Chapter Nine Dessert #4

My contentment fades. “Being a mate and mother means that you have made love with your chosen one, and you have poured all your muscle and might into birthing his child and nursing that little one. You become soft to shield him and comfort him. My view from here is perfect, Madelyn, and all I see are soft, delectable curves that I ache to explore. Ache so much in fact, that I... I think I have to put you down now,” I say with a careful cough and a hasty rearrangement of tentacles to make sure my burgeoning cock doesn’t peek out.

“I should probably not overstay my welcome.”

“Right. I mean, you’re not.” Madeyln tugs her shirt down and pats her hair in place, cheeks flaming.

“It’s not because of the way you look, if you are still worried your ex-idiot was right,” I say in a stern voice.

“Actually, it does have something to do with the way you look, like some bathing beauty with all the generous curves and that sensuous smile...” I pull myself back with a snap, tentacles slapping the floor audibly. “But not in the way Eli said.”

Madelyn nods, blinking. Her lips purse, and she pats her hair back again, pushing a curl down behind her ear. “Not repulsive?”

“Repulsive. That comes from the word repulse, to push away?” I lick my lips. “All I want to do is be pulled to your side, like the tides to the shore.”

Madelyn lets out a little, wondering gasp—and pulls me. Her soft, small hands round mine, she tugs me until my chest butts up against hers, and my tentacles wind around like climbing vines, disobeying every order my brain tries to give.

Sit. Down! Stay!

No. They lift her a little and bring her to the perfect height so my mouth can claim hers again, this time for much longer.

Madelyn’s arms wind around my neck, and she makes a soft, hungry noise against my lips, her tongue teasing over mine when I gasp for air.

It slips in and strokes mine, and the intimate connection jolts straight into my cock.

It’s just a kiss, only a kiss, but part of her is inside of me, a soft, wet part, stroking and probing, and my tongue does the same, slowly exploring and savoring, each second unlocking more of that warm, golden feeling in my soul.

So spiritual, right?

My body has to ruin it with carnal cravings, feeding off her little noises and stirring hungrily to life when Madelyn’s hand connects with one of my tentacles. “This is better than a kiss?” she asks when she steals a breath and runs a finger gently over the rings of muscles that make up my suckers.

“It’s like a very special kiss. The intimate kind,” I growl and struggle to put her down.

Madelyn struggles to stay, clinging to my shoulders. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have. I... It’s been so long.”

“For me, too. Years. But I’m in no rush.”

“No. No rushing. But... It hasn’t felt like this in over four years. I just realized it. I just... I just realized how different it feels with you. You’ve never done something wrong or bad, or hurt me with your words or actions.”

I cup Madelyn’s face, and I have to fight down anger and sadness, focusing on keeping a smile on her beautiful lips. “Of course. I haven’t, and I never will, not intentionally.”

“Trust is a huge turn-on,” she admits, and even hearing her say the words makes me hard.

I turn her on, simply by being a decent man, the sort of man she should have? And it’s easy?

Maybe falling in love isn’t as stressful as I thought.

Although curbing my urges around her? That’s creating some serious tension.

“You are my turn-on. Your smile. You, feeling safe with me. It does such good things to me. Such ungentlemanly things. So please let me put you down, because if I rush, then you won’t trust me anymore, and I would hate that.”

Madelyn nods, breathless as she mutters words of agreement, and slowly shimmies free of my tentacles. We both look at her legs, covered in circular splotches from my greedy tentacles.

“Was this okay?” I ask, worry muting desire.

“It was like being touched everywhere, all at once. Like kisses raining down on my skin without stopping,” she says, voice awed.

She turns a little, and I can see the imprints run all the way up to the top of her thigh, only stopping where her shorts have ridden up and barely cover that forbidden curve of her bottom.

“Ah. Oops?”

Madelyn closes the small distance we’ve made and looks up at me as her hands slide up to my shoulders.

Like waves rolling in, I can’t help but be pulled to her, kissing her lips.

“Not an oops. Remember when I said I didn’t know much about krakens?”

I nod, floating away on the pleasure of her soft, sultry voice and the amused glint in her eyes, a secret look that’s just for us. The lovers.

My mate and I.

“Well, I know one thing for sure now. I’m a big fan of tentacles—as long as they belong to you.”

“Madelyn,” I sigh, and kiss her one more time before I forcibly pull myself away. “Tomorrow morning? Swimming?” I pant.

She nods back, cheeks bright cherry red, gasping a little. “See you at seven. But—but I have a big deadline for a practitioner billing cycle that I have to complete by Friday. I might need to skip Thursday.”

“I can keep Zack busy on Thursday. I’m off at one. I can come get him, and we can go to the park, and the library, and mm!” I don’t get to say anything else we could do. Madelyn is back in my arms, plastering her lips to mine.

“You don’t have to.”

“But I want to,” I remind her.

“I know you do. That’s why I’m kissing you. Because you want to be this awesome.”

“You and Zack deserve nothing less.”

Madelyn looks up at me, and a little frown etches between her brows and across her lips. “But how are we going to be awesome enough for you?”

“You could kiss me again on Friday night?” I hint.

Madelyn gives me a long, burning look, a look that makes everything below the waist throb, and my sensitive suckers remember the feel of latching onto her soft, supple skin. Everything in me turns greedy and wants to grab and devour this soft, luscious treat in front of me.

“I think that can be arranged,” Madelyn whispers, kissing me one more time before I finally escape out the door.
