TWENTY ONE

Bastien

I actually groan aloud as I spot Vera burst from the door of her college dorm building, bright smile on her face.

Just seeing her is a physical sensation not unlike releasing a pent-up sneeze.

I wasn’t planning on getting out of my truck because the sooner we leave, the sooner we make it to the cute little cabin I’ve booked and the sooner I have her all to myself again.

But it’s been too long since I had my hands and mouth on her body. I leave the door open behind me and catch her when she jumps into my arms with a squeal, planting kisses all over my face. “Oh my god. Oh my god. Hi. I needed this.”

I turn my nose against her neck and breathe her in, letting out a deep, contented sigh. “How many more weeks until finals?”

She groans. “Five. Five weeks of hell. I thought I was anxious for this final term to be over, but now?”

I release her and she slides down my body, firing up all my remaining nerves and ensuring there’s a sizable bulge in my pants as I gather her bags and dump them in the trunk.

She’s already connecting her music player to the stereo when I climb into the driver’s seat again.

I chuckle. “Oh, I see how it is.”

“Yep. Whatcha gonna do about it?”

I just shake my head. “What’s mine is yours.”

“How far away is this place?” she asks me. “And do we have to get all the way there before I get to kiss you properly?”

I capture her hand as it slides up my thigh, giving her a warning growl. “Yes. Because I plan on getting you there in one piece. And it’s about two hours. Not that long compared to a whole week.”

Vera sighs dramatically, but she relaxes back against her seat, singing along to the music.

I intertwine my fingers with hers in my lap and soak it in.

My mate in my truck, a whole weekend to spend with her, and no need to hide our relationship any longer.

Now I just need to convince her to move in with me once college is over.

I had planned to raise that conversation with her on the drive. After all, we’ll have two hours to kill, but by the time we’re thirty minutes down the road, Vera’s hand has grown restless on my thigh and her scent fills the cabin. “Did I mention you look really good in green?”

I’m wearing the shirt she chose for me at the department store two weeks ago. Mostly because I was hoping for this reaction, though I hadn’t factored in receiving it while I still had to concentrate on the road.

I suck in a breath as she picks up my hand in her two smaller ones and brings it to her thigh, sliding our joined fingers until the tip of my pinkie skims beneath the hem of her sweater dress.

“I’m not wearing anything under this,” she whispers.

With a curse, I find the nearest service road and pull off, searching for anywhere with a little cover. We’re really still too close to suburbia. Sprawling houses with wide green lawns and bare trees surround us.

Vera spreads her legs wider, and I catch the hint of soft bush and wet lips under her dress.

It’s then I spot the faded sign—picnic area three miles ahead.

I don’t know how I last three miles with her hand pressing mine to her moist slit, with the little noises she makes as she grinds herself against me, using me for her pleasure.

I don’t take my eyes from the road in case I completely lose control and do something that puts her in danger.

Instead I grit my teeth until the truck has come to a complete stop and I can pull my hand free to tug the handbrake on.

I don’t say anything. I just push my door wide open, leaving the keys in the ignition. I stalk around to her side, fling her door open, and reach inside to yank her out and toss her over my shoulder.

Vera lets out a surprised shriek as I lift her from the truck, but her ripe pussy right by my face tells me everything I need to know about how much she needs this right now.

The rest stop is sheltered from the road by a thatch of trees. There are three worn wooden picnic tables with little pointed roofs clustered together, a faucet, and an outhouse. Simple, but there’s no one here, and that’s good enough for me.

I deposit her on the nearest table and take my seat, pulling her to the edge and pushing her legs apart.

Vera leans back on her elbows as I raise the hem of her dress and reacquaint myself with her.

Her little cunt is covered by dark red hair, the swollen clit peeping out from a deep pink hood at the top of her slit.

Her lips look plump and moist already, and a trail of moisture beads at the tiny opening, promising more nectar once I’ve gone to work.

With a growl, I lean close and drag my tongue along the length of that precious flower. “Couldn’t wait, greedy girl?”

She smothers a moan as I repeat the motion.

“Neither can I.” I tuck my arms beneath her thighs and drag her closer, burying my face in her. Soon she’s writhing on my tongue, gifting me with so much rich cream my chin grows damp. I don’t stop. Why the fuck would I with the world’s sweetest meal laid out in front of me?

Just need something to take the edge off. To touch the sides of this hunger I feel from being without her.

Vera is shaking in my arms, pushing up against my mouth, just as hungry for this as I am.

Carefully I slide two fingers inside her warmth, curling them until she calls my name.

She grips my hair and holds me in place as I work her with my mouth and hand.

The moment her orgasm starts her walls clamp down around me, but I don’t let her push me out.

I just keep applying gentle pressure until she softens and spasms again, crying out, gushing over my fist.

I growl in satisfaction and lick it up, cock straining against the seam of my jeans.

But this is just the taster. There’s no way I’m knotting her here in public where anyone could come past at any moment.

As much as I want to sink inside my mate right now and mark my territory, her scent all over me will have to do.

When her breathing slows, I pull back carefully, easing my fingers from her wet cunt. “Did that help, sweet?”

She pushes up, wrapping her arms around my neck and clinging to me, reading my mind. “Let’s get back on the road. I want you inside me already.”

I couldn’t agree more. Rather than let her walk, I carry her back to the truck and deposit her in her seat, noting with satisfaction the way her creamy scent follows me as I step back and walk around the vehicle.

I’ve got all weekend to bathe in the scent of her pleasure, and we’ve started as I mean to continue.

I’ve heard people in town talking about the owner of Mosswood’s newest accommodation, and to be honest, most of what I heard wasn’t very nice.

When we reach the end of the secluded gravel drive and pull up out front of the first cute little eco-cabin he’s waiting for us, arms folded across his flannelette shirt and a surly expression on his face.

He pushes off the wooden beam he’s been leaning on as I open the door of the truck. “I thought you said two o’clock.”

I was willing to give Gryff Evans the benefit of the doubt, but maybe the townsfolk were right.

This guy is more prickly than a porcupine at mating season.

I give him a forced smile. “Yeah, sorry. We ah… we were delayed.” I offer him my hand to shake, and he gives it a long hard look before eventually clasping it in his firm grip.

“I’m Sebastien, and this is my mate, Vera.” I tip my head toward Vera as she comes to join me.

Gryff eyes the two of us suspiciously. “There’s an additional linen charge for rutting your mate through a heat. She’s not about to go into heat, is she?”

I’m prevented from giving him the rude answer that deserves when a voluptuous blonde woman carrying a bag of trash opens the door to the cabin and immediately makes a face at him. “Gryff Evans, are you trying to charge people for extras that don’t exist again!”

The grouchy werewolf turns and immediately hurries to take the bag of trash from the woman’s hands. “Babygirl, you don’t have to take out the trash. This is my project, remember? And no. Just sayin’ that a heat cycle is a lot of cleaning. I’ve decided to introduce a new fee is all.”

Undeterred, the blonde scoffs. “Nonsense. Don’t be so grumpy.

She gives us a bright smile and a big wave.

“How are you? I’m Honey. Don’t mind Gryff.

He’s kind of new to the whole hospitality thing, but we’ve glad to have you.

You’re some of our first customers, so we’re excited to see what you think. ”

“She’s being nice to you to try to save me from another scathing review,” says Gryff ruefully. “And I should probably listen to her. She’s usually right. How long have you been mated?”

I wrap my arm around Vera and pull her against my side and press a kiss to the top of her head. “Four weeks.” My chest swells with pride every time anyone asks me about Vera.

Gryff gives me a knowing look. “So maybe you haven’t been tormented the way I have yet. You’re still looking too confident. Just wait until she takes you down a peg or two. Fate is always right, and that includes your fated mate.”

Honey just rolls her eyes and jabs her elbow into his side good naturedly.

I can’t help laughing wondering how he came to learn that particular lesson. Sounds like there’s a story there!

They hand us the keys and the check-in information, and I carry our bags in from the truck.

“I like him,” Vera stretches up to kiss my cheek as I hand her the cooler so she can begin transferring the food I brought into the little fridge. I don’t plan on leaving the bed except to cook for her and for Sunday lunch at the Ballards’. This is going to be a perfect weekend.

“Smarter than he looks, I guess.” I give her a wink.

Once all the bags are put away, I throw myself on the bed and wait for Vera to join me. I’m scrolling through my socials, which I haven’t touched in weeks, when she crawls onto the bed and on top of me, curling up there like I’m her personal mattress.

“Mmm. Now where were we? I think we got interrupted before.” She starts unfastening my belt, and I’m just about to put aside my phone when something catches my eye.

My dad has posted another cheesy quote about love. That’s the third one this month. I honestly don’t know why I even have him on my socials except sometimes that’s the only way to know what’s going on in his life. The guy’s not real forthcoming.

I bet he’s got yet another girlfriend he’ll dump within the year.

I click on his profile and stare at the brand-new profile picture which absolutely confirms he has a new girlfriend, only the new girlfriend looks familiar.

The predictable loved-up selfie shows Dad with his arm around an older woman with shoulder-length hair a mix between brown and gray and my square chin.

In the photo my mother is looking at Dad like she wants to eat him up.

In a way she hasn’t looked at him since I was about seven.

I should feel happy. After all, I wished for this every Christmas and forgotten birthday for about five years.

When they were too busy destroying each other’s lives to remember they had a son.

But all I feel is a little sick to my stomach.

There’s no way this lasts. I give this five months before I’m dealing with the fallout yet again.

In disgust, I switch off the screen and toss my phone aside. I’m not letting them ruin my time with Vera. She’s the one thing in my life that’s always represented the pure and perfect to me. So my lousy parents don’t get to intrude on this time.
