Chapter 19
They caught a taxi back to the hotel, and Scott walked them back to their apartment. Daniela let her father in before lingering outside under the moonlight. “Thanks for today, Scott,” Daniela said. “I had a really good time. Sorry for dumping all my problems on you. I’ve just got a lot on my mind.”
She turned to leave but hesitated. Scott leaned in to kiss her.
Her eyes closed and their lips met. The sweat on her brow tasted sweet.
She let out a moan as their bodies touched and their hands explored each other.
The kissing was wet, passionate, and full of heat.
When she finally pulled away, her eyes were still closed, her breathing heavy.
Her eyes opened and she smiled as if waking from a dream.
“Where was that all night?” She leaned in for one more kiss when the door suddenly opened.
“What’s going on here?” Adolfo said in a raspy voice. “A little goodbye kissing? You didn’t think the blind man could tell, eh?” Scott laughed and she blushed. Adolfo let out a big laugh. “Alright, when you two love birds are finished, I need some help finding the remote.” Adolfo went back inside.
When the door closed, Daniela said, “I better go.”
She opened the door and started to go inside before turning around, grabbing him by the collar and pulling him close. She kissed him before disappearing into the apartment.
When Scott finally got to bed that night, he couldn’t sleep. He kept thinking about Doc Malone, the cliff divers, the party with Carlos, his father, and the Las Olas Hotel.
But there was one thought above them all. Daniela. Her laugh, her smell, her touch, her kiss, and how he couldn’t wait to see her again.
