Epilogue
From her perch high above the proceedings, the queen of the fairies let out a happy sigh.
“Oh, I do love a good human wedding!”
She adjusted the wildflower garland she’d arranged in her hair, then turned to her husband, and nodded at the clearing below.
“How nice that Lady Gwyn chose the gardens in which to say her marriage vows. The pixies have done a lovely job of the decorations.” She indicated the profusion of flowers that the fairy folk had coaxed to blossom overnight. The wooded dell had been transformed into a dreamy, floral wonderland.
“And look,” she nudged Oberon, drawing his attention to Kitty and James who were sitting together in the congregation. James’s hand was firmly in Kitty’s own, and their sense of happiness was palpable. As they watched, James’s thigh pressed Kitty’s, and she sent him a secret smile.
“They finally made things right,” Titania smirked. “With a little help from me.”
Oberon leaned over and pressed a slow kiss to her lips. “You are a wonder, my love.”
Titania smiled against his mouth. “I know.”
A few breathless moments later, she pulled back. “It’s the longest day today, you know.”
“I’m aware of that.”
“Which means it’s also the shortest night.” She sent him a saucy smile. “I hope these humans make good use of it.”
“Oh, I’m sure they will.”
Titania wound a strand of hair around her finger and lifted her brows. “Whatever shall we do to fill the hours?”
Oberon pulled her back into his arms with a deep chuckle. “I’m sure we’ll think of something.”
