Chapter 8

Hugh

This is it. I don’t know what it is about tonight, but I have this feeling that today is going to be very important for Alexi and me. I’m not sure why I feel that way. It’s not our first date or the first time we’ve been alone together at one of our houses. Still, this date feels big.

I woke up extra early this morning to clean my house from top to bottom. Then I went to work and spent all day thinking about Alexi.

I’ve got tonight all planned out. I’m going to pick her up after work, drive us back to my place, give her a tour, and cook for her.

Hopefully, I’ll impress her with my culinary skills.

Maybe we can cuddle on the couch after dinner and watch a movie before I drive her home.

With any luck, I’ll have her agreeing to a third date before I kiss her goodnight.

“Night, Dr. Mercer!” Ruth calls as she shuffles past my office. “Don’t work too late!”

“I won’t, Ruth. I’m about to head out too.”

She smiles, waving as she leaves for the night. I wrap up work and grab my keys, practically sprinting out of the clinic to my car. My heart races as I turn onto Alexi’s street, and I wave when I see her stepping off the front porch.

“Hey, how was your day?” I ask, hopping out to greet her.

“Good. Boring.” She sighs. “How about yours?”

“Slow.” I lean down, pressing a quick kiss to her lips. “Are you ready to go?”

“Yeah, I just came out to grab my mail. Let me run it inside quickly.”

“Of course.”

I watch as she walks to her mailbox and grabs her mail. She disappears inside, and I walk around to the passenger side when she comes back out a second later.

“What are we having for dinner tonight?” she asks as she slides into the car.

“I thought I would make a roast chicken. Or would you prefer something else?”

“No, chicken sounds good.”

I take a deep breath as I climb behind the wheel and wrap Alexi’s hand in mine. We drive in amicable silence for a few minutes. I make the turn back toward the hospital, then take a left, driving further up the mountain.

Housing in Wolf Valley can be hard to come by. Rental places are few and far between, so I had to buy a house. My only requirements were that it was close to work and didn’t need to be fixed up. That’s how I landed on the modern cabin a few miles from the Wolf Valley Medical Clinic.

Alexi shifts in her seat as I turn onto my street. She looks curious as we pull into my driveway.

“I’ll give you the grand tour,” I tell her as I open her door for her.

She slips her hand into mine before I can reach for her, and my heart kicks against my ribcage at the action.

I unlock the front door and usher her in ahead of me. Her eyes dart around the entryway and living room, taking in the sparse furniture and décor.

“I haven’t quite made this place home,” I admit.

She smiles. “You’ve only lived here for what? A few weeks?”

“Close to two months.”

She nods. “And I’m sure you’ve been busy saving lives and whatnot.”

“That’s true. Come on, I’ll show you the rest of the house. Fair warning, though, it’s just as bare as the living room.”

“Lead the way.”

I lead her upstairs, showing her the bedrooms.

“Guest room, guest room, guest room,” I say, showing her the completely empty bedrooms.

“I love what you did with them,” she teases.

I grin. “What can I say? I have an eye for design.”

She snorts. “Clearly.”

“And this is my room.” I open the door to reveal my bedroom with its king-size bed, two bedside tables, and a dresser. The room still looks bare, and I quickly close the door again, not wanting her to feel rushed or pressured.

“Down this way are the stairs to the kitchen,” I say, waving toward the staircase.

We go back downstairs and into the kitchen.

“And that concludes today’s tour,” I say, pulling out one of the two barstools at the kitchen island for her with a flourish.

Alexi laughs as she sits down. “It was a very enlightening tour, thank you.”

“Can I get you something to drink?” I ask as I pull the chicken out of the fridge to start dinner.

“Just a water, please.”

“Coming right up.”

I grab her a glass of water before preheating the oven.

“I missed you today,” I admit as I prep the ingredients for our meal.

She turns her head away, trying to hide her beaming smile. “I missed you too,” she admits quietly.

“You know, you could come visit me at the clinic. We could grab lunch or a coffee on my break,” I suggest.

“Yeah… maybe,” she says weakly.

I clear my throat. “Do you want to tell me about it?”

She frowns. “About what?”

“Why you hate doctors?”

“I… I don’t hate doctors necessarily,” she lies.

I pin her with a hard look.

“Okay, I kind of do.”

“Why?” I ask gently, sliding the chicken and vegetables into the oven.

“Just a lifetime of bad experiences with them, I guess. I mean, whenever you go to a doctor, it’s because you don’t feel good or you think something is wrong, so you’re already anxious and miserable. Whenever I’ve gone for an appointment, they’ve never seemed to take me seriously.”

“How so?”

“Everything is because of my weight,” she snaps, her eyes flashing with hurt and anger. “I have migraines? It’s because I’m overweight. Ingrown toenail? Weight. I’m throwing up? You guessed it, it’s because of my weight.”

“I’m sorry, Alexi.”

“It sucked. And sometimes it was dangerous. One time, I was throwing up because I had the flu and wound up severely dehydrated. I had to go to the hospital.”

I walk around the island, stepping between her thighs. “You shouldn’t have had that experience, baby. I’m sorry you didn’t get the care you needed. I’m sorry you were dismissed and lectured.”

“It got worse when my parents got sick. They were chubby too, and the doctor spent months lecturing them about losing weight instead of running tests. Maybe if they’d taken them seriously, they’d still be here.”

“What happened to them?” I ask carefully.

Alexi rests her cheek against my chest, letting me comfort her. “My mom had a glioblastoma.”

I close my eyes, my heart aching for my girl. Her mom had a brain tumor and probably experienced symptoms for months. Instead of getting help, she was ridiculed and lectured about her weight. She should have gotten a scan. She should have gotten treatment.

“She was gone in a few months. It was so fast.” Alexi sniffles.

I tighten my hold on her.

“My dad passed a few months later. Pancreatic cancer.”

“Fuck, baby. I’m so sorry.”

We stay like that for a few moments. I hate that she lost her family, hate that she experienced any of this heartache. I wish I could have helped, wish I could’ve taken away some of her pain.

Alexi pulls back when the oven timer goes off, swiping at her eyes. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to ruin the mood on our date.”

“You didn’t ruin a damn thing. You could never ruin anything, baby.”

I move around the kitchen, pulling the food out of the oven and making our plates.

“Did you want something else to drink?” I ask as I set our plates on the kitchen island.

“Maybe some wine?”

I nod. “Of course.”

I pour us each a glass of wine, and we eat, the mood between us becoming lighter as we talk.

Alexi spears a potato with her fork. “What made you want to be a doctor?”

“It was always the plan,” I admit. “My parents pushed for it, but as I got older, it was the only path that interested me. Sometimes, I think maybe I did it just to go along with my parents’ plan, but when I’m at the clinic, diagnosing and helping people, I know I made the right choice.

I may not have the best bedside manner, but I don’t feel like a grumpy ogre when I’m around people if I’m helping them. ”

She laughs. “Believe me, ogres do not look like you.”

I raise an eyebrow. “Oh? What do I look like?”

“Like a model.”

I laugh.

“You do,” she insists.

“You’re the model between the two of us,” I correct.

We finish eating, and I clear the plates before she can get up.

“I’ll do the dishes later,” I tell her when she offers to clean up.

She frowns. “I can do them.”

I shake my head. “No, let’s go relax.”

I lead her into the living room, and we sink down onto the couch.

“Want to watch a movie?” I ask, turning on the TV and flipping through the options.

“Maybe later,” Alexi whispers.

I turn to look at her. She’s staring at me, her blue eyes dark and heated. I watch as her tongue darts out, dragging along her full bottom lip.

“Baby,” I croak.

She leans forward, closing the distance between us. Her lips land on mine, and my hand cups her chin, tilting her head so I can plunge my tongue into her mouth. Alexi tastes like wine, and I groan, kissing her harder. Her fingers thread through my hair, and she tugs on the short strands.

As quickly as the kiss started, she breaks it, pulling back. I want to reach for her and pull her against me, but Alexi moves faster. She kneels beside me, throwing one leg over mine to straddle me.

“That’s better,” she says huskily.

I swear that I almost come in my pants.

I grab her waist, and she leans in, pressing her lips to mine again. A switch flips inside me as she grinds against me. My cock hardens in my pants as she rocks against it.

“Alexi, maybe we should slow down,” I say while I still have the strength to resist this, resist her.

“I don’t want to stop. I want you, Hugh,” she whispers.

That’s all I need to hear. I stand, flipping Alexi onto her back on the couch. She gasps as she bounces on the cushions, and I groan as her tits jiggle beneath her shirt.

“We don’t have to—”

“I want to, Hugh,” she says, cutting me off. “Don’t you want me?”

“More than my next fucking breath,” I say instantly.

She smiles, and right before my eyes, strips her shirt over her head, letting the garment drop to the floor beside the couch.

“Fuck me,” I groan.

She laughs. “That’s what I’m trying to do.”

I pounce on her, cupping her full tits as I kiss her. Our tongues tangle, and we moan, our bodies molding together as I pin her to the couch. Alexi tugs on my shirt, her fingers fumbling with the buttons.

I sit up, undoing the buttons as fast as I can. Growing impatient, I rip the last few buttons off and toss the ruined shirt next to hers.

Feeling Alexi’s greedy hands exploring my body might be the greatest experience of my life.

Her hands stroke over my arms, chest, stomach, and down to the waistband of my pants.

My cock has never been harder, and I’m worried I’m going to bust before I even get naked, before I even get inside my girl.

No, I can’t do that. This is our first time, my first time, and I want it to be perfect for Alexi. I need to get her off, need to do it now.

I reach for her pants, sliding them down her legs until she kicks them off. Her pretty white panties have a wet spot on the front, and I fall on my girl, ripping at the thin cotton.

“Need you. Need to taste you,” I growl.

“Yes!” she cries, arching so I can pull her remaining clothes off.

As soon as she’s bare, I grip her thighs and spread her wide. The first swipe of my tongue over her center has fireworks exploding behind my eyes. Her pussy tastes like strawberries and cream, and with one lick, I know I’m addicted.

“Oh!” she gasps as I roll my tongue over her clit. “Yes! There!”

She grips my hair, holding me to her as I eat her out. My tongue licks up to her clit, then down, circling her snug opening. I repeat the same route until her hips rock with me. When my tongue breaches her little hole, I realize that my baby is a virgin too.

“You waited for me,” I breathe.

“What?” she asks breathlessly.

I don’t answer. I can’t. My mouth is already back between her legs. My lips wrap around her little pearl, and I suck the sensitive bundle of nerves into my mouth, wiggling my tongue over her clit as I suckle gently.

“Hugh!” she screams, her thighs tightening around my head as she comes.

I lick up her release, greedy for every drop of her juices. My cock is throbbing in my pants, and I stand, pushing my clothes off, desperate for relief.

“Oh!” Alexi gasps, her eyes wide as she stares at my dick.

“I waited for you too,” I admit.

“You… you’re a virgin?”

I nod. “There’s never been anyone else, Alexi. Only you.”

She stares at me for a beat, then opens her arms, urging me down to her body. I kneel on the couch between her legs, and I guide my dick to her dripping hole. We both tense as I fit the tip into her pussy.

She’s so damn tight. I rock forward slowly, trying to be gentle as I sink inside her an inch, then another. I grit my teeth as I bump up against her hymen.

“I don’t want to hurt you,” I whisper.

Alexi grips my biceps. “I know. And I know you’ll make it better.”

I swallow hard. “We should probably have done this upstairs in bed.”

She shakes her head. “I don’t care. I can’t wait.”

“I want you to be comfortable. I need this to be good for you, Alexi.”

“I am. It is,” she promises. “Now, make me yours, Hugh.”

“You’ve been mine from the moment you walked into my examination room.”

I press my lips to hers, trying to distract her as I pull my hips back and thrust into her, popping her cherry and claiming her as mine.

“Oh!” Alexi whines against my lips.

I pepper her face with kisses.

“Mine, baby. You’re all mine.”

“Yours,” she agrees.

Her pussy relaxes slowly around me. She’s still vise-grip tight, but she’s not as tense. I take that as my cue to move. I pull my hips back slowly and sink into her gently, watching her face for any sign of discomfort, but there’s none. Only pleasure.

Alexi’s hands cling to my shoulders as her hips move to match my pace. We rock together, both of us learning what feels good, what we like.

“That!” she gasps.

I angle my hips, pausing to grind down against her clit with each pass. Her body coils tighter, and I can feel my balls tightening, a tingle starting at the base of my spine that tells me I won’t be able to last much longer.

“You’re so damn hot, baby.”

She hooks her leg over my hips, spreading herself wider for me. Her tits bounce and sway with each rough thrust. I groan, dipping my head to suck one stiff nipple into my mouth. I bite down gently on the little cherry, and Alexi screams, her whole body tightening as she explodes.

Her orgasm detonates through her, triggering mine. I growl her name as I follow her over the edge, coming deep inside her.

“Fuck, baby,” I groan, my hips still rocking against her even as our come drips onto the couch cushions.

That’s when I realize that I never even thought to use a condom. I can’t say I regret it. I would love nothing more than to have kids with Alexi, to be tied to her forever in that way.

I love Alexi. I want everything with her.

I can only hope she feels the same way.
