Chapter 20 #2

“Good,” he replies, leaning forward and pressing a kiss to my lips. “Now, I need to get this condom taken care of, and we need to get ready to go have breakfast with your boy. I bet you’re anxious to see him.”

I nod. “I am.”

“All right, then let’s get moving.”

I glance at the alarm clock on his nightstand. “We don’t need to rush. We still have a little time.”

He offers the most wicked grin as he replies, “I have big plans for you in the shower, Shortcake.” He flexes his hips. “Big plans.”

“Mommy!”

I’m smiling from ear to ear as I make my way to the booth where Dad and Theo wait. “Hi, Theo,” I greet as I slip inside the booth beside him.

He throws his arms around my neck and hugs me tightly. But then, he looks up and sees Camden. “Cam! I pwaydid with Papa.”

“I heard. Did you have a good time?” he asks, taking off his coat.

“Cam sit!” Theo proclaims, pointing to the bench beside him.

“I thought you wanted to sit by Mommy?” Dad asks.

“Cam!” my son insists.

I slide out of the booth and prepare to give up my seat. It’s a hard pill to swallow, but honestly, I love the bond they’re forming.

“I can sit across from you by Papa,” Camden insists, knowing this is probably hurting my heart a bit.

“No, Cam,” Theo states, reaching for his lidded cup of white milk and taking a drink.

“It’s okay, I’ll sit with my dad,” I state to Cam, moving out of the way so he can sit beside my son.

“What all did you do with Papa?” Camden asks.

“We pwaydid cars and eatdid pizza. And I gots to sweep in my big boy bed.”

“Were you a good boy for Papa?” I ask.

“Yep!”

“He was an angel,” Dad insists, a fondness in his smile and eyes.

“What can I get you two to drink?” the server asks as she approaches our table.

When Camden indicates for me to go first, I request, “I’ll have a coffee and ice water, please.”

“Same,” Camden orders, pushing a menu toward me.

“Let me guess, you already know what you’re having,” I say, taking the menu and scanning the breakfast section.

“Of course,” he replies with a grin.

“I have pancakes,” Theo states. “You wike pancakes?” he asks Camden.

“I love them, especially with big, juicy strawberries on top.”

I lower my chin, feeling my face blush. There was something so dirty about that innocent statement.

It sends heat rushing between my legs, and I’ll be honest, I wouldn’t think that was possible right now.

Not after two orgasms last night and another three this morning.

By the time we were done in the shower I could barely stand, let alone walk.

I was spent, my body like Jell-O. I was completely sated in the best way.

“Mommy, you get pancakes?”

“Actually, that sounds delicious. I think I’ll get pancakes,” I tell my son, closing the menu and setting it to the side.

“Papa, pancakes?”

“Nope, I’m getting biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon.”

“Camden, pancakes?”

“I’m getting the meat-lovers skillet, little dude. It has biscuits and gravy, eggs, hashbrowns, and bacon,” Cam says.

“Bacon?”

“You like bacon?”

Theo lifts his shoulders in a shrug. “I not know.”

I can’t help but smile. “I’m not sure he’s ever had it before.”

“Well, you can have some of mine,” Camden insists, reaching over and ruffling Theo’s hair.

“Okay.”

Our drinks are delivered and our orders are given. The server promises to be back shortly to refill drinks and bring our food as soon as it’s ready.

“Did you have a good time at paint night?” Dad asks.

“I did. We painted a snowy scene with a little cabin in the corner,” I tell him, offering a little grin.

“You seem…happy.”

Again, I start to blush. “I am,” I whisper, glancing down for a moment.

He holds my gaze when I return my attention to him. “Good.”

“Camden, how are you?” Dad asks, and while Camden replies, I pour cream and sugar into my coffee.

This feels so right, so natural. I’m sitting here, enjoying breakfast with the only man I’ve ever loved and my dad.

If you would have asked me a few months back, I would have told you it was more likely monkeys rule the earth than for me to be sitting civilly at a table with these two men. Yet, here we are, together.

When our meal is delivered, Camden helps Theo cut up his pancakes. He requested the Mickey Mouse pancakes, which always makes him smile. He even takes a piece of Camden’s bacon and eats the whole thing.

“I guess he likes bacon,” Camden says with a chuckle.

“I guess so.”

Theo eats well, and by the time our plates are cleared, he’s ready to go home. “Cam, you come pway?”

“Uhh, I have a few things I have to do at my place, little dude, but how about I bring dinner over later?”

“Okay! And pway wiff me?”

“Well, of course,” Camden replies. “Hey, how about we go wash your hands in the restroom? You’re a little sticky from the syrup.”

Theo nods, and with Camden’s help, climbs out of his booster seat and off the booth bench. He takes Theo’s hand and walks with him to the men’s restroom.

“So…you and Camden.”

I glance over at my dad. “Is that okay?”

“Ain’t my life, sugar. As long as you’re happy, I’m happy.”

“We’re getting there,” I tell him.

“Good. It takes time, communication, and work, but if your heart is in it, I know it’ll happen. You two might have taken the long way around, but I had hoped you’d eventually wind back up at the same place.”

“Is that why you invited him over to help move furniture?” I tease, recalling how angry Camden looked while he was helping.

Dad chuckles and shakes his head. “Sometimes a stubborn man needs a good kick in the ass.”

I giggle just as Camden and Theo exit the restroom. “Well, thank you for the kick.”

“You’re welcome,” Dad replies, turning his attention to Theo. “You ready to get out of here?”

“Yep!”

When the check comes, Dad scoops it up first, insisting he pay the bill.

“Well, I’ll get the tip then,” Camden says, pulling cash from his wallet and placing it on the table.

“Let’s get your coat on, Theo,” I state, standing up to help.

“Cam!” he insists, holding his coat for Camden to assist.

When we all have our coats on and the bill has been paid, we head for the front door, one of Theo’s hands tucked firmly in each of Camden’s and my hand. “Tell Papa bye and thank you for the sleepover,” I state when we reach the sidewalk outside.

“Bye, Papa! Tanks for the sweepover.”

“You’re most welcome, buddy. Come over any time.”

Dad heads toward his vehicle, while we walk in the opposite direction toward mine. “Cam, we have sweepover?” my son asks when we reach my little SUV.

“Hmm, maybe someday? I don’t have an extra bed at my house for you right now,” Camden says.

“You sweep at my house den,” he replies casually. “We pway wiff cars and bwocks.”

“But where will I sleep? Your bed isn’t big enough for both of us,” Camden reminds my son, referring to his toddler bed.

“You sweep in Mommy’s bed,” Theo insists with a laugh, as if it’s the most common, yet funniest thing he’s ever heard.

“Hmm, your mommy’s bed, huh?” Camden lifts him up and gets him buckled in his car seat. When he shuts the door, he steps closer to me, getting right in my personal space. “Sounds like permission to me,” Camden whispers, a sexy little smirk on his lips.

“From a three-year-old,” I remind, shaking my head and trying not to smile. I fail, of course.

“Still. I’m not looking a gift horse in the mouth, Shortcake. Theo says we can have a sleepover, then it seems only logical to do what he suggests.”

I roll my eyes. “We’ll see.”

He sighs. “You just mothered me, didn’t you?”

I laugh and step forward, pressing my lips to the corner of his mouth. “We can have a sleepover soon, I promise. But not during the week. I’ll never get him to sleep with you in the house.”

He smiles that wicked little smile of his. “And what about you? Something tells me you’ll be the one not getting any sleep with me in the house.”

My thighs clench together as goosebumps pepper my skin. “Something tells me you’re right.”

“I’m always right,” he insists, opening the passenger door so I can climb inside. Even though it’s my car, Camden drove up to the diner this morning.

I climb inside and reach for my seat belt.

He follows, leaning in and brushing his lips across the shell of my ear. “Mark my words, Shortcake. By the end of next week, I’ll be in your bed and between your thighs all night long. Count on it.”

Wait until next weekend to be with Camden again?

Looks like it’s going to be a very long week…
