Epilogue

Three Months Later

Hudson

“You really do have a place!” Piper says, feigning surprise, as she rolls her suitcase into my penthouse near ByWard Market.

Leif and I used to live here together. When he moved to Knoxville, it was more space than I needed, but I love the area too much to give it up.

Besides, now Piper’s here, and it’s perfect for us.

I roll my eyes. “You knew that. I’ve given you the tour,” I remind her.

“Had to step inside to believe it,” she teases.

I take the handle of her suitcase from her hand. “This is all you have?”

She laughs. “The moving company arrives tomorrow.”

I bark out a laugh as relief fills my chest. We’re really doing this. Piper and I are moving in together.

The past three months have been a transition. We did the long-distance thing as she put in her notice at work, packed up her place in Vancouver, and planned to permanently relocate.

I threw myself into the season and played hard, helping the Huskies qualify for the playoffs.

“I’m happy you’re here,” I say, wrapping her in my arms and kissing her lightly.

“Me too. I want to watch playoffs in the stands.”

“Wearing my jersey.”

She grins. “Obviously.”

“Come on.” I tap her ass. “Let me show you the master bedroom.”

“Ooh.” She sashays in front of me toward our bedroom. On the way, she whips off her sweater and drops it on the floor.

I chuckle. “You ready for me?”

“Ready?” Piper spins and unbuttons her jeans. “It’s been too long.”

“Agreed,” I say, pulling off my hoodie.

Even though we’ve made it a point to meet up at least once a month, it was never enough. In fact, every morning I wake up without Piper in my arms is too long.

She giggles as I rush her. Scooping her into my arms, I carry her into my bedroom and drop her in the center of my bed. Gathering her hands in mine, I pin them over her head and press a kiss to her lips.

She presses up into me, pushing her breasts into my chest. “I missed you, Hudson.”

“You have no idea, Pipe.”

I kiss her cheek.

“I’m happy I’m here.”

“I’m more than happy.” I roll my hips over hers.

She giggles. “I have a job interview next week.”

“Yeah?” I pull back to see the glimmer of excitement in her eyes.

She nods, grinning.

“There’s no rush, honey.” I kiss her other cheek. “I want you to be happy here.”

She smiles. “I already am.”

“Good.” I kiss her again and this time, I don’t stop.

In fact, neither of us comes up for air until we’re both sated, our limbs like jelly, our minds in sync, and our stomachs grumbling.

“Let me take you to dinner?” I tug on her arm.

She laughs, shifting to the edge of my bed. “Please do. I’m unemployed now, remember?”

I laugh. “You’ll have a job in no time, Pipe. Any company would be lucky to have you.”

“You have to say that. You’re my boyfriend.”

I run my palm over her ass, appreciating her curves. “And you’re my everything.”

I whisk my girlfriend to dinner, help her settle into our place, and gear up for the playoffs.

And I was right. Piper has a new job, a dream job doing PR and rebranding for NHL players, before the Huskies make it to round two of the playoffs.

My girl is just that good. That smart. That talented.

That everything.
