Chapter 10 #2
Her tone is knowing and I stand straight and head to my wardrobe. My pile of boxes is still there and I continue to ignore it as I pull out a long robe that drags on the floor and my uniform.
“I am feeling that I will be treating this year as I have when I started. I simply need to graduate and nothing else.”
She makes a light scoffing sound before stripping, wrapping herself up in her towel, and grabbing her caddy. I mimic her but wrap myself in my robe instead. It’s later than normal for taking a shower, but I’m not worried about anyone jumping me now.
“I just think,” she says as we exit our room and head to the bathroom, “that maybe you want to explore a little with. . . you know. . .” She gives me a look that I roll my eyes at.
“Oh by the way, Castiel is also. . . you know. . .” I hadn’t told her that and haven’t had a chance to tell her about everything that happened last night.
Not that I will be mentioning Darian or Thorne, but Castiel and Darian I doubt will be quiet to the other celestials about my new fate tie and I’d rather Jullia find out about this from me than anyone else.
She knocks into me with how fast she spins around and how close I was. “You’re fucking fated to the only full shifting demigod!”
The bathroom, hallway – hell even the stairwell and I’m sure Ricka downstairs all freeze. Jullia had already opened the bathroom door and at this time there are several bodies within getting ready. Jullia was also the exact opposite of discreet.
I push past her and head to the furthest shower stall. Purposefully ignore all the stares. If anybody knew before, they all certainly know now. Gossip at this school spreads faster than in a small town high school or Christian church.
I snap the curtain shut behind me only for it to be immediately opened and I glare at Jullia. She glares right back. “When exactly did you know about this one?” she demands. Her lavender eyes wide behind her frames.
“Well,” I start, and already I can see a few tablets out and ears pointed in my direction.
Pulling Jullia into the shower with me, I snap the curtain shut behind us and create a sound barrier around us.
It makes my aura visible and my scent stronger, but everyone already knows I have magic so that shouldn’t matter.
Her eyes twinkle approvingly as her glare drops. “Impressive.”
I roll my eyes.
“I found out when I bit and fed from Castiel.” Her approving expression freezes as her eyes slowly widen. “Clicked into place and when I pulled back I saw his eyes and yeah. . .”
“That was our first week here,” she growls at me.
“Yeah, yeah, I know.”
“No you clearly don’t!” Her voice gets all high pitched as she stares at me with one eye glitching and looking like she wants to strangle me. “You’ve got a full shifting demigod and two devils on your roster and you just wanna brush it off like nothing!”
A grumble sound comes from my throat. “It’s not like he said anything either.
I’m sure he thought it was a fluke or something, or he just didn’t want to admit it, and I just wanted to get through school.
Then there was everything that happened with the Willow of Lore ceremony and the rebels and so yeah. ”
Her expression softens. “It’s okay, you have been through a lot,” she consoles. Then she tilts her head and squints an eye. “Why are you telling me this now though? I also saw your location when I got back to the dorm and you were running through the woods.”
Oof, I forgot about that.
“I wanted to go hit something last night so I was headed to the arena and at the last minute went to see Darian instead.”
Her eyes widen again and she interjects, “Is he your fated too?”
I hold my breath for a moment so I don’t say anything out loud just yet.
I’ve noticed that every chance I’ve had I’ve looked him directly in the eyes.
I did so last night just to see. The connection between fated will show whenever it wishes.
It’s not something that snaps into place at first glance, and there have been records of two people being together their whole lives and only in the end their fate line is shown between them.
Another reason I think fate is bullshit.
“No,” I finally answer.
“You sure?”
“It would have happened between the encounters we’ve already had if I was.”
She winces and then asks, “Is Thorne – “
“No,” I cut off before she can say anything more, and Jullia zips her mouth before nodding.
“Well. . .” She blows out a breath. “Oh! How does going to Darian correlate to Castiel? Also why were you going to see Darian?”
Oh. I forgot. “Right, well I was going to ask him a question and apparently Castiel barged in demanding where I was. Snapped at me asking how my fated would feel if they could tell I was with another guy – not that I was doing anything with Darian – so I flooded the space with my scent and then asked him how my fated would feel about my scent on him and it sort of escalated after that.”
Jullia’s jaw is dropped as I ramble about the events that happened.
“Yeah. . . and then I exposed the bitemark that hadn’t faded at all on his shoulder and Darian saw and then I asked what Castiel wanted again.
He got snappy at me and demanded to know why I was in Darian’s rooms and when he challenged me I basically wrapped my flames around him and shoved him to the wall.
Then I choked him out and left him unconscious in Darian’s room. ”
“I love you,” she whispers.
And it’s so random, so. . . unexpected that all I can do is laugh. She starts laughing with me and we go into a minor hysteria before we’re leaning against the walls heaving for breath.
Just two girls bonding over our shared mania.
Actually that sounds psychotic – which makes me start laughing again harder and because I started back up, Jullia starts and neither of us can stop.
After another moment the curtain of our stall gets ripped open and bored electric green eyes look down at me and Jullia nearly on the floor still laughing.
Ricka pops my sound barrier and arches a well-manicured dark blonde brow at us. “Well clearly you two aren’t eating each other out in here. Not that I would complain, but I doubt you’re boyfriends would appreciate all that – “ she gives me a devilish grin, “ – especially your fated.”
And that sobbers me up. I let out a last long sigh as I turn disapproving eyes up at Ricka. She simply leans against the wall and crosses her arms.
“I kicked everyone out after I heard Jullia and came up here, but you two have been in there for a while. I should have asked to join the party.” Jullia nudges her bare foot to mine and grins at me.
“The world famous Castiel D’etre, the most powerful devil of this generation, and the devil councilman’s son. Pretty impressive, Tsuki.”
“Ehhh. . .” I’d rather not dive into that now. “You can let everyone back in, thanks Ricka. We’ll shower and then head to class.”
Something dings and Ricka pulls her tablet from inside her blazer. She taps on it and a video or audio begins playing. There’s chatter, a girl talking about getting ready and her skincare routine, and then faintly you can hear Jullia.
You’re fucking fated to the only full shifting demigod!
Ricka turns her tablet and the girl who had been on the screen takes her tablet and points it to us.
Jullia with her back facing the camera, wrapped in her pink towel and curly white hair clipped up on the top of her head.
And me. My face visible for the camera, expression struck with ‘what the fuck did you just say very loudly that I know damn well everyone just heard’, hair pulled up into the ponytail I had it in while working out, and my robe wrapped tightly around myself.
Then I slide past her and make a beeline for the last stall. I watch Jullia make a disbelieving face and march after me before I close the curtain behind us and everyone in the bathroom looks at one another before the camera gets pointed at Ricka and she’s kicking everyone out.
“Already over a thousand views,” Ricka notifies before pulling her tablet back. Her eyes pass over the screen. “The comments are going to be golden.”
Jullia stands up and peers over to read them with her. From Jullia’s expression I doubt it’s anything good. Ricka’s dry tone should have signaled that to me.
“Don’t worry ladies, our prince charming wouldn’t slum it with a vampire,” Jullia reads with disgust. “They’re both lying, no way a demigod would be fated to trash. I mean just look at her. . . What the fuck are these!”
Jullia is about to snatch the tablet from Ricka but she pulls it to her chest and steps back. “Jealous girls with nothing better to do. Such a waste especially because they’re all supposed to be smart.”
“Oookay.” I clap my hands and then finally stand. “Welp, I’ve got to shower so get out.”
Jullia scoffs at me but I snap the curtain in her face and then hook my shower caddy where it had dropped to the floor to the wall. I shrug out of my robe and throw it over the rail before turning on the water.
Undoing my ponytail, I grab my brush and start untangling it as I kick at the freezing water. Then I get in.
I can hear Jullia and Ricka whispering about the whole thing but I probably could care even less than I already do about it.
It’s annoying, but as long as nothing major happens because of it.
Cordellia has told me about her enemy to lovers high school setting romances where everyone bullies the girl.
Not that we’re in high school, but I just don’t want to deal with that.
When I’m done I turn the water off and ring out my hair as best as I can.
Then I grab my robe, and because it is the same material as a towel it doubles as that as I wrap myself up.
I grab my caddy and then start heading back towards the room.
Jullia, who’s in the next stall, I leave to let her finish.
