Chapter 10 Inappropriate Use of Frosting

Inappropriate Use of Frosting

Rowen

This had to be what it felt like to win the lottery. Sadie nestled against my chest, her chest rising and falling in a slow rhythm as she slept. Ralph rolled over in his sleep, his pink-white belly exposed.

I’d slipped away in the early morning to get Bastion set up with the register. He’d fallen right back into the job, and I made a mental note to raise his pay. His help was worth any amount of money because it meant I got to spend the day with Sadie.

Sighing, I kissed her temple and let the feel of her body against mine lull me back to sleep.

We woke in the early afternoon. It would be hours until darkness fell and she could leave, and knowing she was stuck here with me gave me a vicious sense of possession. The primal side of me wanted to beat my chest and declare her as mine.

Not yet. We weren’t there yet. This could be entirely one-sided. I had no idea what was going on in her gorgeous head, except that she wanted me too.

Sadie turned, her mouth opening in a yawn, revealing tiny pointed fangs.

Triple goddess, she was so fucking cute.

Dark lashes framed cherry irises as she blinked up at me.

“Wow, what time is it? I didn’t mean to sleep so long.”

My breath whooshed out in an exasperated huff. “You need sleep, darling. So did I. It’s only three. We have a few hours to kill.”

As if our discussion irritated him, Ralph rolled over and let out a grumbling hiss, toddling off the bed and out of the room.

Sadie eyed the window warily. I’d closed it last night, but not the shade. Light filtered through the UV-blocking film.

“So this can’t burn me? It’s safe?”

“Should be. It’s guaranteed.”

Hands clenched, she slid her legs out from under the blanket and rose. Cautiously, Sadie crossed the room until she stood beside the pool of late afternoon sunshine.

My stomach lurched as she reached out and held the back of her hand in the beam of sunlight. Nothing happened. Wiggling her fingers, she grinned.

“This is fantastic. I didn’t realize they worked so well.”

Her blonde curls bounced as she settled onto the floor, cross-legged in the middle of the light, letting it stream over her face.

“This is so nice. I’ve missed the feel of the sun.”

My brows furrowed. How traditional was her family that they didn’t embrace new technology like UV-blocking films?

“So what’s the plan for the next few hours?” She twisted, flashing that beautiful smile at me. “I can think of a few ideas.”

Stretching out with my hands behind my head, I mulled it over. “Definitely some dinner, or breakfast, depending on how you look at it. You should bite me again. You didn’t feed again last night.”

“Oh! I owe you a bite, don’t I?” she said, scrambling up.

Blood rushed out of my brain and headed south, and I had to take a calming deep breath. “That sounds good—maybe in a bit? Right now, I’m thinking… coffee? Do you want a shower?”

“Yeah, I should shower,” she said, perching on the foot of the bed. “Did you say something about clothes?”

“Amelie keeps a stash of clothes in my guest room. Want me to get you something?”

Tilting her head, she regarded me, that dimple reappearing in her cheek. “I think I can pick out my own clothes. I’m not sure I trust you with that yet.”

“We slept together last night, and you don’t trust me?” I huffed.

Sadie raised one manicured eyebrow.

“I mean, we slept in the same bed,” I amended.

A lyrical chuckle trailed behind her as she sauntered from the bedroom. My cheeks burned. Shaking my head, I stumbled out of bed and headed to the bathroom, taking a five-minute shower. When I emerged in only a pair of sweatpants, Sadie was waiting for me at the kitchen counter.

Her blonde curls were pulled into a fluffy bun, and her face was scrubbed clean of makeup. If anything, she was more beautiful, her wide eyes bright and her beautiful mouth soft.

She wore a simple sweater and a pair of black yoga pants. Luckily, she was about the same size as my sister, even if she had to cinch the waist because the bottoms were too roomy.

What would my sister think of Sadie? What would my dad think of her? My stomach lurched at the idea of Sadie meeting the rest of my family. They’d love her, of course. Who wouldn’t?

“You’re staring,” Sadie said, her hands grasping the collar of the sweater nervously.

“Sorry,” I said. “You’re beautiful. It’s hard not to.”

Crossing the living room, I stooped to kiss her forehead. Her hands brushed my stomach but fell away.

“You’re such a flirt,” she muttered.

I froze mid-step. “Do you know how hard it was to keep my hands off of you? Even when I was so frustrated, still, all I wanted to do was grab you and kiss you senseless.”

“Oh,” Sadie said, her fingertips pressing to her mouth. Her gaze traveled the room, her index finger tapping that lush, bottom lip. After a moment, she turned, her brows pinching in guilt. “I kept wearing cute outfits, knowing they got your attention.”

“That was intentional?” I said, laying my hand flat on the counter and leaning forward so I could look down at her.

She swallowed. “Yeah, I couldn't help it. I was hoping I could have my cake and eat it too.”

“Sadie.” Her name was a prayer as I buried my face in her hair, my hands gathering her to me. “You absolutely destroyed me.”

“Sorry,” she whispered, but I could hear the smile in her voice. Her lips trailed the softest kisses over my collarbone.

“Don’t apologize,” I murmured. “Breakfast.”

Peeling myself away from her, I focused on the task at hand. I rarely made myself breakfast, but I had eggs, bread, milk, and parmesan. That was enough to make something for us. Hopefully she’d be impressed.

Sadie watched from where she sat, her head resting in her palm with her elbows on the counter, as I cooked. The familiar motions felt special when I was cooking for her.

The creamy eggs slid on the plates beside the toast. “Here, it’s not much, but it should taste good,” I said.

“Rowen, this is amazing. I never get nice breakfasts like this.” Grabbing the fork I offered, Sadie dove into the food, leaving me frowning over her words.

Settling beside her, I ate my own food. In the past, I wouldn’t worry about breakfast, but I was hoping to feed Sadie with my blood, so breakfast was now a priority.

She sat back, coffee cup in hand, and watched me finish my meal. “So what now?”

“We have a few deliveries to make, but they can wait until the sun goes down. I suppose we have nothing to do for the next three hours.”

“You don’t have to go down to the bakery?”

Dragging my fingers through my hair to shove it back, I smirked at her. “No, my old employee started back up today. He can handle selling pastries by himself. So I have no responsibilities.”

A fang pressed into her lip, and I couldn’t help reaching for her. Her hand came up to meet mine, cradling my palm to her cheek.

“I suppose it’s time for that bite I owe you. And I’d like to return the favor from last night.”

“Not necessary,” I answered automatically. “None of this is a favor. No scorekeeping.”

“Still,” she said, sliding from her seat.

My heartbeat sped up, my pulse pounding in my throat, whooshing in my ears. Her little hand kept hold of mine, dragging me across the living room and back into my bedroom. She could do anything to me right now, demand anything, and I’d happily give it to her.

At the edge of the bed, she pulled me on top of her, her back hitting the mattress. With my other arm, I braced myself to keep some of my weight off of her.

Her legs opened and I nestled between them, the position wildly intimate. Sadie hooked her calves over the backs of my thighs, and I stared down at her, enraptured at the way she wrapped herself around me.

Her little smirk nearly undid me. Without thinking, I ground against her, groaning at the soft heat of her. Her back arched, her chin tipping up and baring her throat to me.

“Fuck, Sadie, I thought you were biting me,” I whispered hoarsely. “I’m tempted to sink my teeth into you.”

“Do it,” was her muttered reply.

Gladly.

Kissing her jaw, then her neck, I nibbled gently.

“More, Rowen, please,” she whined, her legs tightening around my hips.

Nearly delirious with the feel of her, I bit down on the side of her neck, applying just enough pressure to sting. She moaned, and my cock got impossibly harder.

Sadie was panting when I released her. She let out a soft little growl, and then pushed me to one side so we rolled on the bed. From her new position straddling me, she stared down at me and licked her lips, making her intention clear.

“Yes, baby, take what you want.”

My hands massaged her hips, guiding her as she rocked over me. Her lashes fluttered, and she reached for my face. Her fingers spanned my throat, turning my jaw to bare my neck to her. The way she took control was so hot, I couldn’t help thrusting up into her.

Her eyes glowed a soft magenta. “I’ve never fed from anyone like this before. Not in a bed, and never from the same person several times like this,” she admitted, her words running together as she eyed my neck.

I loved the way she looked at me like I was a big juicy steak.

Her lips skimmed my cheek and then my jaw, tracing the same path I’d done to her. Finally, she kissed over the spot she’d bitten me previously.

Anticipation coiled in every one of my muscles, wound so tightly. My grip on her hips held her against me, and the friction had my eyes rolling back in my head.

I couldn’t imagine being bitten while fucking her. It would be unbelievable. The image of her naked, stretched out under me, filled my mind as her teeth sank into my neck.

Instead of removing her fangs and sucking, she kept them embedded, letting her haze-inducing venom flow into me longer.

Warm, cozy feelings rushed through me. It felt like sinking into my bed right after changing the sheets, or coming home to find my favorite dinner.

The feeling built, moving from comforting to intensely pleasurable.

My breathing stuttered, my eyes squeezed shut, as sparks ran through my veins.

My magic surged as she rocked her hips over me, finally pulling her fangs from my neck and drinking as my blood flowed.

It was too late. She’d dosed me way more than before, and I was wrapped up in the feel of her, the pure ecstasy of her body against mine, and these feelings of devotion that I’d been pushing aside.

There was no holding it back. Release rushed through me, and I moaned her name, unable to help myself as I ground against her. Her nails dug in, the pricks of pain heightening the pleasure ripping through me, tearing apart my consciousness, remaking me as something new just for her.

Her tongue dragged across my neck, sealing the bite, and I came back to myself.

“Okay, that’s never happened before,” she said, her cheeks deeply flushed.

Between gulps of air, I asked, “What?”

Dragging her hand down her face, she pressed her lips together. “I might have finished while drinking from you. I mean, that was a lot of dry humping. And you taste so good.”

Chuckling, I ran my hands down her thighs and back up. “Me too, darling. That was incredible. I think you might have kept your fangs in my neck a little too long.”

“Oh, I’m so sorry!” she said.

“Don’t be,” I said, grinning. “I’m just feeling a bit drunk, honestly. And I need to clean up.”

A laugh burst out of her. Her head fell forward, the wisps of blonde curls that escaped her bun tumbling around her face.

“Just give me a minute,” I said, pushing to sit up so I could kiss her again.

Our lips met in a soft, affectionate kiss, slow and sweet. She brushed my hair out of my face and hesitantly climbed off of me. Immediately, I missed the press of our bodies together.

“You are something else, Rowen Sinclair.”

My brows pinched. “Don’t give me too much credit.”

Five minutes later, I slumped back into the bed wearing a fresh pair of sweatpants. Sadie smiled at me, and it was pure sunshine into my veins.

“So what now? We both came, I’m fed, and we still have over two hours to kill,” she said, giggling.

“Anything you want,” I said, tucking an arm behind my head so I could watch her. She moved down the bed until she could curl up behind me, resting her head on my chest. My arms fit around her, holding her close, and it felt like the most natural thing in the world.

“Tell me more about your magic.”

And that was how we spent an hour discussing magic. Sadie knew very little about types of witches and what a kitchen witch could do. I demonstrated a few skills, and she asked insightful questions, digging deeper into my abilities and limits.

I could have spent days and days, lifetimes even, with Sadie stretched out beside me. Her fingers traced patterns into my skin idly as we talked and laughed.

Time sped by, and in the middle of telling her about apothecary witches, we realized the sun was setting and it was time to begin our day.
