BONUS SCENE

It was a bright day, but not too warm, on the Sunday morning when Nicholas and Laura rode to the top of the small hill that overlooked Loch Marr. The small lake supplied the castle and village of Cairnlochan with water, and now its dark waters shimmered and sparkled as the stiff breeze blew over its surface.

It was early autumn, Laura’s favourite time of year, and her face broke into a happy smile as she looked at the beautiful Highland landscape spread out before her. The trees had donned their bright red and golden coats, which sadly would soon be stripped away as winter arrived. She had been warned that Highland winters could be brutally cold, but consoled herself with the fact that she had Nicholas to keep her warm! How could she possibly freeze with his arms around her?
