Chapter 11

Chapter Eleven

Adonis.

“Damn,” my brother mumbled, grabbing my attention.

His little ass was supposed to be showing me some fucking shoes he’d wanted, but he was obviously doing some mo’ shit on my phone. Reaching over, I snatched my phone from him to see what the hell his ass was looking at.

Tina: **two attachments**

Tina: It’s been a while. Come take care of us.

“Tina know she fine as hell,” he shook his head.

Smacking the back of his head, I said, “quit fuckin’ cursin’ and lookin’ through my shit nigga.”

“You ain’t got up with her in a lil’ minute.”

“You don’t know what I don’ did, lil nigga.” I chuckled. “I’m chillin’ though. Tina want to be with a nigga and that ain’t happening.”

“Right because you stuck on fine ass Jru.”

“Nigga.” I popped him on the back of his head again.

“My bad, bro.” He laughed trying to duck.

“Quit playin’ with me.”

The teachers that were on morning duty had come out so that meant it was time for his ass to get out of my car. I’d brought him earlier than usual because Vado hit me up and asked me to come meet him. I’d rather do the shit early because I had a full day planned at the shop.

“Aight, I’ll see you later,” I said, dapping AP up. “Have a good day. I love you too.”

“Love you too, bro.” He leaned in for a quick brotherly hug. “You thought about what I asked you?”

A few weeks ago, he’d asked me about taking some girl he’d been talking to on a date, but I’d told him to put it on ice for a little. I needed to see who her people were as well as meet with them before he took their child out.

“Yeah, I’ll get around to that sometime this week.”

“Bet. I want to take her out ASAP.”

“Aight, I got you. Stay out of trouble, AP. No ISS, lunch detention, or none of that shit today.”

“Aight, Donny, dang.”

I waited until he got to the door before nodding at the teacher that was standing there before I pulled away, heading towards Vado’s shop.

The nigga had been tryna get up with me for a lil’ minute, especially since all the shit went down at the reunion the other week, but I’d been cool on it.

He didn’t want to do shit but cry for his bitch ass step son.

I wasn’t trying to hear it. We had business to finish up though, so I had no choice but to link with him today.

I spoke to the few niggas that were outside already working once I got to my destination, and Gino once I was inside. When I entered Vado’s office, he was posted behind his desk going through a box. He appeared to be trying to figure some shit out or something because he was super focused.

“What you got goin’ on, old man?” I asked making my presence known.

He jumped a little before he glanced my way then he smiled.

“I got your old.”

He accepted the handshake I offered then I descended into one of the chairs in front of his desk while he went back to doing what he was doing.

“What’s all that?”

“My legacy,” he pushed it toward me, “and your future.”

I stood and began going through the box. There were a bunch of notebooks and files in there. I began flipping through some of them seeing a bunch of names, addresses and numbers. Some had dollar amounts next to them.

“These are all of the contacts you’ll need.” He pointed. “Starting with the suppliers; I’ve been working with…” he pointed, glaring at the page where he was pointing.

“Juan Carlos.” I read the name off.

“Juan Carlos,” he repeated and chuckled, “since I started in this game. Your name isn’t new to him. I’ve told him about you and he’s been to the states a few times to check you out himself…”

“The fuck?” I frowned thinking about some incognito nigga sitting in the shadows watching me.

“He wanted to see the man he’d soon be working with for himself.”

I wanted to blank and pop my shit, but I refrained and made a mental note to be more observant than I already was.

I didn’t walk around with my head on constant swivel because I didn’t need to.

I wasn’t dropping bodies and shit just because, but niggas knew that I would without a second thought if need be.

“I’ll have a meeting setup for the two of you very soon, then you’ll take over the reins from there.

The Colombian Cartel doesn’t like surprises.

They’ll need to see me handing things off to you.

Not you taking it,” he said, and I nodded.

“You have your own teams assembled for the northern district, but you’ll need to meet with the sou—”

“I don’t mean to cut you off or no disrespect, but when this is mine, it’s mine.

It won’t be a North and South, it will be run as a whole.

I know you did that to appease me and ya pussy ass step son, but that’s dead when I take over…

” He got ready to say something, but I continued.

“I know you don’t want me to dry up that hoe ass niggas income.

I’m a man of my word, so I won’t, but he won’t be in charge of shit.

He not distro or none of that shit. He gon’ be on the block like the rest of them lil’ niggas, earning his bread. ”

Vado nodded and chuckled. “I have to respect that. You know that some of them only have an allegiance to Jack—”

“Brock.” I corrected.

“Brock,” he nodded while smiling. “So you’ll have to deal with that. Show them that you run things differently than him and even me. Run things with an iron fist with everyone, and you shouldn’t have any issues gaining their respect.”

“Cool,” I replied as I eyed him.

Something was off with him, but I wasn’t gon’ press him about it. I was there for business. If something was up that I needed to know, he’d tell me.

“There are some politicians that I work with as well as some members of ACPD. They’ll keep the heat low, but remember, they’re not loyal to shit but the money. Keep them paid, they’ll keep you out of trouble.”

“Aight, bet.” I nodded as I scanned the list of names. I didn’t want to pressure him to go through all of them.

“I also have my current businesses listed here. I’m going to keep some for, you know, a cushion,” he glanced at me, “but I can transfer the others to you so you can use them for cash flow. You’ll need them.

My accountant is listed here too and expecting your call.

You’ll need someone to help manage your money. ”

He placed the top back onto the box with shaky hands before sitting back in his seat again.

“I just wanted to give you the basics, Dan.”

“Don.” I corrected his ass again, then asked, “you good, Vado? You seem a lil’ off.”

“I’m good,” he assured me before grabbing his cigar then continuing.

“The rest will be up to you. I’ve known you since you were a kid and have witnessed you holding your own for a long time, but you’re about to become a whole new man.

More money means more problems. There will be enemies that come out of the woodwork, not just for you, but the ones you care about too.

Protect yourself and protect your family.

Get a team of men you can trust to protect all of your lives with their own. ”

Vado spent most of his time at his shop, and every man that worked here was on his payroll.

Not just working on cars but securing him too.

Wherever he was, they were close. I was going to have to assemble a trustworthy team because my top priority was keeping my brother safe, and when I got into a relationship, my girl.

I trusted Zig with my life, and even lil’ Deek, but I had plans to have them being distros, so they’d be busy enough.

Vado and I talked for a little longer, finalizing a date when I would meet with his connect and when he wanted to have the party before I left. I had a few appointments at The Cutting Edge that I needed to get out of the way before getting my brother.

I knocked my first two appointments out before I walked down the sidewalk to Spud’s to get something to eat.

A nigga had been running around all day and working like a mothafucka.

I hadn’t eaten, so I grabbed a loaded spud and started eating the shit before I made my way back to the shop while checking my notifications at the same time.

My brother had talked me into putting some bets in on Jackpot, the sports betting app.

“Move, nigga.” I heard a woman snap, pulling my attention from my phone. I noticed that it was Geri going off on Brock’s bitch ass right in front of my spot, so I sped up some.

“Fuck is goin’ on over here?” I asked when I was close enough. I stepped between them just in case this nigga lost his fucking mind and tried hitting her or some shit.

“This ain’t none of yo’ fuckin’ business, nigga, so watch out.”

I quickly pocketed my phone and shoved his ass back with my free hand saying, “shit’s in front of my fuckin’ shop, so I’m makin’ it my mothafuckin’ business. Fuck you gon’ do?”

“Man, Geri, where’s your fuckin’ sister.”

“I wish the fuck I would tell your ass where the fuck she is.”

“Bruh,” he tried taking a step forward, but I pushed him back before turning to Geri to hand her my food.

Though I knew I could beat this niggas ass with my hands tied behind my back, I wanted to use both.

Plus, if he made me drop my food, I was gon’ fuck around and kill him.

“I’m just tryin’ to see about my fuckin’ girl, nigga. Watch out.”

“Naw, what you tryna do is take yo’ ass the fuck on ‘fo you be goin’ to get ya fuckin’ jaw wired shut.”

“You feelin’ ya self because you caught a nigga slippin’ once?”

“Brock, we both know you can’t do shit with me. Bounce before I embarrass yo’ ass out here. Consider that yo’ last fuckin’ warning too.”

He glared at me for a few seconds thinking he was being intimidating or some shit before he turned his gaze to Geri.

“Tell her I’m tryin’ to get in touch with her ass, and it’s in her best interest to reach out to me ASAP.”
