Chapter 21-Luxury
Audrey's POV...
"You met Alexa?" He asked. I could feel the slight change in his voice... like relief or something.
He sighed. "Can you call back later? I'm busy at the moment. I can't talk right now" he said and ended the call.
I gasped in shock. I stared at my phone. Did he just do that? To think I was the one who spoke to him first after eternity of acting like strangers.
I fumed. He wanted to play silly, huh? I'll show him silly. I'm best at it and I had just the perfect strategy in mind.
We arrived in Paris just a few hours later. Benefits of flying in a private jet.
I stepped down and the fresh air refreshed my being and calmed my nerves.
"Where's my reservation?" I asked Lena.
"Your ride is on its way. It'll drop you at the hotel you'll be staying at"
I nodded and folded my arms.
"The stylist is still requesting for your final say concerning your choice of materials and designs" Lena said.
"You know my style Lena, you can do that yourself" I gave her a knowing look. "But listen, I don't want something mediocre, I want the best"
"Sure then. You can trust me to do that" she affirmed.
My ride arrived soon enough and we were headed to my reservation. The streets of Paris looked so beautiful. The buildings, the cars, the light, everything was so lovely.
We arrived at the hotel and the exterior said a lot about it. We drove in and as soon as we came to a stop, I tried coming down.
"Here, put this hat on. At least that way, people wouldn't recognise you much" I looked through the window and discovered that some people had already started taking pictures of the car.
I put on the hat.
"And this one too," she added and handed me sunglasses.
I put it on too.
"Now, you don't look like you anymore" she said and I stepped down.
I entered inside and the interior mesmerised me. The paintings, the colour, the chandelier, everything was so my style.
I turned around to look for Lena and nearly burst into laughter at her disguise. She looked like someone who had googled 'how to hide in public' and followed every result at once.
The loose jacket, the scarf around her neck, the badly positioned cap on her head and sunglasses made her look more suspicious than invisible.
"What are you wearing?" I asked, amused.
"A disguise" she replied.
"I know, but you look funny. Kids might actually think you're a clown or something" I laughed a bit.
"I don't care," she said and pushed the sunglasses very close to her eyes. "As long as it disguises me,"
"You know you're overdoing it a bit. You're not the popular one here" I said.
"I'm aware. But I'm the manager to a popular model, that makes me popular too"
I smiled.
She moved towards the front desk and I trailed behind her.
"We have a suite reserved already. Room 504B" Lena said.
The girl behind the counter looked at Lena in surprise and then looked at me.
"Wait, room 504B, reserved for Audrey Willows?" She asked and Lena nodded.
Great! What was the point in disguising ourselves when someone still found out our identity?
"Oh my God" she shrieked. That drew the attention of some people around.
I coughed uncomfortably and used the hat to cover my face more.
"I can't believe it. Audrey Willows. I've met Audrey Willows? For real" she said excitedly and wanted to cry.
I took that as my cue to come in.
"Hey, it's nice meeting you" I touched her hair. It was soft.
"I can't believe I'm meeting my role model," she said again.
Just how many of my mentees was I going to meet today?
"I love you so much and I wish I have the confidence and boldness you have, but I'm too shy to put myself out there. I don't know what people are going to say" she looked down and tugged at the hem of her shirt.
"You know what" she looked at me. "I want you to see it from this perspective. Whoever will talk about you, do they pay your bills?"
She shook her head.
"Do they feed you?"
She shook her head again.
"And I'm sure they wouldn't buy you your favourite car either. So why would their opinions bother you? It's not about being bold or confident, it's about knowing that unless you make a move, you'll never be any closer to achieving your dreams"
"Don't let their opinions bother you," I continued. "Because when you succeed, they'll claim to have been friends with you"
"Besides, I'm not always that bold" I added and she laughed
"Here, take this" I gave her my handkerchief. One of my favourite ones. "Consider this your lucky charm"
She smiled brightly at me. "Thank you so much" she hesitated. "Can I hug you?"
"Uhh..." I looked at Lena. "Let's just shake hands"
"I hope you achieve your dreams" I said and she handed me the key card to my room.
"You're my role model. I love you so much" Lena mimicked on our way to the suite.
We burst into laughter.
"That's my second mentee for today. The first was Jonathan's sister and she's a model"
"What?" She exclaimed and stopped in her tracks.
I just smiled and kept walking.
"That girl I gave your card is Jonathan's sister?" She asked and I nodded.
"No way," she gushed.
The door unlocked with a soft beep as I slid the key card into its place.
"Now that you mentioned it, they really look alike. But I thought his mother hated models, how come?"
"Listen Lena, I don't care. But what I do care about is that I'm using this golden opportunity to my advantage" I said.
I dropped the key card on the table and walked around the suite. It was very lovely.
I took a deep breath. This was why I loved Paris and its hotels. Definitely the best.
This suite was definitely my style. I entered the room and saw the massive bed. It looked soft.
"I can't wait to sleep on that bed" I said excitedly.
"We'll sleep on it together," Lena said from behind.
"No uh. That's not happening. I'll take the bed, you'll take the floor or the couch" I pointed to the couch.
"Until tonight then. But you should be careful because you might end up being the one to sleep on the floor" she said and I started laughing.
"Your wardrobe is here" she announced.
I giggled excitedly.
I followed her to the living room in the suite. She opened the door and two females pushed in a wardrobe of clothes.
It was four wardrobes in all which contained clothes, bags, shoes and accessories. Two girls carried each wardrobe, so it was eight girls in all.
I couldn't take any clothes with me while coming, so I had Lena source for the best stylist in Paris to design a new set of clothes for me.
The girls bowed after they had set the wardrobe inside and left.
"You're with the device right?" I asked Lena.
She nodded.
"Scan everything," I said.
She went inside and brought out a bug detecting device.
We got that from South Korea. It could detect even a tiny device that has been attached to anything.
She scanned the entire wardrobes and found nothing.
"Great. What time does the conference start?" I asked.
"It starts by seven o'clock. Then the party starts by nine o'clock. Tomorrow is the gala" she replied.
"Okay then. I want to start with the best outfit in this wardrobe. That'll be my first step in my plot against Jonathan" I smiled mischievously.
Oh ho ho ho. I'm excited for her plot.
