Epilogue Two
One Year Later
“Alright everybody, gather around. Here’s your assignments for the day.
” My voice booms as one hundred and fifty sets of eyes meet my gaze.
We are at day shift's daily meeting held in The Pit of Perdition. I’ll give out posts to each member of the team, and give them a brief overview of what happened during the night shift.
Karson, Cole and Slater come to stand beside me, and I begin telling everyone where they will go. I split them in groups of thirty, one group to cover each tower and another for the main area. Coming to the last four men standing by, I give them their posts.
“Cole, you’re over in Hades today. There’s a boxing match taking place at four p.m. Gather a team of ten and take them to the arena with you.”
“You got it.” He says and walks over to the group I assigned Hades to, and picks his team.
“Slater, obviously you’re up in the booth. Grab Jeremy and two more guys you trust and take them with you.” He nods and finds the three men he’s been training in surveillance, then they make their way to the security room.
“What kind of fuckery am I in for today, Mav?” Karson asks, coming to stand in front of me.
“You’re going over to Abaddon.” I start and I watch his eyes light up like a christmas tree. As if he didn’t already know. After the casino opened, he all but demanded that it be his only post. I don’t care much, he's still effective, but he’s definitely preoccupied with one of the bartenders.
“Elias will go with you.” I say and watch his shoulders deflate. Elias steps up beside me and gives me a pat on the back.
“Maverick.” He states in greeting and I reach out to shake his hand. Elias is in his fifties, with salt and pepper hair and stubble on his face to match. He stands about six foot five with cold green eyes that slide from me to Karson, who stares at our exchange.
“You want me to take him over to Abaddon? Can he even keep up in an area like that?” Karson mocks and I laugh, shaking my head.
“I’ll run circles around you, you fucking punk.” Elias states cooly adjusting the sleeves on his shirt while Karson glares at him.
“He’s the only other person we have who can handle an area like Abaddon.” I tell him mildly irritated. “He’ll fuck you up Karson and you know it.” Karson scoffs.
“Father time over here can fuck me up? Yeah, okay Mav.” Elias calmly steps away from me and stands in front of Karson, who’s giggling like a little kid.
In a flash, Elias delivers a fist directly into Karson’s throat.
His hands fly to his neck on instinct, Karson doubles over and coughs, trying to catch his breath.
“What the fuck was that for?” He wheezes.
“Watch your mouth, Tate.” Elias says and Karson pulls himself together.
“Fuck alright, fine. You can tag along, old man.” He says reluctantly, rubbing his throat.
“Karson.” I warn. His need to push buttons is going to get him in some shit eventually, which is exactly why I paired them together.
“Where the fuck are you going, anyways? We’re always together.” Karson questions.
“I’ve been here for twelve hours. I’m going home to my wife.” I tell him and he smirks.
“Tell my Babe I said hellooo.” He winks and Elias handles my dirty work, smacking Karson upside the back of his head.
“Yeah, you two are going to be just fine.” I laugh as they turn to head toward Abaddon.
Shaking my head, I make sure everyone has gone to their respective areas, and walk out into the parking garage.
My bike sits parked behind the valet, and he sees me coming.
The same kid who was terrified of me when I first arrived at Perdition, gives me a slight nod.
I return it and walk over to where my R1 sits.
Tugging on my helmet, I mount the machine and start the engine.
I back out of my parking space and leave the casino behind me.
I ride down the long, winding road from Perdition for about ten minutes, then throw on my blinker to turn into my driveway.
After we returned to Oregon last year, we sold both of our houses and moved closer to Perdition.
We bought a two story craftsman style home, similar to the one Parker lived in before.
She loved that small house so much, when we moved I found the one we live in now online, and bought it sight unseen.
It’s much bigger than her old one, but she’s turned it into a home.
We tried like hell to get pregnant after we got married, and after a few months with no luck, we went to doctors.
It turns out, all of the abuse she endured has made it almost impossible for her to be able to carry a child.
If I could, I’d raise Preston from the pits of Hell, and kill him again.
It broke her heart to learn that we would most likely never have children, but she has since accepted it and we have enjoyed our life together.
Nick lives about thirty minutes away in a much larger, more modern home, and he kept his Rhode Island house–often traveling back and forth.
When we announced to our friends we would be moving, Ashlynn promptly quit her job at Doc’s and followed, stating she was never letting her best friend out of her sight again.
They’re over at the house often, which eventually grates my nerves, but it’s worth it to see how happy Parker is.
Her life is still full, and surrounded with the love she deserves.
I’d give anything to see the smile on her face whenever we have everyone over for dinners, or barbecues.
Turning off the engine, I park my bike in the garage next to Parker’s Jeep then remove my helmet and stand from the bike.
Placing it on the seat, I walk through the garage and open the door that leads into our laundry room.
Opening another door, I step into our kitchen and scan the main living area for her.
The sound of paws slapping on the hardwood floor fills the space.
After everything that happened, I refuse to leave Parker without every layer of protection possible.
The house is surrounded with cameras, and she’s more than capable of handling her own with a gun, but I went a step further.
Once we moved I found the most reputable Malinois breeder in the area and purchased two puppies.
When they were old enough, we sent them to training and they are the most well trained protection dogs I have ever met.
I work long hours at the casino, so at least she isn’t home alone.
These two would absolutely tear someone’s face clean off over her and that helps ease my mind.
Leaning down I scratch them both behind the ears as they sit at my feet.
Walking to the sliding back door, I open it and let them out into the large, fenced in back yard.
I close the door and look around the living and dining rooms for Parker.
Not seeing her, I step into the house further, and climb the stairs to the second floor where our bedroom is.
Walking into the room, I hear the shower running and I quickly remove my clothes.
Dropping them in a pile on the floor, I pad my way to the bathroom and open the door.
Steam fills the room, and I watch as she washes her body and rinses herself off.
Stepping into the shower behind her, I wrap my arms around her waist. She spins around, and wraps hers around my waist.
“How was your night?” She asks sweetly as I rub lazy circles on her back.
“Too long. I couldn’t wait to get home to you.” I respond and lower myself to her lips. She kisses me back with equal need, and I rub my erection against her stomach.
“I need you.” She whispers against my lips, and I waste no time lifting her off of her feet.
Her legs wrap around my torso, and I carry her out of the shower, not bothering to shut the water off and over into the bedroom.
Breaking our kiss, I drop her on top of the mattress, her hair soaking the comforter.
She gazes up at me, her amber eyes full of lust. Placing my knee on the mattress, I climb over her body and rub my nose against her collar bone.
“Your wish is my command, Mrs. Cain.” I whisper in her ear, and push my cock inside of her in one go. Her back bows off the bed, and I wrap my right hand around her throat. She lays flat again, and bites the corner on her bottom lip while she stares up at me.
“Look at me, Raven. I want your eyes on me while I fuck you.” I growl as I pull my hips back then slam into her tight, wet pussy.
Picking up the pace, my hips thrust in and out of her wildly.
Her neck arches under my grip, and I squeeze a little harder, reminding her of where she needs to be looking.
She adjusts, and her heavy eyes flutter open to meet mine.
“So fucking beautiful.” I rasp, feeling her cunt tighten around me. “That’s it. Come for me, Sweetheart.” I slam into her harder and faster, knowing that’s what she needs.
“Oh fuck, Maverick. Don’t stop.” She whimpers, and it’s my undoing.
Thrusting at a chaotic pace, she tightens around me and her eyes flutter closed.
Giving her another gentle squeeze, they open and she gazes into my eyes as she shatters around me.
Thrusting once more, I still, and fill her with my come.
Removing my hand from her throat, I lean down and lock my lips with hers.
When I pull back, I see the sleepy look in her eyes as she gives me a soft smile and moans softly.
Remaining inside of her until I’m satisfied nothing leaks out, I gently pull out of her and tug the covers down. She climbs underneath them and pats the space next to her.
“I’m sure you’re exhausted. Come to bed.” She says and after shutting off the shower, I slide in behind her. Wrapping an arm around her middle, I tug her into me and pepper her neck with soft kisses. Whispering goodnight, I hold her tighter and we fall asleep.
A phone ringing wakes me from my deep sleep, and I roll over in bed to look at my alarm clock, seeing that it’s four in the afternoon.
Looking back down at Parker, I see she is still passed out.
Carefully, I pull away from her and rise from the bed.
Walking over to my pile of clothes on the floor, the phone stops ringing as I fish it out of my pants pocket.
Tapping the screen I see four missed calls. One from Slater, one from Elias, and two from Karson.
God damnit.
Tugging on my jeans, I silently walk out onto the private patio off of our bedroom. Before I can hit redial, the device rings again in my hand. Answering the call, I pull the phone to my ear.
“What?” I snap into the receiver.
“Well good morning to you too, Mav. Listen, we need you back here.” Karson says on the other line, and I look through the glass doors at my sleeping wife. Letting out a sigh, I pinch the bridge of my nose.
“What happened?” I ask.
“Someone jumped off of Abaddon.”
