Has Paris Cupid Found Love?

Here at Paris Daily we’re all about love! We recently sat down with Lilou Babineaux AKA Paris Cupid herself and asked where she’s at after admitting she’s the mastermind behind the popular matchmaking site, where lonely hearts commit to writing love letters and partaking in slow-burn romance. Tell us, Lilou, what prompted you to confess that you’re Cupid?

I wanted to take ownership of the site and with that came the risk of every choice I’ve made in my love life being judged and heavily scrutinised. It struck me that the mistakes I’ve made on the path to finding true love are mistakes so many of us make, and why should we be ashamed about it? I never did anything malicious; my intentions were always pure. I’m a heart-on-sleeve romantic who believes there’s someone out there for everyone and all I intended to do was help others find love.

Why do you think the idea of writing love letters has appealed to so many Parisians?

The idea of romancing someone you’ve never met with words alone appeals because it’s so different to the modern-day methods we use to find love. Writing to your match, you can’t rely on your physical attributes, your outfit, your status. You have to unfurl layers of yourself, letter by letter. Matches have reported back that by writing love letters, they found they’ve opened up more, shared more intimate details because there was that safety of anonymity – if they chose, they could keep their identity a secret. All matches know about each other are first names and what they do for a job or hobby. With that comes a certain sense of freedom. They can be brave and bold with their words. They can go at their own pace to build a connection before they meet in the real world, if they feel a spark.

Speaking of sparks, is there any truth to the rumour you’ve been receiving love letters of your own and have recently found love?

We can report Lilou has responded to that question with a knowing smile that says everything, in our opinion!
