Chapter Ten

CORA

When I woke up the other evening, Caleb was watching me sleep. I forgot he used to do that. I smiled at him and said, "Good morning."

He leaned down and kissed me and said, "It is now." This man is capable of breaking my heart, he did it once, what is to stop him doing it again?

Today is the day of the wedding and I'm really nervous. The other night we went out for dinner with some clients and it was a fun night. Caleb doted on me all night long and I didn't feel nervous at all, but for some reason today I am.

He walks into the room and I can see him in the mirror. "Cora, you look gorgeous. That dress is beautiful." He walks toward me and stands behind me. He leans forward and kisses my neck, watching me in the mirror. "I'd like to fuck you like this, Cora. I want you to see how gorgeous you are when you come on my cock."

"Caleb don't talk like that if you are not going to follow through." I smile. I know that one day soon we will be doing exactly what he said.

"Are you sure I look okay?"

He spins me around. "I'm going to have to keep my eye on you today, you are going to be asked to dance by so many men and I don't know how I'll handle it." I laugh, he's just being stupid.

"Well, you look handsome too, Caleb, we should just stick together and then no one will try to dance with either of us. We don't have to stay long, do we?"

"No, we will eat their food, drink their drink and then leave early." He reaches into his pocket and pulls out some rings. I stare at them, they are beautiful.

"Caleb?"

"We are supposed to be married. But don't think that I don't want to be married to you, I just know that it's not the right time. We need to get to know each other better again before we commit like that. But we need to have these on for a while." He puts on a sparkling diamond ring and a small plain wedding ring. They are not huge or in anyone's face, but they suit me. I look at them.

"They're beautiful, Caleb." This is when I remember why we are doing this. To get back at his ex and his nemesis. I need to get into character, although right now I feel that I am his wife and that we will be together forever. But forever is not always promised, right?

He slides a single band on his finger and then he takes my hand. “Come on Mrs Masters, let's go to a wedding."

When we walk into the small chapel, we slide into some seats at the back. But it doesn't stop everyone turning to see who just walked in. There are a couple of women eyeing Caleb up and so I move into his body, he puts his arm around me. "I got you, babe," he says as he leans in and kisses my cheek. "I always have you."

The doors open and Tillie walks in. She is beautiful, blonde, skinny and so sophisticated. What the hell does Caleb see in me? Tillie sees Caleb and smiles, but then when I step out from behind him her face turns evil. I giggle. "Oh my god, Caleb, what the fuck were you thinking when you asked her to marry you?"

Tillie hears it and glares at me. I put my hand on Caleb's cheek, the hand with the wedding and engagement ring and turn his face to me. He's smiling at me, he knows what I am doing. I kiss him on the lips and the sound of everyone else in the church drifts away. It's just the two of us. When I open my eyes, everyone is staring at us.

"You are evil, Mrs Masters," he says loud enough for her to hear and then we both look to the front of the church, ignoring her. She stomps down the aisle and steps up next to her groom, Daly, and kisses him on the lips, until the priest coughs loud enough for us all to hear and then she steps away. I don't know how I am keeping my laugh in. This is comical. I didn't know we were going to have so much fun today. I might even stay till the end of the night.

As the ceremony progresses, Caleb and I are giggling in the back row like teenagers at their first movie. "Did you see what she did? She was doing that because I kissed you. This is farcical.” The priest asks, "Is there anyone present who doesn't want these two to be joined together in holy matrimony, speak now or forever hold your peace."

Tillie looks toward Caleb and I can’t help but laugh at her audacity. Caleb can't hold himself together either. He just shakes his head and holds up his hand with his wedding ring on. She stomps her feet and the priest carries on.

"Caleb, I think I need to get out of here, I can feel a fit of the giggles coming on and I won't be able to keep them inside."

He smiles at me. "Come on, let's sneak out before they announce them as bride and groom." We both get up and without making too much noise, we slink outside. Once the air hits me I start laughing. "Oh my god that was so funny. Did she invite you so that you would stop the wedding? Hilarious."

Caleb laughs too. "I think you're right, I think she did. She would do something like that."

"Well I don't think it will improve your relationship with Daly anyway." We walk toward the car.

"Fuck him." He opens the door for me and I slide inside.

"Where are we going?" I ask as he hands me my seatbelt.

"It's a surprise. We will be back in time for the hotel, don't worry." He smiles and closes the door, walking around to the driver's side and sliding inside. He drives for about twenty minutes then pulls up to a very small harbor.

"Do you have a boat, Caleb?" He opens the door for me and takes my hand to help me out.

"Why yes I do, Mrs Masters." He smiles at me and I blush. Mrs Masters seems so right, but I know it's not real.

He keeps hold of my hand while we walk down the small jetty and get on the biggest boat in the harbor. Of course he owns the biggest boat. "Is this your only boat?"

He laughs. "No. I have a few. They are in the marinas of the places I like to travel to. I love watching Formula 1 when it is in Monaco. There is nothing like sitting on the back of the boat and watching it from there. The noise is deafening and you can feel the thrust of the cars from there. I also have one in Star Island."

"Of course you do." I laugh. Star Island is the home of the richest people in the area and they have their super yachts moored up there for most of the year. It's a statement piece. "Do you take it out when you are down there?"

"Of course I do, you know I always used to love messing around in the boats, I just mess around in bigger ones now." He laughs. "I want to take you to see the one in Star Island, but for today this one will have to do."

"This one is adequate enough, Caleb, it's huge."

He pulls me into his side and whispers in my ear. "That's what you said the other night."

I laugh and hit him on his arm. "Stop it."

He shows me around the boat and it's so nice to see his face lit up. He's not worried about anything, he's really chill today and I love it.

He gets the captain to start the boat and he takes us out on the lake. "It's so beautiful out here, do we need to go to the reception?" I ask him as a lady serves us champagne. I really am living a dream life? What will happen after the two months are over? I shake my head because I don't want to think that far ahead.

"I'd love to say yes, but I want to go and I want them both to see you on my arm. Not to ruin their wedding for her and for him, but because I am so proud of you and want to show you off."

"You know all the right things to say, don't you?"

"I try."

We stay on the boat for over an hour. The bride and groom were going for photos after the wedding so we know we won't miss their arrival. When we get back to the jetty, we get in the car and drive to the venue. It's beautiful. It looks like an old castle and I can't believe we are staying the night here. "I booked us the presidential suite," Caleb says, smiling.

"Does that mean something?" He looks like he's up to mischief.

"I kind of manipulated the hotel slightly." He blushes and pulls me off to the side of the hotel.

"Caleb, what do you mean?"

"When I rang and asked for their Presidential suite, they told me that it was taken. I explained who I was and that I was having a late honeymoon and wanted to stay in their best hotel suite. They, once again, told me it was taken. I asked what I could do to get the room. They put me onto the manager of the hotel and I offered to sponsor the redevelopment of their new, contemporary extension to the property."

"What the fuck, Caleb? That's going to cost you a fortune. We could have stayed in any room. Why did you do that?"

"We will have a stakehold in the hotel, so will make money from it eventually. We can also stay for free whenever we want and in the presidential suite. But for us, they moved the couple out of the presidential suite into their next suite."

"Crap, I hope whoever it is doesn't know you did that."

"Well, here's the thing. The presidential suite is also the honeymoon suite." he says through his laughter.

"Caleb, that wasn't nice." I'm trying to be serious, but after the show she made in the church, I understand why he's laughing. It just shows that money can buy you whatever you want.

We go into the reception area, get our key and the porter takes our bags up. In the meantime we go into the bar and order drinks. Then we take a seat, ready for the next performance.
