27. Lina #2

My breath shook. “What are we, Jonathan? Is this a new game we play? You, teaching me how to fuck while you get off on that high? Then, we bicker and banter at work as if nothing happened?”

“No. No games. I’m yours. You’re mine. I’m your boyfriend. You’re my girlfriend. I want an exclusive relationship. Just you and me.” His firm words flowed out of his mouth in a smooth cadence, without hesitation. “If this were a game, I’d be honest about it.”

He paused to swallow thickly before continuing. “Truth is I’m so fucking scared, Lina.”

“Of what?” I asked.

“I’m scared of losing you—the same way my mom lost my dad. Or worse, you losing me. I-I—” His words choked up in a hoarse, raw voice. “I’d feel horrible if I died, leaving you to live in pain like my mom and—”

“Jonathan,” I managed to croak. I placed a hand on his chest to feel his heart rapidly beating.

“I know. It’s stupid,” he scoffed. “But what if I died all of a sudden and left you?”

“You’re not going to die,” I said gently.

“Maybe not now. But one day I will.” He looked at me and placed a hand over the hand I had over his heart.

He squeezed it tightly. A frown was deep on his lips, contorting his face.

“Despite all these fears, the one thing I’d regret the most on my last breath—whether it’s tomorrow or when I’m ninety-five—is if I gave up this opportunity to be with you. ”

His bottom lip trembled. “Like I said last night, I’m an honest man.

I want you. Every single bit that’s you.

Lina. Raw. Unfiltered. You.” He panted with a ragged breath.

“I want your pretty mouth, your undivided attention, and your gentle heart. I want to know every inch of your beautiful body down to every single crevice of your blazing, fiery soul. I want all of you, Lina Lee. I’m fucking scared to the bones that I’m going to die and leave you behind one day, but I’m not going to let that fear hold me back. I want to be with you.”

My throat clogged with writhing emotions. Tears burned my eyes like acid and blurred my sight. I couldn’t say anything. I couldn’t even breathe.

“Jonathan,” I rasped.

“You’re special to me, Lina. You’re like me. We’re one and the same,” he said back. “I refuse to let you pass me by like you didn’t take hold of me—of my sanity. I will never be the same now you’ve truly left your mark in my life.”

He paused for a moment as we both gasped for air. “Do you want this as much as I do?”

“Yes. Of course, yes.”

His hands cupped my face and, before I could take a gasp of air, he plunged into me. I let him guide me through an unrelenting kiss as we tangled our tongues, sucking, biting, and breathing heavy.

“Fuck, Lina,” he breathed, pulling away. His sex twitched against my stomach as he bit his bottom lip. “I’m trying to be a gentleman here.”

I narrowed my eyes at him. “Jonathan, you’re a gentle man, yes. However, you’re no gentleman. You fucked me with your fingers last night. Several times.”

“And then ate you out in the back of my car.” He groaned as his length stirred, recalling the events of last night. “I’m sorry, Lina. I should’ve taken it slow with you.”

I scoffed. “I’m a virgin and inexperienced. But that doesn’t mean I’m ignorant, or that I didn’t want what we did last night, Professor Lo.”

Jonathan hummed. The vibrations were deep and guttural, practically sounding like a growl. “That is the last thing you should be calling me right now, Darling.”

“Why not?” I allowed my voice to dip low into a velvety tone. The heat deep in my lower stomach roiled.

He swallowed, jaw working. “Patience is a virtue, Lina. We need to take it easy and slowly.”

I smiled, ready to say the wittiest thing on my tongue. Jonathan’s hand came up to take hold of my chin. His gentle touch soothed and doused the fiery desire burning over my skin.

“Not yet, alright? I don’t want to hurt you.” He kissed my forehead, pulling me into a tight embrace.

“Okay,” I murmured, wrapping my arms around his waist.

He breathed me in. “Sex is fun, but I want all the lovey-dovey crap, too, Lina.” I laughed, and he hummed into my hair. “I fucking love that sound.”

“My laugh?” I smiled, curved lips pressed against his clavicles.

“Yeah, it sounds like a chime. You have a nice laugh.” His voice reverberated throughout his chest as his heart hammered against mine.

“You said that—”

“In the janitor’s closet,” he breathed. “Yeah.”

I peered up at him. His neck flushed in a splotchy red. “You also got hard.”

His dick twitched at the mention of him. “It was your nipples.”

“I figured.” I laughed again. “Speaking of that tiny janitorial closet at work, what about work and our relationship?”

“The pharmacy prohibits employee fraternization,” Jonathan nodded slowly. He smiled softly down at me, holding my face.

“And?”

“This will unfortunately have to be our secret. But I can’t say I’m confident about keeping it that way.”

I arched a brow at him. “Why?” I cooed, nuzzling my face into his chest and breathing in his salt-and-fresh-citrus cologne. I scraped my teeth over his T-shirt and over his nipple. His breath hitched. “Because you’re too emotionally reactive?”

An icy glare narrowed his gaze as the corner of his lips curled into a playful snarl. “Is that how you see me, Dr. Lee? Reactive?”

“Careful, Dr. Lo,” I cooed with a smirk. “I’m your subordinate, sir.”

He threaded his hand through the roots of my hair and yanked me into his lips in a bruising, intense kiss. We heaved and gasped for air when we parted, my saliva trailing down his chin.

With his face only a few centimeters away, he breathed down my neck in a fiery exhale. “Careful, Dr. Lee. I only reward the one who behaves.”

I tiptoed, ready to bite his lower lip into a kiss, but he pulled back at once. His strong arms kept every attempt I made at bay. A deep chuckle rumbled out of him. Lips crooked into an arrogant smirk. Dark eyes stormed with delight at the sight of my failure to kiss him.

“I suggest you mind your manners at work,” he murmured.

My brows furrowed. “My manners?”

“Yes.” His hands relaxed against my shoulders.

“If I don’t?” I glowered.

His finger came up to draw a line straight down my lips.

It snagged down my bottom lip at a slow, sensual pace.

While my breath became uneven, his remained steady and unbothered.

He continued moving his fingertip, now wet with my saliva, down my chin and jaw, to the base of my neck in one smooth movement.

“No touching. No kisses. No. Climaxing.”

I swallowed thickly, indignant. Jonathan thrust his face closer to me, lips stretched wide, ghosting over mine.

“Behave, Dr. Lee,” he murmured.

I closed the sliver of space between us and licked a long strip up and over his hot, kiss-swollen lips with my tongue. As he did earlier, I pulled away as he leaned toward me with a groan. He frowned.

“You don’t tell me what to do, Dr. Lo,” I stated.

He hummed, now scowling, brow cocked and lips pursed. I knew that look. He wanted to win, and so did I.
