EPILOGUE

A YEAR LATER

Sasha has settled well in France and can’t imagine ever returning to England. The cottage still requires some work, but her Etsy business is starting to thrive. She is still hoping to have a horse sometime in the future, but for now she’s enjoying living in the countryside and having Mimi and Mitzi. But most of all she is happy to have Jean-Paul in her life, and knows that her dream of standing in the chateau chapel with him at her side, having their marriage blessed, will be more than just a dream in the near future.

Freddie has built up a successful garden business. Dawn has been a regular visitor since they met last Bastille Day, and he is starting to hope she may turn out be the one for him, if only he can persuade her to move to France.

Ingrid and Peter have been busy with guests and wedding receptions during the summer season. In winter, the chateau hosted several private events, vintage car shows and a small music festival, all organised by their events manager, Alice. With the chateau at the heart of village life now, hosting several community events as well as the book club, Peter and Ingrid cannot imagine ever leaving their dream home, the Chateau du Cheval.

Penny and Lucas are living together in the old Maison du Jardinier , which Lucas is helping to renovate – and turning into their forever home. Penny is busy with her cookery school and Lucas has started his degree in conservation and environmental management.

Alice is living with Eliza in her cottage and is busy with the marketing of events for the chateau, and working from the office in the Maison du Jardinier on her own small business. She’s slowly built up a reliable team of people, including a new team member, Marc, an ex-ma?tre d’ with considerable experience in hotels around the world.

Eliza is happy to be related to the Chevaliers and talks proudly about her relatives up at the Chateau du Cheval. She can often be found enjoying an afternoon tea in the orangery.

Once again, there is a true community living, loving and adding to the long history of the Chateau du Cheval.
