Chapter 13 #2
Outside, the rain pelted the windows. The percussion matched the thrumming of her heart.
She did as she was told. He moved to her.
The hair on his legs tickled her inner thigh.
He still held on to her hips and tightened his grip.
He shifted his hips forward and entered her a little and then, a little more.
She wanted him in deeper and ground her ass against his hips. He sank inside of her, and Lucy gasped as he entered her fully. The pressure in her middle started to build again. Aiden pumped into her from behind.
With nothing to see and nothing to hear beyond the rain and her own ragged breath, Lucy was awash in sensations.
Aiden was inside of her. Her feet were tangled around his legs.
His fingers dug into her hips. Her hands were pressed into the covers on the bed.
And still the pressure, like she was a bomb about to explode, filled her.
Leaning forward, he covered her back with his chest. “Roll over,” he whispered in her ear. “I want to kiss you.”
Lucy crawled forward onto the bed. The mattress creaked under her weight. She flipped onto her back. Aiden knelt between her thighs. She wanted him inside of her again. She needed her release.
“Kiss me,” he said.
Blindly, she reached for him and circled her arms around his neck. She placed her lips on his. His tongue slipped into her mouth at the same moment that his cock slid into her. Lucy wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling him closer and taking him in deeper.
Lightning lit up the sky. The flash came in through a seam where the drapes didn’t meet.
She looked down to where they joined, and she could see him entering her.
Lucy was dizzy with longing. Holding on to his shoulders, she buried her face against his chest. “Aiden,” she cried out as she came. “Aiden, Aiden. Aiden.”
He drove into her harder. Faster. His breath came in short and ragged gasps. His cock throbbed. Throwing back his head, Aiden let out a moan. His breath washed over her shoulder. He kissed her again, softly. “I’ll be right back. I gotta take care of the rubber.”
“I’ll be here,” she said.
He padded softly from the room.
Her limbs were loose, and her mind was fuzzy, but only in the best way.
Sure, she’d had sex before. But it had never been like that.
She pushed onto her elbows. She needed to get dressed, but her clothes were in the living room.
She scooted to the edge of the bed and felt on the floor for her silk shirt.
Her hand touched cotton fabric. It was Aiden’s shirt, and as far as she was concerned, close enough. For now, she could skip her underwear.
She worked her arms into the sleeves and pushed the buttons through the plackets. His musky scent surrounded her. The fabric rubbed her raw nipples.
Had she really just hooked up with a guy on the first date?
She should be scandalized by her behavior, but she wasn’t. Having sex with Aiden was the most natural thing she’d done in years. But what was she supposed to do now? Leave? Stay?
Before she could decide, Aiden’s voice came out of the darkness. “Hey.”
“Hey, yourself.” And then, “You can’t see, but I borrowed your shirt.”
“I bet you look cute,” he said.
“Adorable, actually.”
“I just wanted you to know that there’s a flash flood warning. Travel is inadvisable.”
“Inadvisable,” she repeated, as if the word didn’t make sense. “How am I supposed to get home?”
“You can’t,” he said. “At least not tonight. You can stay here, if you want.”
“If there’s flooding, I won’t have any other choice.
” She heard the snark in her tone. The thing was, she hadn’t meant to snap.
It’s just that she hadn’t been away from the ranch in years.
And that had been to visit her mother in Colorado for a weekend.
Rising from the bed, she said, “I need to talk to Grandpa Rusty.”
“Here.” Aiden had been holding his phone all along. He turned on the flashlight, shining it on the floor. After an hour in the dark, the light was blinding.
She followed him out of the bedroom, down a short hallway and into the living room. Her clothes lay next to the sofa. She picked up her pants and found the phone in her back pocket. Lucy pressed the home button and the screen winked to life. A red banner scrolled atop the display.
Weather warning.
Flash flooding in the area.
No unnecessary travel.
“Are you sure it’s okay if I stay with you? I mean, I am kinda stuck.”
“You are welcome here anytime,” he said.
Would she be back? They’d gone out on a date. They’d had sex. Did that mean they were in a relationship? A situationship? “I need to let my grandfather know that I won’t be home tonight.”
“I’ll give you a minute.”
Grandpa Rusty’s contact was there when she opened the app. The last time she’d placed a call, she’d been trapped in the burning barn. For a split second, embers floated around her like snowflakes. She forced the image from her mind and placed the call. It was answered after the first ring.
“Luce? That you?” asked her grandfather.
“Hey, I didn’t mean to wake you.”
“I wasn’t sleeping. I’ve been waiting up for you.”
“I’m not coming home tonight. There’s a flood warning.”
“The weather is bad,” said Rusty. “You stay put, if that’s okay. If it isn’t, I’ll come and get you.”
“I’ll be fine here tonight,” she said. “Aiden’s a perfect gentleman.”
“Stay safe. I’ll see you in the morning.”
“See you in the morning,” she echoed, before ending the call.
“Everything okay?” Adien asked.
Of course he had heard every word she said. In an apartment this small, there was no privacy. “Grandpa Rusty knows I won’t be home tonight. At least he won’t worry.”
“I don’t know about you,” he said. “But I’m beat. I’ll let you decide the sleeping arrangements. I can stay on the couch, if you want. But I’d like to share my bed with you. Your choice.”
To her it seemed silly to sleep apart after everything they’d already done. “We can share your bed.”
“I’ll find some extra pillows,” said Aiden.
“Be there in a minute.” Lucy waited until she heard the bedroom door open.
Then, she knelt on the floor and found her jeans again.
Halfway down one leg was her underwear. As she stepped into her panties, Lucy waited for feelings of guilt or regret to sneak up on her, tapping her on the shoulder, and yelling, “I’m here! ”
But the feelings never came. She had zero remorse for sleeping with Aiden.
Well, she had zero remorse for sleeping with Aiden tonight.
But the morning could be a different story.
