Chapter 32

Caelan

Something was pulling at me. I didn’t know what it was, or why it was doing so. All I knew was that something was not right.

Rowan.

An incredible need to return home kept niggling at me.

It pushed and pushed and pushed. Making me want to abandon my task and return at once.

I was only half a day away from the Mystwoods, though, and the thought of having to return again stayed my path.

If I could make it by dark, I could do the checks that were needed, give Mack a well-deserved rest, and start back again as soon as possible.

Or… I could stay the night and hope to make contact with Rowan. Or Aenan. Surely one of them was dreaming and I would be able to walk in. I’d settle for Orick if I had to, even though the last time I’d accidentally done that, it had scarred me for life. That male dreamt about some weird shite.

Eyeing the darkening sky, I made a decision. I would stay the night, try to dream, and then return post-haste in the morning. I just hoped whatever it was could wait until then.
