Chapter 808 The Death of Faron

No human had ever dared make such an outrageous demand.

“You certainly don’t ask for much,” Malachar said. “Your condition will be difficult to fulfill, but no matter. Allow me to state my own terms.”

He took two steps toward Kael through the void.

“That’s close enough,” Kael warned, retreating two steps. “Come any closer, and I might instinctively defend myself.”

“I can agree to your conditions, but I have one request of my own. I want you to serve as Northguard City’s chief alchemist. I will provide all the necessary ingredients, and you may keep half of the Immortal Spirit Liquid you refine. I require only the other half.

“I am already being exceptionally generous, Lord Lin. I will provide every ingredient. All you need to do is refine them.”

Malachar’s words sounded strangely familiar to Kael.

He was almost certain someone else had made him exactly the same offer before.

“I haven’t finished listing my conditions.”

“Go on.”

Malachar gestured for him to continue.

“I want every ingredient growing in Northguard City’s spirit herb gardens. However, I have no intention of splitting the refined Immortal Spirit Liquid evenly with you.”

“Oh?” Malachar’s interest was immediately piqued. “Then what percentage will I receive?”

As long as Kael was willing to become his chief alchemist, Malachar would accept even twenty percent.

“Percentage?” Kael gave him an odd look.

“City Lord Tuo, you’re remarkably optimistic.

All you need to do is give me the ingredients.

I’ll take them somewhere secret and refine them on my own.

As for how much you receive, I can’t say for certain.

Whenever a batch succeeds, I’ll give you one or two drops.

“If the ingredients you provide aren’t pure enough, the refinement may fail. In that case, you won’t receive a single drop.”

“Outrageous!”

Faron could no longer contain his fury.

Under Kael’s proposal, Northguard City would be reduced to begging for whatever scraps he felt like giving them.

The amount they received would depend entirely on Kael’s mood—even though Northguard City would be providing all the ingredients.

“My third condition concerns Faron,” Kael continued. “He slaughtered far too many humans and must be punished. If I find the punishment satisfactory, I can give you one drop of Immortal Spirit Liquid right now.”

Kael produced a jade bottle.

It truly contained a drop of Immortal Spirit Liquid, refined during his journey.

Malachar let out a dismissive laugh. “You expect me to sacrifice one of my Deputy City Lords for a single drop of Immortal Spirit Liquid?”

“What about ten?”

Kael took out a larger jade bottle. Ten drops of Immortal Spirit Liquid rested inside.

With his keen senses, Malachar easily detected the pure immortal aura emanating from the bottle.

“That still won’t do.”

He shook his head, though Kael could hear the uncertainty creeping into his voice.

At that moment, a black shadow materialized behind Kael without warning.

A sword slashed toward Kael’s wrist as the figure’s other hand reached for the jade bottle.

Clang!

The blow jolted Kael’s wrist, sending the bottle spinning into the air.

But Kael had already reached the Eternal Realm, and his injuries had fully healed.

“You have a death wish?”

He struck backward with one hand, sending the shadow flying more than a hundred yards. At the same time, his other hand caught the jade bottle before it could drift away.

The shadow’s true appearance was finally revealed.

He was one of Northguard City’s Deputy City Lords.

After several spatial shifts, the man returned to Malachar’s side, clutching his neck.

“My apologies, City Lord. I failed.”

“Useless!”

After reprimanding him, Malachar turned back to Kael.

“Kael, regardless of what we decide, come inside first. We should find a proper place to negotiate. There’s no reason for us to remain suspended out here.”

“Oh?”

Blue light shimmered in Kael’s eyes as he examined Northguard City’s borders.

With his Eternal Realm cultivation and the power of the Myriad Spirit Eye, he easily saw the vast network of formations and restrictions surrounding the city.

“It appears you have no intention of negotiating in good faith.”

“What more do you expect us to do?” Faron asked.

“I want your life.”

Without warning, a beam of Myriad Spirit Light erupted from Kael’s right eye.

After Kael’s advancement to the Eternal Realm, the Myriad Spirit Light could be unleashed without warning and strike its target almost instantly.

“What—”

Faron froze, barely managing to utter a sound.

“Stop!”

Malachar vanished and reappeared in front of him. He thrust out his right hand and caught the Myriad Spirit Light.

What happened next was almost impossible to believe.

Despite being a beam of pure light, the Myriad Spirit Light bent in Malachar’s grasp as though it were a physical object.

The beam veered away and shot into deep space, reducing a meteor to ash.

Alarm swept through the others. They hurried behind Malachar, keeping their full attention fixed on Kael’s right eye.

Another beam of Myriad Spirit Light shot directly toward Malachar’s face.

Malachar knocked it aside with his palm.

The beam changed direction again and vanished into the depths of space.

Kael stopped holding back.

Remaining just outside Northguard City’s borders, he swept the Myriad Spirit Light from side to side and up and down.

“Aaargh!”

One of the Deputy City Lords failed to evade in time. The beam sliced away half his body, exposing charred, dark-red muscle beneath.

Kael focused on Faron, and the Myriad Spirit Light flashed again.

Faron screamed as one of his arms was severed.

He staggered behind Malachar, but another beam was already racing toward him.

Malachar had consumed a considerable amount of Origin Power deflecting the previous attacks with his bare hands. This time, he stepped aside.

The Myriad Spirit Light struck Faron, severing his remaining arm along with the entire shoulder.

More than a dozen divine effects continued working through the wounds, preventing his body from regenerating quickly.

“All of you, retreat into the city!” Malachar roared.

“Move!”

Faron was the first to flee toward Northguard City.

Another beam flashed.

It entered through the back of Faron’s skull.

His head exploded, scattering a mist of blood across the void.

Elowen stared in shock.

Faron had already been a Deputy City Lord when she was born. To her, he had always been one of Northguard City’s legendary figures.

Now she had witnessed that legend fall with her own eyes.

Kael quickly poured a drop of Immortal Spirit Liquid into his mouth.

Even with his Eternal Realm cultivation, repeatedly using the Myriad Spirit Light had drained more Origin Power than he could sustain.

“Why are you still standing there? Run!” Malachar shouted.

The others disappeared into Northguard City, leaving Malachar alone outside its borders.

Kael, however, didn’t dare enter the city’s territory so easily.

“I never imagined that the insignificant boy I could once have crushed with a single finger would become a true expert capable of killing Eternal Realm cultivators.”

Malachar regarded Kael with newfound caution.

“Enough pointless talk. Are you agreeing to my condition or not?”

“What condition?”

“Send every human in Northguard City’s territory back to Skyfire Planet. Once they arrive safely, I will stop causing trouble for Northguard City.”

“Oh?”

Something shifted in Malachar’s gaze as an idea occurred to him.

“I can agree to that. However, you should at least enter Northguard City and count how many humans are living here. Otherwise, how will you know whether we slaughtered half of them during the journey?”

The moment Kael saw his reaction, he knew Malachar was planning something.

“It seems you truly want me inside Northguard City’s formation.”

Kael paused.

“Very well. I’ll give you what you want.”

With a single step, he crossed into Northguard City’s territory.
