is dead, and Cameron has struggled to find another chef he could trust, despite Tesh’s recommendations.
And then there’s my family. My parents and Alicia are dead. I still have plenty of extended family, but my Granny has made it very clear where she stands with Cameron. If she could, she would kill him herself.
“Angel...?” Cameron’s deep voice brings me back to the present. “...do you trust me?”
I know the answer – I do and I don’t. I trust Cameron as far as I can throw him, and that’s not very far. Too many people close to us have died, and that body count will only go higher. Even when Cameron’s vengeance tour is over, I don’t think too much will change.
But I also know he’ll do whatever he can to protect Mia and me, even if he has to go through harsh measures to do so. I’m uncertain about Cameron, and I’m even more uncertain about us. I only trust he can protect us as much as he can, no matter the cost.
I want to share my world with you. I need you to trust me first. Trust that I’ll always take care of you. Trust that I don’t want you involved with my businesses. Trust it’s just me and you baby, forever.
The promise he made to me when he took me to New York rang loud in my head. He told me flat-out what the score was, and I needed to trust him. That was before everything. Several murders and just about everyone close to me gone, I still don’t know if I can.
I guess I’m still waiting for when I can’t trust him at all to completely be free of him, if I ever could be. “I don’t know,” I whisper to him.
Cameron’s eyes softened as he nestled between my thighs.
“I’ll always protect you, angel.” He cups my face and softly kisses me.
His lips are soft and warm. He’s not trying to devour me or declare ownership, but tries to ease my fears.
“I got you,” he murmurs before his lips trail down my neck.
My eyes close, and my body instantly reacts to him.
It’s like we never missed a beat with each other.
He spreads my thighs apart, and a finger strokes my pussy. I gasped and sighed as Cameron quieted me. “You trust me?” He asked.
“Cameron...” I breathed.
“See how wet I’ve made you?” He nibbled on my neck and continued to circle my clit with his fingers, feeling how slick I was. I grabbed his wrist as my body moved in unison with his fingers. “That’s it, angel...show me how you want me to take care of this pussy.”
“Fuck!” I screamed. My train of thought escaped me, and all I craved was pleasure and release. I didn’t care about messing up my expensive bridesmaid gown. Cameron’s free hand grips my chin and forces me to look at him while he’s still playing with my pussy.
“Do...you...trust...me?” He asks. His fingers are circling my clit faster and my body is wound up in tight knots. I’m about to come so hard, and it’s only by his fingers. He hadn’t given his cock to me yet.
“Cam...” I pant hard, and he shakes his head.
“I’ll let you come when I have my answer.” His brown eyes darkened, and a small, sensual smile formed on his face. “I can tell when you lie to me, angel. You don’t want to come that bad.”
“Fuck you!” I panted, and he chuckled at me. Damn him. “I can get off on my own, I don’t need you to do it.”
“But you want me to fuck you, don’t you?
” He taunts. “You love it when I play with your pussy like this, don’t you, angel?
” His deep voice covered my ears like a warm embrace, and my body quivered in response.
“You want me to fill you up and stretch out that sweet, tight pussy. I’ll give you what you want if you can give me what I need.
” He continued to play with me. “Do...you...trust...me?”
“Cameron!” I scream. My breath comes out in uncontrollable pants, and that orgasm is about to strike me.
He suddenly stopped and moved his body down between my thighs.
He covered his mouth over my pussy, and my back arched off the sofa.
He nudged me back down before he hiked one of my thighs over his shoulder.
His tongue rapidly assaulted my clit. His mouth was so hungry for me, devouring all of me, and holding me down so I couldn’t resist. He fucked me with his fingers, and now his tongue. If I were a good girl, his good girl, I would get what I really wanted next.
If only I had trusted him with my life first.
“I fucking trust you!” I screamed before I came. It wasn’t a lie, and Cameron’s chuckled response knew it wasn’t. The orgasm wrapped around my body, leaving me in a crumpled heap on the sofa. Waves upon waves of pleasure assaulted my body as I whimpered and moaned.
Cameron undid his pants long enough to pull out his hardened cock, and he swiftly entered me. My wet and tight pussy welcomed his long, thick cock. We moved in unison, stealing kisses and staring into each other’s eyes.
“There you go,” Cameron feathered my face with small kisses, “taking my dick so well.”
“Just like you taught me, baby?” My pussy clenches tighter around him, pulling him in deeper.
“Just like that,” he moaned. Cameron thrusts faster, buckling his hips against mine. I clutched at his arms, lightly scratching them as he encouraged me to come on his dick again.
“Cam...I...I...” I couldn’t get the words out before the second orgasm took over my body, coating his dick with my come, and screaming his name. Cameron thrust a few more times before he pulls out, and covers my pussy with streaks of his hot come.
He collapses on top of me and we laid together, breathless and spent. I don’t know what the future will bring us, nor do I know how long Cameron’s revenge tour will last. I just hope the damage is minimal.
For our sake.
