Prologue
Ihad a normal, happy upbringing, with my younger brother and me always getting up to mischief, our parents were great and brought up in the life any child would be happy to have.
I decided on a life of servitude after the 9/11 attacks on our country, the last couple of formative years was spent training hard in hopes I would be ready for BUDs. I don’t regret entering the services and I’m proud I have the unique ability to protect the citizens of the United States.
Four months ago, life was good, I was a bachelor living each day as a man on a mission. Being an elite door kicker and business owner was my claim to the world.
I lived a busy action filled life protecting the country I love and helping rid the world of evil, constantly away with my brothers on deployments and growing my security business, and I was happy or so I thought…
Nothing, and I mean nothing could have ever prepared me for the sudden death of my brother, Andrew and sister-in-law, Anne. My whole world changed in an instant with their loss. Life was always a series of adventures but becoming Alexa’s guardian was a whole new venture all on its own and was never something I ever thought I’d be doing, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
My parents offered to take on Alexa and I didn’t even take a second to think over my answer, it was an instant and a resounding ‘no’. My brother trusted me to look after his little girl, who I love dearly and I will honor his last request.
It was then that I found a life of fun, happiness and real adventure. My why. Why I was put on this earth, my true purpose. I found out what life is really about, love... and being loved by my girls. Alexa my beautiful, sassy four-year-old niece; my mini me, who I now have the immense honor of raising, and Lily… Lily stole both our hearts the moment Alexa and I met her, she is, my angel, my love.
There’s such a purity to Lily that is undeniable, she doesn’t have a bad bone in her body, she is a rare, beautiful, kindhearted soul and the other half of my heart.
I never imagined finding my one, my person, but I have and I don’t want to let her go, she is my angel. Andrew always said, ‘When it’s right, it’s right. You just know’ and he was most certainly correct.
The moment I laid eyes on Lily it was instant attraction and... love, love exploded in my chest like an IED going off. Alexa and I have both fallen deeply in love with Lily, and I can’t imagine our lives without her in it, our world would never be the same, I’m not ready to let her go she is our angel, our everything...
