Chapter 813 The Tribulation Hymn of the Myriad Gods
Several days later, Kael arrived at Northguard City’s central teleportation array and traveled directly to a planet bordering Sunlance Academy’s territory.
White light flashed, and Kael appeared at the center of the destination array.
The cultivators guarding it were still members of the Shadow Race.
The moment they recognized Kael, they turned away and avoided his gaze.
Their Deputy City Lord had already contacted them through the Astral Compass and informed them that power in the Northguard Galaxy had changed hands. Humanity and the Winged Serpent Race were its new rulers.
Kael had no intention of exterminating these low-ranking Shadow cultivators. He summoned the Machine Race vessel and headed straight for the Sunlance Galaxy.
Inside the vessel, Kael kept one hand on the controls while using the other to leaf through a small volume.
The words Tribulation Hymn of the Myriad Gods were written across its cover.
“I never expected this composition to be so profound.”
Even with his Sound Spirit Root, Kael couldn’t grasp its essence in such a short time.
He then took out an ancient bamboo flute.
The flute had belonged to Malachar and was specifically designed for performing the Tribulation Hymn of the Myriad Gods.
I’ll take these back for Calla.
Kael put away both treasures.
During his battle with Malachar, the man had been killed in only a few exchanges, leaving him no opportunity to use any of his most powerful trump cards.
Had Malachar managed to perform the Tribulation Hymn of the Myriad Gods, Kael might have needed considerably more effort to defeat him.
A short while later, Kael took out an array compass.
Northguard City’s Eternal Realm cultivators had already told him that it controlled the Solar Apex Firmament Array.
Once fully deployed, the formation could raise the temperature within its boundaries to an unimaginable extreme, incinerating every living creature inside.
It could also serve as a sect-protecting or planet-protecting formation.
The array compass could project the formation across an entire light-month, enough to envelop all of Northguard City.
Kael stored the array compass inside his Inner Cosmos, then entered as well.
He could set a course for the Machine Race vessel and allow it to fly on its own. Its speed under automatic control was far below what it could achieve when he piloted it personally, but that didn’t matter for the moment.
Once inside his Inner Cosmos, Kael looked over the humans who remained there.
More than half had chosen to stay in Firmament City within the Northguard Galaxy. A smaller group, however, still wanted to return with Kael to Skyfire Planet.
Some of them were natives of Skyfire Planet. They had been forced to flee their homeland with Kael to avoid being killed by Solvaris, and they desperately wanted to see their home again.
Others simply admired Kael and wanted to visit the world where he had been born.
“Father!”
Arthur ran over from the distance.
“Arthur, make several copies of the Tribulation Hymn of the Myriad Gods and distribute them among everyone in the Inner Cosmos. Have them study it and see whether any of our cultivators possess a particular talent for sound arts.”
Kael handed the musical scripture to him.
“You want to share such a profound cultivation art with everyone?” Arthur asked in surprise.
Kael frowned. “We are all human. Why shouldn’t they be allowed to study it?”
Arthur had not yet reached the highest ranks among humanity’s cultivators, and his outlook remained somewhat narrow. He still regarded valuable cultivation arts with a certain degree of selfishness.
“Yes, Father.”
Arthur immediately took the musical scripture away to reproduce it.
Kael then went to the Blackcloud Tree.
A solitary figure stood beneath its branches, staring up at the sky.
“Heavenly Fox Empress, once we return to the Sunlance Galaxy, I will take you home.”
Kael sighed.
“What? Do you truly mean that?”
The Heavenly Fox Empress turned toward him at once, afraid that he might be deceiving her.
“You have little reason to remain in my Inner Cosmos. It would be more practical to let you return home. However, once you reach your homeworld, you are not to oppress humanity again. Do you understand?”
“I may do far more than you expect.”
The Heavenly Fox Empress stared at him intently.
“Far more?”
“When I return to my homeworld, not only will I refuse to oppress humanity, but I will also support and promote human cultivators. I will ensure that humans receive the same treatment as members of the Heavenly Fox Race.”
Her voice was sincere.
She meant every word. It was the only way she could think of to repay Kael for sparing her life.
Kael studied her for a moment before giving a slight nod.
“I believe you.”
He entered the nearby thatched cottage, intending to recuperate for a while.
His victory over Malachar might have appeared effortless, but the battle had left him deeply exhausted. He needed a long, uninterrupted sleep to restore his body to peak condition before dealing with the trouble awaiting him at Sunlance Academy.
“Wait, Lord Lin.”
The Heavenly Fox Empress followed him into the cottage.
“What is it, my lady?”
Kael looked at her curiously.
“Lord Lin, the truth is...”
The Heavenly Fox Empress struggled to continue.
Kael had lived far too long to miss the meaning behind the blush spreading across her cheeks.
“You may speak freely.”
He sat cross-legged on the bed.
“The Heavenly Fox Race does not require its women to marry exclusively within our race. If we restricted ourselves in that way, our bloodline would eventually weaken. If one of our women develops feelings for a cultivator of another race, she is free to make her interest known...”
By the time she finished, her face was burning.
“I have been traveling without rest for many days. I am already thoroughly exhausted.”
Kael didn’t want to reject her directly, so he offered a suitable excuse.
The Heavenly Fox Empress released the breath she had been holding.
As the ruler of the Heavenly Fox Race, she possessed a pride beyond anything an ordinary cultivator could imagine.
She had feared that Kael would reject her after she revealed her intentions. By choosing not to refuse her outright, he had preserved her dignity.
A captivating smile appeared on her face.
It was completely different from her usual aloof expression, like winter thawing into spring. At that moment, her beauty was in no way inferior to Seraphyne’s.
“In that case, I won’t disturb your rest. By the way, I am staying in the stone cottage next door.”
With that, the Heavenly Fox Empress disappeared from the room.
This was Kael’s Inner Cosmos. He already knew exactly where she lived.
The fact that she had deliberately told him anyway made her invitation unmistakable.
Kael chuckled and shook his head before opening his status panel.
[Eternal Points: 22.32]
Killing Malachar had earned him twenty-two Eternal Points.
From this, Kael calculated that one Eternal Point was equivalent to ten thousand Galactic Points.
Twenty-two Eternal Points were therefore worth two hundred and twenty thousand Galactic Points.
He immediately began distributing his Eternal Points across the status panel.
[Human Monarch: 809.369]
[Eternal Tier 1: 10%]
[Stage Twenty of the Fiendgod Transformation: 100,000,000/200,000,000]
[Grand Celestial Manifestation: 1/100]
[Sacred Skin—Fortification: 10,000/20,000]
[Sacred Tendon—Fortification: 10,000/20,000]
[Sacred Muscle—Fortification: 10,000/20,000]
[Sacred Organ—Fortification: 10,000/20,000]
[Sacred Bone—Fortification: 10,000/20,000]
[Supreme Divine Craftsmanship: 4,500/5,000]
[Divine Alchemy Dao: 50%]
[Basic Inner Cosmos: 500/1,000]
[Myriad Spirit Eye Tier 1: 15/100]
[Sound Spirit Root: 5%]
[Machine Spirit Root: 5%]
Kael distributed the Eternal Points among four progress bars: his cultivation realm, Inner Cosmos, Sound Spirit Root, and Machine Spirit Root.
Perhaps he was a perfectionist by nature, because he preferred every progress bar to stop at a clean, whole number.
He would rather leave the remaining Eternal Points unused than ruin those satisfying numbers.
For the next several days, Kael closed his eyes and rested.
Time passed slowly...
