Chapter 63
I almost climbed on the wing of the plane when Gianna left for a month.
I was terrified she wouldn't come back. I knew she loved me, but the thought of her leaving so fresh in her recovery settled in my spirit raw and painful.
But I knew she needed it.
And…I knew that I couldn't hold on to her like that. I had gotten so used to loss that I clung too hard. I had to trust that our love was strong enough to survive whatever came our way—distance included.
And now…my baby was finally back. I couldn't wait to wrap my arms around her. Kiss her. Tell her how much I loved her and take her home. But next time she wanted to enjoy country living, me and Melo were coming.
I was on the floor, engaging with my staff when the door opened. I saw my son bounce in first. And then…my Gianna. I swear it felt like she was walking in slow motion as our eyes landed on each other.
Everything around me faded. The music. Conversations. The clatter from the kitchen.
All I saw was her—healthy, glowing, and smiling. Still as beautiful as the day she sat at that corner table eating. I knew she would be mine then. And now she finally was. A grin spread across my face quickly.
"Daddy!" Melo yelled running ahead of her. I scooped him up automatically, but my eyes never left Gianna as she walked closer. Melo wrapped his arms around my neck dramatically. "GG said next time we can go to the farm too."
"Damn right," I muttered still staring at her. "'Cause a month was disrespectful." Gianna laughed softly and that sound hit me right in the chest. I set Melo down and the second his feet touched the floor; I pulled her into my arms.
Finally.
She melted against me instantly with a relieved sigh and I buried my face in her neck holding her tighter than I probably should've in public. "I missed you so fucking much," I murmured against her skin.
"I missed you too, baby," she said against my neck.
I pulled back just enough to look at her before kissing her slow and deep right there in the middle of my restaurant.
My staff started hollering and clapping in the background.
"AYYYY CHEF!"
"About damn time!"
"Get a room!"
Gianna laughed against my mouth while I grinned kissing her one more time just because I could. When I finally pulled back, I rested my forehead against hers. "You home, beautiful?" I asked softly.
Her eyes watered, but she smiled. "I'm home, handsome."
Yeah…
My life was complete now. Everything in my world felt exactly how it was supposed to be.
