Chapter 12
“Okay, Daddy, I think everything is sorted for tomorrow. Everyone is coming. The weather looks good. You’ll set up the tables and I’ll decorate. And all the outfits are ready.”
Mr. Fluffy looked up at her from where he lay in his dog bed.
“Yes, your outfit has been cleaned, Mr. Fluffy. I can’t believe how dirty you got it last time. You barely move, how did it end up so filthy?”
Spike snorted out a laugh. “I have some idea.”
“I can’t understand why he doesn’t like being dressed up like a rabbit.”
Three weeks had passed since the car accident and Spike was feeling nearly as good as new. Sometimes, he got tired and had to rest. But his bruises had healed and he was doing so much better.
Millie was so relieved. She was still finding it hard to let him out of her sight still, but he’d been out a few times without her and she’d managed.
Sort of.
She’d gotten sick from running herself into the ground, ending up with a bad cold. Spike had taken care of her, of course. And thankfully, she hadn’t passed it on to anyone else.
“And Duke and Razor are going to pick everyone up?”
“Yes,” he said. “They’ll go to the airport and collect them on the way.”
Thank God. She really hadn’t wanted Spike to go to the airport to get her friends again.
“That’s it then. Nothing else left to do until tomorrow.”
“There’s one more thing to do,” he said, looking across the room at her.
He got up off his chair and walked over to where she sat on the sofa.
“What is it?” she asked.
“We have to take care of the punishment you earned, baby doll.”
“Daddy! I never earned a punishment. Millie is a good girl.”
“Of course she is. But she also earned a spanking.”
“Woof,” Mr. Fluffy said.
She glared down at the dog. “Whose side are you on?”
“Mine,” Spike said. “Because he wants to take care of you like I do. Now, stand up.”
She stood and he sat in her place before pulling her over his lap.
Well, shoot.
She was already in her dinosaur pajamas. They were white with little dancing dinosaurs all over them. He grabbed them, lowering them, then her panties.
Until her poor bottom was exposed and defenseless.
“Remember, Daddy, I’ve gots to go on a hunt tomorrow. You can’ts spank me too much or too hard.”
“I’ll always spank you just the right amount, baby doll.”
Yeah. She wasn’t sure that made her feel better.
His hand landed on her ass and she let out a cry.
Ouchie!
“I know you can handle a lot more than that.”
Drat. She’d thought if she’d started yelling straight away then perhaps he’d go easy on her.
No such luck.
His hand landed over and over again, not stilling until she was a snotty, sobbing mess on his lap. Then he rubbed her lower back soothingly until she’d stopped crying.
After pulling up her panties and pajama pants, he settled her on his lap, facing him. Reaching over, he grabbed a tissue and wiped her face. She blew into it, clearing her nose.
Gross.
“Baby doll, you mean every-fucking-thing to me. Never want to hear you speak badly about yourself, understand?” he asked gruffly as he ran his hand up and down her back.
“I understand, Daddy.”
He drew her against his chest, hugging her tight. “Good girl. I have something for you. Although this might not be the best time to give it to you.”
She leaned back to give him a suspicious look. “Is it another spanking, Daddy?”
“Have you done something to deserve another spanking?” He raised his eyebrows.
“Nope. Nuh-uh. No freaking way.”
“Then you don’t have to worry about another spanking, do you?”
She sighed. “Sadly, I’ve always got to be on the watch for the next spanking. They’re sneaky things.”
“If you did as Daddy said and followed all the rules, then you wouldn’t have to worry about spankings.”
“Pfft. Sounds boring.”
He shook his head at her. Then he set her on her feet and stood, holding out his hand. Millie followed him into his office.
Letting go of her hand, he pointed at the floor. “Stay here.”
Sheesh. So bossy.
He moved around his desk and unlocked one of the drawers. She couldn’t see what he was doing over the wide desk, but when he returned he held a small black box in his hand.
Her heart skipped a beat, her stomach going all funny as he dropped down onto one knee.
“Spike,” she whispered.
“Millie, you’re the best part of me. The light in my life. I wasn’t really living until you came along, I was simply existing. Getting through the days. But you taught me that life is worth living. Every day, you make me smile with your enthusiasm, your humor, the way you enjoy every minute of every day. I love you. I want to be your man, your Daddy, and your husband for the rest of our lives. Will you have me?”
She dropped to her knees in front of him, tears dripping down her face, nodding.
“Baby?”
“I . . . I . . . y-yes!”
He opened the ring box, revealing the most gorgeous ring. It had a square pale green stone in the center surrounded by small diamonds.
Spike slid it onto her finger, before she threw herself at him, hugging him.
“Shh, baby. It’s all right.”
“I’m j-just so happy! I’m going to be y-yours.”
“You always have been. You’ve always been my girl. My very best girl.”
