Chapter Twenty-Five #3
“Um, yeah, but does that mean I have to go to Bozeman for my medical appointments now?”
Quinn stopped as though he hadn’t considered that question. “I suppose we both will for the major stuff but for normal, little things, we can use the doc in town like the rest of the family.”
“Oh, so are Master Josh and Sue moving as well or are they splitting up?”
“Well, Sue is going to work remotely for the most part and Josh is an analyst who does most of his work on sites all over. His home base won’t matter much.”
“Meaning they will be closer to us.” She sighed. “How incredible is that?”
“Ace has added another rancher to his caseload and unless he needs to go to court or meet with his client, which happens much less than I had thought, he can be anywhere. Jacquie can help you if you need her to, since she only works for something to do.”
“No, she works because it fulfills her and she’s incredible at organization.” Cheyenne gave him a hard look. “And women like to make their own money.”
Quinn leaned over and kissed her full on the lips. “You’re right, I apologize.”
“What about the club? Some of its best members are leaving and Josh manages it.”
“Finally, we are where I started this conversation, about a year ago.”
She laughed. “Right, well go on then. Tell me your other news.”
“It looks like we are going to build a small club here, as in near Bozeman.”
“A real club, like The Sting?”
“Yep, calling it The Edge as in its legal name will be The Forest’s Edge. We should be able to open in about six to eight months if things go right.”
“Yes! I was so lonely for the club. Tell me what the plan is so far.”
It would be about a two-hour drive for Quinn and Cheyenne, but they didn’t flinch at the extra miles. Josh went home with the okay to start the ball rolling.
Liam and Ciarán came over the next morning as Quinn and Cheyenne were eating breakfast.
“See there, Liam, I told you he would be milking this headache for all it was worth. He left the real work to the men of the family.”
“What are you blabbering about there, little brother?” asked Quinn in his blustery, messing-around voice.
“Well come and see for yourself. Don’t thank us, or even mention it. Ever,” added Liam dryly.
Quinn was led down the stairs to the basement, one brother in front and one behind. They weren’t taking any chances of him losing his balance.
Liam said, “Might want to consider putting in an elevator. Just saying.”
His brothers stood to the side and allowed Quinlan to look at their handiwork. “I don’t know what to say except thanks and don’t you ever mention it again, unless you are interested in...”
“Nope.” Both men stepped back and shook their heads, looking down and away from their brother who was laughing.
“How did you know and how were you able to assemble them both properly?”
“We had the builder and the expert helping us,” Ciarán informed him.
“Ah. So do you have questions or are we good on this whole thing?”
“Nope, Josh was more informative than we ever needed and more than we ever want again.”
Liam was already backing away from the equipment that Parker had added: a Shibari stand and armchair for aftercare.
“Got it.” Quinn nodded. “And Cheyenne? How did she handle this?”
“She chewed us out at the hospital. She said it was our fault because we didn’t support you in your lifestyle, so you couldn’t ask for help.
” Ciaran looked Quinn in the eye. “Man, I don’t condemn your lifestyle so long as you’re always safe with Cheyenne, and your love for her guarantees that.
I’m not into it but fun in the bedroom is each couple’s choice of activities.
But don’t ever refuse to ask for help because you think we might not understand. ”
“Yeah, what he said. I’ll kick your ass if you ever do that again. Got it?” Liam was the tough older brother now. Quinn nodded.
“Cheyenne is no prissy girl. She told us not to mention it but we figured you would know that someone did it, so we wanted to tell you, so she didn’t get in trouble or something.
She was worried you were going to blame her for allowing us here and we wanted you to know she didn’t have a choice.
We were already here.” Ciarán shrugged. “We were worried you would use this equipment on her.” The men chuckled. “Besides, we needed to have this talk.”
“We good, Bro?” Liam asked Quinn as he accepted backslaps from his brothers.
“Yep.”
As the brothers left the basement and went on to their own work for the day, Quinn sat down at the table and pulled Cheyenne close. “You did all the right things, baby. Even when I stupidly wanted you not to do any of it, you did what you knew you had to. I love you.”
“I love you too, so much. A wise man once said to me, ‘you’re my whole world. I cannot, will not, allow you to take those types of chances with yourself.”
“Hmm, you had better listen to that wise man, he says some good stuff. Now finish breakfast, because I have more good stuff to do to—I mean to show you.”
“Yes, sir,” she said with a soft giggle. “I can’t wait.”
