Chapter 51 #2
Remy smiled. "Thank you."
Ronnie crossed the table and sat. She patted the seat next to her. "Come on, Counselor. You can sit next to me."
"With pleasure, gorgeous." Boogie chuckled low, setting down the bowl and going over to sit next to her. "You smell good," I heard him mumble.
"I know." Ronnie smirked swirling the wine in her glass.
Me and Remy shared knowing smiles.
"Thank y'all for joining us tonight," Remy began. "I hope that this can be the beginning of something we can do more often."
"Me and my best friend are a package deal," Ronnie said. "Plus, I like to eat so you'll see me." She was already reaching for the bowl of lemon-garlic pasta with prawns. "Can I take a plate home?" She paused.
"As much as you want." Remy nodded.
As she was making her plate, Ronnie glanced over to see Boogie was watching her closely. "You gon' stare at me all night or you want my autograph now?" she smirked
Boogie laughed lightly reaching for a lobster. "You aggressive as hell."
"Aggressive? This coming from the man who drives like he owns the roads."
He laughed. "You still on that?"
"You almost took me out before dinner." Ronnie cut her eyes at him.
Boogie leaned back in his chair studying her with clear amusement. "You this difficult with everybody or am I special?"
"Definitely special." Ronnie smiled sweetly. "Most men annoy me quietly. You did it theatrically."
I snickered while Remy shook his head me with a smirk.
"Yeah…" Boogie nodded slowly, eyes shimmering in delight. "I like you already."
Melo hummed softly next to me as he poked at his food, already yawning.
"You tired, sweetheart?" I asked stroking his curls gently.
He gave me a sleepy smile and nodded.
Remy got up and stood over Melo to crack open a crab leg for him. "Eat before you start getting too sleepy, buddy."
"Okay, Daddy." He nodded before looking back at me. "GG, can you squeeze lemon on mine please?"
"Of course, baby." I smiled grabbing the lemon wedge.
Ronnie caught my expression from across the table and softened behind her wine glass.
Boogie looked between me and Remy. "Y'all look like a family." He nodded with a soft smile. "Y'all definitely in love."
Remy didn’t even hesitate. "Bad." He looked over at me with that look. "She got me gone," he confessed with no shame.
Heat rushed to my face while Ronnie bit back her smile.
"You're good for her," she said, tone quiet but serious. "Initially, I wasn't a big fan of this," she admitted. "But seeing the three of y'all together now…I've never been more happy to be wrong." She let out a satisfied sigh. "You take care of my girl."
Remy looked over at me, deep into my eyes. "I will."
"And you do the same for my, bro," Boogie added. "He's the best man I know."
I held Remy's eyes. "Without a question."
Dinner stretched on for another couple of hours filled with laughter, teasing, and warmth. When Melo started nodding off at the table, that’s when we decided to call it a night.
"Bye, sweet baby." Ronnie hugged him snugly.
"Bye, Ms. Ronnie. Thank you for coming," he smiled.
Ronnie poked out her lip and looked up at us. "Can I keep him?" she asked.
Remy chuckled. "You gotta get past Gianna first."
"And I already said no," I chimed in smiling.
She rolled her eyes. "You a hater."
We laughed before wrapping our arms around each other.
"I'm 'bout to fuck his friend," Ronnie whispered in my ear.
"Ronnie—" I hissed under my breath.
"Don't worry. I ain't gon' charge him that much," she chuckled low before kissing my cheek.
I didn’t even get a chance to protest further before she was hugging Remy and saying bye to him. I hugged Boogie next.
"Next time we link up, I'll tell you all about how wild Rem was in college," he cracked.
"Don’t listen to nothing he say, baby." Rémy smiled looking over at me.
Laughing lightly, I nodded. "It was great to meet you, Boogie. Take care." We watched them head out together, talking in low tones as they shut the door.
Remy threw his arm around my shoulder leaning in. "So…you know they 'bout to fuck right?"
Laughing, I nodded. "Oh, I know. But does he know—?" I let the statement hang.
He rubbed his beard with a chuckle. "If he ain't figured it out yet, he will soon. Ronnie seems expensive." He shook his head.
"Trust me. She is." I shook my head still laughing. I turned to face him. "I'll clean up here. You go ahead and get Melo cleaned up."
"You sure?" He pressed his forehead gently towards mine.
My eyes flicked over to Melo who was sprawled on the couch now, half asleep. "I'm sure. Go clean my baby up."
Remy exhaled slowly. "I love when you say that."
I gave him a quick kiss before he scooped Melo up to bathe.
The kitchen was basically clean because Remy was a stickler for cleaning as he cooked.
Once the dining room and kitchen was all clean and the dishwasher running, I set the alarm and made my way to the master bathroom.
I smiled the whole time as I pinned up my hair and did my nighttime skincare routine.
