Chapter 4 Banquet Invitation

Jiang Zeyu truly kept his word. He never called himself my Mother again.

He stopped saying it, yes. But he started expressing that motherly care with his eyes instead.

Those gentle, water-soft gazes followed me everywhere. I couldn't escape them no matter how I tried.

Being watched by him made me extremely uncomfortable.

Today, I tried to dodge him as usual, but he suddenly tugged on my sleeve.

"Baobao, today the Grand Princess is holding a Flower Viewing Banquet. Parents said you've been cooped up in the residence all the time and they're afraid you'll go crazy from boredom, so they told me to take you along this time." Jiang Zeyu reached out and ruffled my hair.

"Can I not go?" I looked at him carefully, trying to refuse.

I had been to plenty of banquets before. These so-called banquets were all more or less the same.

A bunch of people wearing fake smiles, endlessly exchanging empty courtesies.

I really didn't like this kind of occasion.

Although... the flowers at the Grand Princess's residence were indeed quite beautiful.

"No, Baobao."

"You'll go crazy from boredom that way."

"And you need to go out and make some friends too." Jiang Zeyu sighed softly.

Those noble young ladies don't like making friends with me at all, I retorted in my heart.

I had wanted to refuse, but looking at Jiang Zeyu's expectant eyes, I reluctantly nodded.

Fine. Just this once.

Seeing me agree, he broke into a delighted smile.
