Eva
Riley deposits me in the shower and sits on the closed toilet while I rinse the remaining demon blood off my hands. The hot water loosens my muscles and washes away the freshness of the events over the last few hours.
Everything at Lena’s house is a blur, and I shudder at the memory. I turn off the water and pull back the plastic shower curtain. Riley is waiting with a fluffy towel and a smile.
I wrap myself tightly with the towel, and she braids my hair back. The sweet gesture is comforting. We’ve been braiding each other’s hair for as long as I can remember.
My body feels tired, but not sleepy. I’m not sure if it’s the emotional crash or drain of magick from the oblivia spell, but I lack the required effort to get dressed.
So I pull on my oversized bathrobe and crawl into bed.
Riley lays next to me, face to face, just like we always have.
Downstairs, the deep baritone of Sorren’s voice blends with Mom’s.
“Do you actually think you did dark magick back there?” she asks quietly.
“I think so, it’s not right to use my power against someone. Especially with the help of Sorren’s blood. He doesn’t think I did, but it still feels wrong.”
“You’re forgetting the first rule of witchcraft. Intent. What was your intent? Were you protecting someone you love? Did you set out to completely wipe her memory?”
“I was trying to protect Sorren. I didn’t want to hurt anyone.”
“See. Don’t do your normal thing and blame yourself for everything.” She pulls the comforter up to my chin, tucking me into the bed.
“I still need to be held accountable. It’s what is right.”
“Don’t worry about that right now. Just rest.”
A soft knock at the door pulls my attention away from Riley. Sorren stands there, his hands in the pockets of his slacks. Somehow he got cleaned up while I was in the shower.
“Everything okay up here?” he asks. I’m not sure if he’s talking to me or Riley, or both.
“I’m going to go check on Mrs. S,” she says and rolls out of bed. She pats Sorren’s chest on her way past him.
“Want some company?” he asks so tenderly it breaks my heart. I pull down the covers and invite him in. He lays down without hesitation. I snuggle closer and breathe in his smokey sandalwood scent.
“You got kidnapped and tortured by a witch, and I managed to turn it around and make it about me.” I bury my face deeper into his chest.
“Eva, go easy. You’re punishing yourself, and you have nothing to feel bad for.”
“Sometimes it’s just too hard to fight those feelings off.”
Sorren presses a kiss to the tip of my nose. “I’ll fight them for you, just say the word.” He tucks a strand of hair behind my ear. “I can always use the very long and highly detailed list I have.”
“List?”
“The list of all the things I love about you. It’s comprehensive, possibly even color-coded.”
“Love?” I croak out. Afraid to hope he truly means the word.
“I love you, Eva. You burn brighter than the fires of Hell.” He smiles, then kisses my lips. It’s slow and careful, like he’s afraid to hurt me. I open up and deepen the kiss, projecting my love into him.
He breaks the kiss and his eyes flutter open, his dark eyelashes framing bright red eyes.
“I love you, too.”
Sorren smiles and on the corners of his mouth, two distinctly longer teeth poke out. Two fangs replacing his once-normal looking canines.
“Sorren, I think something is happening to you.”
His eyebrows pinch together in the middle. His hands fly up to his head and clutch at his temples. Sorren squeezes his eyes shut, clearly in pain.
He curls into a tight fetal position, writhing in agony. I jump out of bed and look around not sure what to do.
“Wha—”
My words are cut off when his face turns red. “Breathe Sorren, you need to breathe.” The red deepens and spreads down his neck and chest. His arms and hands turn crimson as well. His shadows fill the room and swirl around him, obscuring him from view.
I’m about to scream for help when the shadows disappear, exposing a new Sorren. Demon Sorren.
Horns curl back from his temple. His skin is completely red and matches his eyes. A thin tail with a triangular tip whips back and forth. My heart races at the sight of him. He’s gorgeous. He radiates a raw power that is uniquely his. It’s not threatening, but it feels enticingly dangerous.
“Eva, if this is too much. You can leave, and I’ll try to get my human form back.”
That’s sweet, but totally unnecessary.
“Hello, Demon. I wondered if you were ever going to show up.” I stride across the room exaggerating the sway of my hips. I close and lock the bedroom door quietly and turn back to him, letting my bathrobe fall open.
His eyes widen, and that fanged smile breaks out. Excitement gathers between my legs.
He points a red finger at me. “You’re going to need to be quiet.”
I suck his finger into my mouth and swirl my tongue around it before letting go with a pop.
I snap my fingers, encasing us in a soundproof bubble.
“No, I don’t think so.”
His tail frantically whips back and forth, scattering the shadows that creep around us.
Sorren bites his lower lip and draws my robe off completely. His hand skims my bare shoulder, sending a chill through my whole body. I pull off his belt and drop it next to my robe. His pants come off next. My mouth waters at the sight.
His cock, which was perfect in his human form, is deep red and darkens at the glistening tip. He strokes it once for me and draws his foreskin back to fully expose the head.
I claim it in my hand, taking over. His shadows curl up and around my legs and back. He grabs me by the hips, his rough touch draws out a gasp, and I tighten my hold on his length.
“Too much?” I ask about the pressure.
“You’re perfect,” he groans into my neck.
His tail wraps around my waist and draws me fully against him. Reluctantly, I let go of him and hold onto his broad shoulders. I shriek when he hauls me up and tosses me onto the bed.
“You ready for this, witch?” he asks, his voice a low growl.
I sit up on my knees and conjure up my best ‘come hither’ look. I grab my breasts and squeeze.
Sorren pounces on me like a feral animal. He nips at my neck and lines up his engorged dick with my soaking entrance. I thrust my hips up to meet his, not wanting to wait a second longer. No teasing, no build up.
I need him in me right now.
As he thrusts deeper into me, he moans into my hair. “Fuck. I love you so much.” The words come from his mouth so naturally, it lodges a lump in my throat.
“I love you.” I bite at his earlobe and pull gently on his earring. He liked it when I did that before. I get the same reaction, his hips move faster and harder.
Sorren throws my legs up over his shoulders, and his tail wraps around my thighs drawing them together. Shadows curl around my wrists pulling my arms apart.
He shudders and stalls for a second. The fact that he’s so close brings me within reach of the edge. His hips move again, slowly, intentionally, and he looks down at me like he could devour me. I would welcome it if death meant spending eternity with him.
Another shadow inches over my torso and pushes its way to my clit. Its touches grow in intensity while Sorren’s hips speed up in perfect coordination.
“You’re going to make me come,” I thrash my head side to side.
“Ready?” he asks, doubling his efforts, driving me to madness.
“Please,” I beg. That one word sends us both careening off the cliff. My legs shake violently while I milk every last drop out of him. He pulses inside of me emptying for longer than humanly possible. When he finally stills and pulls out, a rush of cum pours out of me, soaking the sheets.
I loved having sex with human Sorren, but this is next level.
Hand in hand, Sorren and I follow the rift carved into the earth above the leyline.
Before we left my bedroom, he figured out how to shift back into his human form. We’d both agreed no one was ready to see the other one just yet.
This is the first time I’ve seen the damage my magick caused up close. From the meadow, I hadn’t realized how deep the wound was. Now, I can see that it’s about three feet deep and about a foot and a half across, as though the land itself had buckled under the pressure of my magick.
Sorren ambles through the forest with a smile, making observations, and doing his best to keep the mood light.
He wears his confidence so effortlessly he looks like he belongs anywhere, but I can’t shake the feeling that something terrible is waiting to happen.
The curse I put on Lena hangs over me like a storm cloud, making every peaceful moment feel borrowed.
“You’re doing it again, aren’t you?” Sorren asks, squeezing my hand and pulling me out of my head.
“If I knew my demon boyfriend could read my thoughts, I would have never agreed to this,” I say with a broad smile.
“Oh, I wish I could read your thoughts! It would make it so much easier. I can practically see the wheels turning in your head.” He stops walking and turns to face me.
“I was just thinking about Lena.”
“Don’t think about her. She had it coming and deserved much worse.” He walks me back until I’m pressed against a wide tree trunk. Fat drops of water fall on our heads from the early morning rain.
“Let me take your mind off such awful things,” he says and crashes his lips to mine. I’m up and against the tree, face level with my demon’s human form.
His shadows form a platform to sit on, a narrow support to keep me pressed up against his chest and the hard bulge in his pants. Arousal pools below my belly, and my body rocks against his.
Grinding himself against me, he yanks my top down first, then my bra. Exposing me to the brisk air and his heated gaze. A shadow clamps down on a nipple sending a thrilling shot of pleasure straight between my legs.
Dark clouds swirl above. The weather was supposed to be clear after this morning, and I briefly wonder if the change in weather is coming from us.
