Chapter 3 #4

I chuckled at my women and headed into my bedchamber to get ready. I collected my soap, comb, and razor from the shelf where I kept them and headed into the bathroom.

“Still the best discovery here,” I sighed as I stepped into the fairly modern bathroom.

In the beginning, I’d been certain my life would consist of shitting in a chamberpot, but the privy was fully equipped with indoor plumbing. I turned on the tap, and hot water began to flow into the large tub.

It didn’t take me long to strip down, wash myself, shave my face, and get dressed. Miriam had designed and tailored a special suit for me for the occasion, and I couldn’t help but admire the incredible stitchwork on the jacket and pants.

It was a crisp black suit with a royal-purple silk lining and a matching necktie in the current fashion of Nalatria. It was more like an ascot than a regular necktie, but it went well with the rest of the suit, and I couldn’t deny how good I looked.

“Ken,” Tanell gasped behind me as she entered the bedchamber. “Wow.”

“How do I look?” I asked as I spun toward her.

I grabbed the edges of my jacket to show off the white linen shirt underneath and my belt with its fancy golden buckle. Then I raked one hand through my still-damp hair like some kind of Gucci model.

“Like I want to eat you up,” Tanell murmured, and she pulled her bottom lip between her teeth. “And like a king. All you’re missing is your crown.”

“That’s downstairs,” I chuckled. “I didn’t want to have to wear it all the way through the castle.”

“I know.” Tanell smiled adoringly at me. “I know how weird you still feel with it on, but it does look so good.”

“So do you,” I said.

Tanell perked up at my praise, and a soft blush spread over her cheeks.

She was wearing a royal-blue ball gown made of soft satin.

It had a straight-across neckline with a decorative pleated piece at her left shoulder.

The top of the gown fit around her torso like it had been painted on, and the tops of her breasts swelled softly with each breath.

The skirts of her gown were so full, I wondered if I’d even be able to reach her.

Her golden hair was wound up in a massive pile of curls on the top of her head, and a simple golden circlet was nestled securely in the elegant updo.

Even though she was already queen, she’d chosen a fairly understated makeup and jewelry combo.

Diamond studs the size of dimes decorated her ears, and she had a soft red lip and a bit of shimmer on her eyes.

She looked every bit the confident queen that she was, and I wanted to drag her to bed and slowly peel the satin from her body and kiss every inch of her.

“Thank you,” Tanell murmured, and she leaned into my arms for a long, lazy kiss. “You’ll mess up my makeup.”

She giggled and playfully slapped my shoulder as she stepped out of the circle of my arms.

“I want to check on–” Tanell started, but Yori burst into the room.

“Look at me!” she laughed and threw her arms out. “I’m a queen!”

“Not quite yet,” Serra’s much softer voice came from behind Yori.

I struggled to keep my jaw off the floor as I got my first look at my soon-to-be queens.

Yori was wearing a ball gown that was a bright shade of purple that almost matched my suit.

It had a sweetheart neckline that showed off the tops of Yori’s breasts and the deliciously toned muscles of her shoulders and upper arms. The bodice was covered in tiny crystals that caught the light and showered her in little rainbows.

The skirts were enormous and flared out from her tiny waist in a wide circle.

It looked like there were about fifty layers of skirts all stacked together, and it made me think of that live-action Cinderella remake from the 2010s.

I’d never seen Yori dressed up so fancy, and it was a bit shocking, but she looked incredible. There was a hint of purple on her eyelids, and her long black hair cascaded down her back in beautiful waves.

“You look amazing,” I breathed.

“Dignified even,” Serra said, and there was a hint of humor under her obvious nerves.

“Oh, my!” Yori gasped when she turned to look at Serra. “You’re gorgeous! I mean, you always look beautiful, but… wow!”

“I have to agree,” Tanell said. “Very queenly.”

“Thanks,” Serra said in a rush of air. “You don’t think it’s too much?”

Serra was also wearing a ball gown with a very full skirt, but instead of a deep jewel tone, it was a soft pink like tulips in spring.

The neckline dipped in a little V-shape to show off her cleavage and then spread out over her upper arms in a design that was somewhere between straps and sleeves.

The whole dress was covered in little crystals and appliqué butterflies that looked like they would come to life any second and fly off.

Serra’s silver-blonde hair was pulled back in a loose bun that was pinned above the nape of her neck, and a few select tendrils hung down her back in a delicate way. She wore almost no makeup, and that was a huge change from the style she’d preferred when I first met her.

She used to wear very heavy and thick makeup, but since we’d gotten close, she’d traded all that in for a little blush on her cheeks, a soft pink on her lips, and a hint of golden shimmer on her eyes.

She took a shuddering breath as I let my gaze roam over her figure, and when my eyes came up to meet hers, they were full of love.

“How do I look?” Serra asked.

“Like my queen,” I said.

“Almost,” Serra whispered, and the corners of her lips pulled up.

“Actually,” Tanell said with a bit of tension in her tone. “It’s time. We should go downstairs to the throne room.”

Tanell led the charge, and I offered my arms to my soon-to-be queens. Yori eagerly took my arm, and Serra clung to me like I was the only thing keeping her upright.

“Are you okay?” I asked her.

“Yes, uh–” Serra let out a slightly hysterical laugh. “Not really, but I will be. I’m always the most nervous right before, but once we get to the throne room, everything will be fine.”

“I’ll be right there with you,” I promised her.

Serra nodded in the most regal gesture I’d ever seen.

“Let’s go,” she said.

“To the coronation.” I grinned.
