Chapter 5 #3

He wagged his finger in my direction. “That right there. You’re whinin’, but you want to do business underground?”

“I want to be able to do what you do.”

“No, you don’t.”

“All right. Maybe not to the same extent, but you know what my family does, and for whatever reason, they don’t think I’m built to handle it.”

“Then why are you pressing the issue? You shouldn’t want to be in a room you weren’t invited into.”

My head fell to the right. “If I had my shit together, they’d lay out the red carpet. Are you going to help me or not?”

“How old are you?” he asked, changing the subject.

“Twenty-seven.”

“Where did you get the meds from that you shot into my bloodstream?”

The rapid questions infused my backbone with steel. “Why does it matter? This feels like a damn interrogation instead of a proposal.”

“What did you expect? I know you didn’t think shit was sweet after the flawed shit you did.”

“You say that after asking me to be your fake girlfriend?” I sipped from my glass as if I wasn’t already feeling the liquor catching up to me. “I guess that means you don’t have a bitch I have to tie to a chair.”

“You think you’re fucking funny?”

My shoulders crowded around my ears. “Sometimes.”

“You keep thinking shit sweet, I’m gon’ put salt in your game.”

I sucked my teeth. “Not when you’re asking me for a favor. I thought dinner was a peace offering. I didn’t ask for all the extra stuff.”

“I didn’t ask to be stabbed in the neck with a needle.”

I thought to mention he already let a tattoo artist put a needle in the same spot, but I figured it was bad timing.

Our tense interaction eased into a comfortable silence while we ate.

The tequila had me warm and loose, and the meal was fulfilling.

Butterflies danced in my belly every time I took a bite of food, and I recalled how Neptune arranged the meal because he knew I would like it.

A few times, my eyes left my plate, and I saw he was watching me.

I wanted to ignore him, but the way Neptune’s eyes traced my skin made me wonder.

“Why are you staring at me?”

“Just thinking how someone so pretty is so crazy. Why did you put that on your face?”

I fingered the flower tattoo that started on my sideburn and wrapped around my ear. “Because I wanted to. I spazzed out after my mom died and cut my hair. I felt like a boy, and flowers are feminine. The rest is history.”

“Makes sense. I did a lot of reckless shit as a reaction to pain. My actions did nothing except leave behind reminders of people and experiences I tried to forget.”

“People and experiences don’t just disappear, Neptune.”

“In my world, they do.”

Fed and satisfied, I went to use the restroom, and when I returned, Neptune guided me into a den.

The room’s décor wasn’t as modern as the other parts of the house, but it was spacious.

Bookshelves lined the walls, and a large, oakwood desk sat off in the corner.

The room looked more like an office than a den.

“Come sit down with me for a minute,” Neptune said, patting a spot next to him on a love seat.

Beyond tipsy, I slowly carried myself and my cocktail glass to where Neptune sat.

I removed my heels before I got comfortable next to the man who had been more of a gentleman than I expected.

He surprised me by pulling my feet into his lap, examining my toes.

I thought the gesture was odd, though I also hoped he approved of the white polish I used.

With ease, I tried to slip one foot from his grasp, but Neptune held my ankle with one hand and massaged the heel of my foot with the other.

As much time as I spent on my feet, I wasn’t surprised that my eyes closed, and my mouth opened without pause.

“Nah, open your eyes. I want to ask you something.”

I kept my lids latched, but replied, “I’m listening.”

“Tell me what you know about my cousin? Why and when did Levi borrow money from Junior?”

“I’m not a snitch. That’s for you to figure out,” I declared in a low tone. “Instead of asking me about other people, how about you tell me about yourself?”

He laughed like my comment was a punchline. “What do you want to know?”

“Just that easy? Okay. Age. Sex. Location.”

“Thirty. Big dick. Slyde City.”

“Kids?”

“Not yet, but I want ’em.”

I nodded. “Why don’t you have a real girlfriend? You’re kind of cute.”

He cut his eyes at me as he stroked his beard. “Be fucking real. I’m fine as hell. I just got out of a situation. That’s why you’re here.”

“So I’m a replacement?”

“Y’all are nothing alike.”

“Good for you,” I teased. “How do you think your family will feel about this arrangement?”

“They won’t feel anything. This is my business, not theirs.”

A familiar feeling came over me, sealing my lips. When I was younger, my father would love me in private, then dismiss me in public. Nowadays, I understood the dynamic of our family fueled his detachment, but it still hurt.

“The moment you agreed to be on my arm, you became my responsibility. As long as you belong to me, you’re protected.

” Neptune sipped from his glass. “If you want me to train you, the first thing you need is a poker face. I can always tell what you’re thinking before you speak, and that won’t work when you’re committing a crime or making a deal. ”

I positioned myself so we were face-to-face. “Tell me what I’m thinking right now.”

“You’re debating if you want to let me fuck or not.”

“You’re wrong.”

He shrugged off his smirk. “You may not be thinking it now, but it’s crossed your mind a few times since you got here. You get nervous when you look at me, but you can’t help it, because you enjoy looking at me.” He fingered my chin with his thumb. “It’s coo’. I like looking at you too.”

Caught up in the way he read me, I said the first thing that came to mind. “How do I know I can trust you? This could be a scheme Todd set up.”

Neptune’s gaze went from soft as a whisper to sharp as a blade. “Don’t ever mention another nigga’s name in my shit.”

“Oh Lord.” I rolled my eyes. “It’s a TV reference that I don’t have the patience to explain. Just answer the question.”

“I mean, I can ask you the same thing. You could be on some setup shit.”

“I’m not. I don’t get anything out of setting you up.”

He licked his juicy lips. “Your word isn’t good enough. Show me you know how to be a good girl.”

I leaned forward and placed a kiss on Neptune’s cheek. “Do you believe me now?”

“Nah, I need more than that.”

I sat on my knees and eased my fingertips into his beard. This time, I kissed his cheek and Adam’s apple. “Now?”

“More,” he commanded as he pulled me out of my seat.

Our tongues tied together, and our hands became entangled in each other’s clothes.

When his fingers found my neck, I flinched, and he laughed.

Humiliation drove me away, but Neptune snatched me back into his arms and carried me to a desk in the room’s corner.

His actions were as bold as the muscle between his legs, and still, the roughness drew nectar from my pussy.

I opened my mouth to warn him we were moving too fast, but I couldn’t.

Neptune used his teeth to remove my panties, and I couldn’t form words.

My breath got caught in my chest when he placed my legs over his shoulders.

In a teasing manner, he licked my pussy without parting the lips.

I reached down to hint his mouth where I wanted him, but the headstrong man nipped at my fingertips.

“I don’t need no help,” he said from below my waist.

“You’re teasing me. I want to feel you.”

He released a one-note chuckle. “Didn’t I tell you that you were going to beg me to kill you or fuck you?”

My moans grew more intense when he kissed my clit.

“Say it, Kitty.”

The sensation of something cold and hard landed in the center of my breasts before I could agree.

When the object eased down to my belly button, my lashes beat softly.

The bounce in my chest came to a halt seeing a large gun in Neptune’s grasp.

So turned on, all I could think about was how easily the tip would slide into my wet pussy if he invaded my body with it.

“I’m going to help you get on your bully shit,” he declared. “If you try to play me—”

“Shut up and fuck me,” I demanded, yanking him down by the cross pendant hanging from one of his gold chains.

Without thinking, I sank my teeth into the devil horns tattooed on the side of his neck.

Confirmation of his approval was low and animalistic.

Feverish. It seemed like it only took a second for Neptune to put on a condom, then pin my arms behind my back as if I were under arrest. Lovemaking wasn’t in the room once he got inside of me.

Neptune didn’t fuck me slow. His strokes were powerful and deliberate.

Anytime bliss stole my ability to control myself, Neptune would slap or squeeze a different part of my body to get me back in line.

“Fuck, Neptune. Your dick is so big.”

“You take it so good, mama. Yo’ pussy fits around my dick like a glove.”

He bit into my shoulder, forcing a pleasure-filled grunt to slip through my teeth. My moans grew louder when his fingers twirled around my nipple rings.

“You are so fucking freaky.” He moaned. “I can tell you like when I talk to you. My praise makes your pussy wetter, Kitty?”

I opened my mouth to respond, but nothing came out except pants and purrs. As if he read my mind, my aggressive lover placed my knee on the desk, giving him the opportunity to stroke deeper.

“Yes! Deep like that.”

“That’s what you wanted? Huh? That’s what you needed, Kitty?”

I started to place my upper body on the desk, but Neptune pulled me up so my back was pressed into his chest.

“Tell me you’re sorry,” he murmured harshly in my ear. “Let me hear it, Kitty.”

Every second I left him hanging, the Sinner fucked me harder. He spanked me, bit me, and talked shit like it would force me to do what he asked, when it only made me rebel more. The only thing that made me cave in to his demands was the threat of taking his dick out of me.

“I messed up—shit.” I reached back and squeezed his thigh when my abdomen got tight. “I’m sorry, baby. Make me cum. Please!”

“Aww, fuck.” He twisted his hips, and his lips found my earlobe. “You gon’ be good for me, Kitty? Are you going to listen?”

“Yes,” I moaned. “I’ll be good for you. I promise, Tune.”

“Don’t . . . don’t promise me shit . . . Just do what I say! Fuck.” Neptune pumped into me a few more times, then his body jerked. “Fuck!”

The second outpour of profanity sounded like it came from regret, not satisfaction. I wanted to ask if something was wrong, but the warmth in the room turning cold was all the answer I needed.

“Where are you going?” I asked, sounding as desperate as I felt.

“To throw the condom away. Well, what’s left of it. The shit broke,” Neptune answered with his back to me. “My driver is outside. He’ll take you to a pharmacy before he takes you home.”

“Are you fucking kidding me?”

“Does it look like I’m laughing?”

My nostrils flared as I pulled on the bottom of my dress. “I don’t know. I can’t see your face since your back is facing me, like a coward.”

Neptune faced me before taking slow steps backward. “Your back was to me when I fucked you. What does that make you?”

“You’re a fucking—”

“Businessman, and you already agreed to the deal. If you renege, I’m going to tell my folks how you crossed the line, and that’s going to start some shit. I’ll make sure of it.”
