Chapter 7 Robert #2

Smack! Joy smacked the shit out of Simone. Perhaps the heels that Simone wore weren’t sturdy, and that was why she was now on the ground. The slap was hard but not fall on the ground hard.

Jubilae walked and stood next to where Simone was still on the ground.

Lanette stood off to the side with her hand over her mouth.

It was clear that she didn’t want any drama.

“Simone, let this be your last time being disrespectful to me, my man, or our daughter. Yeah, I said our daughter because she ain’t bit more yours than that rancid pussy that you passed around to the next man to have that one over there with.

I’m not sure what you thought would happen when you and your daughter strolled in here with your entitlement, but you see what did happen. ”

Joy stepped forward. “See, I slapped the shit out of you because I’ve wanted to since I found out how you treated my niece. Get your ass off the damn floor and out of here before I really beat you the fuck up.”

Simone finally got her ass up with Lanette’s help. Lauren stood there in a world of her own with an ice cream. She couldn’t care less that her grandmother just got slapped. “You ratchet bitch. I should have known you were this . . . ahh!”

Before the punch landed, Chance snatched Joy back.

When Jubilae stepped forward, I grabbed her wrist. “Nope, that’s not what we’re doing.

Simone, security is ready to escort you and your daughter off the premises.

Let me be clear. I’m going easy on this shit because I know you and your ulterior motives.

Make no mistake, you have no more times to play with my daughter, and I’m on your head. ”

“Daddy, why are you doing this? How can you treat us like this?” Lanette reached up to heaven, touched the throne of Christ, then came back down with a mountain of audacity.

I must have missed the second head because she couldn’t be serious.

“Lanette, even when I thought you were my child, you never called me daddy. It feels extremely uncomfortable now. I haven’t began to treat you or your ho ass mama.

Stop fucking playing with me and my family.

Simone, take your daughter, granddaughter, and get the fuck out. ”

“Fuck you, Robert. Kevin is so much of a better man than you. That’s why I let him have me any way that he wanted me, and I’m marrying him.

You nor your limp dick are shit.” Simone yelled at the top of her lungs like I wasn’t right in front of her.

She tried to embarrass me with lies when it was her who was getting embarrassed.

Jubilae’s laughter erupted from her soul. Everyone was quiet as she laughed her ass off. It was a hearty, someone told a Bernie Mac worthy joke. We all waited with bated breaths for her to finish because I felt like I had just found out that my woman was a little off-kilter.

“Simone, sweetie, now you’re reaching deep into your bag of bullshit.

Is this really how you wanted us to meet?

You came here to start malarkey and lie on dick.

” Jubilae walked into Simone’s space. In a low tone, she continued to talk.

“Girl, I understand that you lost a good ass man, but let’s not lie on the dick.

I get that shit every night and sometimes during the day.

“Limp? If it was limp for you, then let me tell you this slowly. It was you, because that dick has no problem in this pussy. Sometimes when pussy is loose, it doesn’t have the grip needed to keep a dick hard,” she antagonized.

I swore I loved that this woman could be as bougie, classy, and corporate as they came, but in the right situation, she’d take you to the pits of hell. When she stood up for my baby girl, that was the last sign that I needed to know what my next move would be.

A Little Time Later . . .

Do I Have Your Blessing

Simonette and Daylen’s baby shower was one to remember. After Jubilae made Simone look foolish, Simone and Lanette left without any further drama. After they left, everything went back to the happy event that it was meant to be. My baby took her new role as Glammie seriously.

I fucked my woman for as long as my dick would allow that night. Contrary to Simone’s word, my dick carried some weight. Jubilae knew how to take that weight well.

It was interesting to find out that Simone and Kevin had plans to get married.

I wasn’t sure if it was true. She didn’t have an engagement ring.

If there was one thing that I knew about Simone, it was that she was materialistic and about the show.

I couldn’t see her accepting a proposal without the proper ring, but that was between her and her fiancé.

The knock on my office door pulled me out of my thoughts. Jackie walked in with the cheesiest smile. “Mr. Sampson is here to speak with you.”

I tittered. “Why are you smiling that hard? You can bring him in. Is Jubilae and Joy still at lunch?”

“Yes, they left about twenty minutes ago. I made sure their reservation was across the city too,” she said before she left my office. Less than a minute later, she was back with Mr. Sampson in tow. “Mr. Sampson, would you like anything to drink?”

He smiled, then nodded his head. “Yes, water will be fine. Thank you, Jackie.”

Jackie told us that she would be back shortly before she left the office. Mr. Sampson was dressed like this was a real ass business meeting. He wore a tailored navy-blue suit with some nice ass wing-tip shoes. I wasn’t going to speak on the hat that he had in hand.

“You sharp, Mr. Sampson! I need to find out who your tailor is.” I ran my hand down his lapel, then took a step back. “That suit is fresh.”

He took a step back, put his hands in his pockets, then struck a pose. “You’re not the only one that can put on a suit. Oh, and I got the best tailor in town when it comes to altering my suits. Her name is Julie Sampson.”

That answer didn’t surprise me at all. In the weeks that I’d had the pleasure to be in Julie’s presence, she had shown that she was a woman of many talents.

She had been such a blessing to Simonette.

My baby girl was overdue and miserable at this point.

Her doctors discussed inducing labor, but she did not want to do that.

Simonette and Rissa ate up the way Jubilae, Joy, and Julie loved them.

Rissa had a lot of abandonment issues when it came to a maternal figure since she never had one.

“I should have known that. Let’s sit over here so we can talk.

” I escorted him to the lounge area of my office.

Just as we sat down, Jackie brought in the water.

Once we were settled in, I shook my nerves off.

“Mr. Sampson, I wanted to have a conversation with you to ask for your blessing to marry your daughter.”

A smirk settled on his face as he sat back comfortably in his seat. “It took you long enough, boy. I knew at Sim’s baby shower that this was coming. Julie told me that night that you were going to marry our baby.”

I chuckled. “It took me long enough? I thought that you would say that we haven’t been together long enough.”

He waved me off. “Robert, you’re almost sixty years old.

If you hadn’t come to me in another few weeks, I would have told my daughter to leave your unsure ass alone.

Y’all are too old to be unsure of what you want and who you want it with.

Now your debacle of a first marriage, I’ll blame that on your youth, so I won’t hold that against you.

Did Jubilae tell you that I told her mother that she was going to be my wife on our first date? ”

My eyelids stretched. “No, she didn’t. I can understand that, though, because I think I knew that Jubilae would be my wife after our third lunch. I don’t have to tell you how amazing of a woman that your daughter is. You know because you and Julie raised her to be the person she is.”

“Do you already have a ring?” he asked. He watched me as I got up and went to my desk to retrieve what he asked for. I stood next to him, then opened the ring box before I gave it to him. His smile slowly built. “Rubies and sapphires, huh?”

My mind went back to that moment that I learned about her love for the precious stones. I had to pull myself from memory lane quickly before my dick embarrassed me in front of my future father-in-law. “My wife deserves the best.”

Mr. Sampson gazed up at me. “Son, you have my blessing. No matter how old she is, that is still my baby girl and will always be. I’m not sure what all of this means for y’all professionally, but protect my daughter.

Executives of these companies are getting assassinated.

If I go to hell, I would rather I go without taking a gang of people with me. ”

I snickered. “You got that, Mr. Sampson. Trust me, she will always be safe with me.”

When he asked if I thought about how I would propose, my eyes involuntarily rolled. I didn’t have to think about it because the women in my life all did it for me. “Yeah, I got it.”
