Chapter 6
Chapter Six
Great food, great conversation, and a sexy guy hanging on her every word was the perfect recipe for an amazing first date. Myla didn’t want the night to end, and that was the truth.
She hadn’t been able to stop thinking about Alfie since they met the previous night. In fact, she was pretty sure she’d dreamed about him and woken up feeling needy in a way that had never happened to her before.
All day she’d thought about Alfie, loving the little texts he sent, and hating how slow the day was. Since she wasn’t working, she’d spent the day cleaning. And then she’d done something she hadn’t done in a while: shaved her legs.
Which Alice had definitely teased her about over text that day. It must be serious if you shaved! Make sure your bra and panties match.
What bra? She’d teased back.
Milo says ew. I say woohoo girl!
She’d worn a sweater dress that hugged her curves, and the dark green was her favorite color. Paired with a low heel that had a pretty bow at the back, she’d felt like a million bucks.
And considering how chilly it was, she was glad she was wearing a bra. She didn’t need her nips making an appearance during dinner. Even if she wasn’t wearing tights to combat the cold, at least her boobs would be warm.
Alfie picked her up promptly at six, wearing a quarter-zip and jeans, and she caught the hint of his cologne, which made the neediness she’d been feeling all day amplify.
He kissed her cheek in greeting and told her she was beautiful, then handed her a bag of kettle corn with a sticker that said it was from the safari park’s gift shop. “Oh, I love kettle corn! Thank you so much.”
“I can’t take credit for it entirely, a friend of mine’s wife overheard that you liked popcorn and sent it over for me to bring to you. I would have gotten you flowers.”
“You have really nice friends. And I do like flowers, but honestly, popcorn is perfect.”
She set it on the counter and grabbed her coat off the arm of the couch. He helped her put it on and then she took his offered arm. He escorted her out of the apartment and to his waiting SUV.
The ride to the Mexican restaurant was filled with chatter as they shared stories about their days.
While they ate platters of rice, beans, and the best tacos she’d ever had, they talked about their family.
His was all but gone now, his dad and grandpa lost to hunting accidents years earlier, and his mom passed away from illness. “So no siblings?” she asked.
“No, but I have friends that are close like siblings. Found family, I think, is what people call it.”
“It’s just me and Milo,” she said. “He and I used to really be mean to each other, but once we became adults we were like best friends. He and Alice have been together since high school, and she’s like a sister to me. I’m really lucky to have them, to have my parents too, in my life.”
“You definitely are.”
“What made you come to New Jersey?”
“There wasn’t anything holding me anywhere, and I knew Joss, who runs the safari tours, and he offered me a job and an apartment at the park complex.”
“That’s so cool. I would love to live above the movie theater. No commuting.”
He laughed and she loved the sound.
As the night wound down, she was fully charmed by him.
On the way to her apartment, she felt the air in the SUV change, like it was electrically charged.
Her whole body felt on fire, and she was so drawn to him that she was having a hard time thinking about anything but him.
The way he smelled, like home and safety and everything she’d ever wanted, the way he made her feel, like a storm could brew around them and she’d be safe no matter what came.
And mostly how freaking much she wanted him—wanted his hands on her, his lips on hers, his voice in her ear.
“Sweetheart?”
“Ah, what?” she asked, unclenching her hands and blinking a few times.
“We’re here.”
She blinked and looked out the windshield, seeing her apartment complex.
“Wow, I zoned out there for a bit. Sorry.”
The softest sound seemed to come from him, like a growl. But she wasn’t really sure she’d heard it, because then he cleared his throat and smiled at her. “I’d like to walk you to your apartment, if that’s okay.”
“Anything you do is okay,” she said, her voice coming out breathlessly as a strange wave of heat stretched out inside her, all her bits tingling and aching.
He tilted his head slightly, and in the darkness of the SUV she saw the parking lot lights catch his eyes and make them glow for a moment.
And then they were kissing.
Lips pressed together, tongues dancing. Warmth spreading.
The console was between them, the leather-covered plastic in the way of her crawling over to his seat and sitting on his lap for more.
He pulled from the drugging kiss and cupped her face. “You’re the most incredible woman I’ve ever met.”
“Walk me inside,” she whispered.
He nodded and turned off the SUV. He came around to her side as she opened the door and he helped her out, then held her hand as they walked down the sidewalk and through the courtyard to her first-floor apartment.
She unlocked the door and pushed it open.
Stepping inside, she turned to face him and saw him hesitate.
Sweet guy.
She grabbed the center of his sweater and tugged him forward, and his face split into an almost predatory smile. He shut the door and kissed her. When she went onto her toes, he lifted her into his arms and her heels fell off as she wrapped her legs around his waist.
Turning, he pressed her against the door and unbuttoned her coat, spreading the wool apart and sliding his hand to her waist, then cupping her bottom. He pulled her against his erection and she moaned into his mouth, grinding herself against him.
He chuckled and nipped her bottom lip, before deepening the kiss. He slid his hand to the hem of her dress and pulled it up to her hips. His fingers skimmed her bare thigh and he made that same soft growling sound.
She was so freaking glad she wasn’t wearing tights.
He left her mouth and kissed across her jaw to her neck, nipping a path down her throat as his fingers moved slowly along the back of her thigh until he met the satin of her panties.
She tilted her head to the side to give him better access to one of her favorite places to be kissed—not the favorite place, of course—as he slid his fingers inside her panties.
Her whole body lit up.
His fingertips grazed her heated folds and she was suddenly aware just how turned on she was. It was more than the general she hadn’t been touched by a guy in a long while; it was because she was drawn so deeply to him.
Just being around him turned her on.
When the hell had that ever happened before?
She tipped her head back against the door and gripped his shoulders as he slowly slid a finger inside her. Then two. He fingered her slowly, deliberately, as he sucked on her neck. Her toes curled and she tilted her hips to meet his fingers.
A third joined the fun, and she sucked in a sharp breath at the way he stretched her just right.
And then his thumb pressed to her clit for the briefest of moments and she bit her lip.
Pushing his fingers in deep, Alfie whispered against her throat, “You’re so wet, you’re like a dream come true.”
“It’s just for you,” she said, feeling wanton and tingly in all the best ways.
He slipped his fingers from her, but before she could let out a disappointed sound, he held her close and carried her to the couch, laying her down and shoving her dress farther up her hips. Then he pulled her panties off in one wild, quick pull.
He was between her thighs a moment later, his face buried in her pussy and his tongue doing amazing swirls around her clit.
His fingers returned and she arched up under him, her hands sliding into his hair and gripping the soft strands.
He drove her expertly to a climax that made her whole body sing.
As she was swimming through the pleasure that wove around her, she watched him sit back on his heels, his lips glossy with her pleasure, pull off his sweater, and undo his jeans.
He gripped his thick length and positioned it at her entrance, staring at her face and waiting until she reached for him.
He pushed inside her slowly and she tilted her hips to meet him. She grabbed the bottom of her dress and tugged it up her body, along with her bra, and he paused as he filled her fully, then bent and kissed her nipples.
The wait was blissful torture as he sucked on her nipples and stayed deep and unmoving inside her, but she loved it. She was sure she’d love anything he did to her.
He released her sensitive nipple from between his lips with a pop and then grinned at her. Curling over her, he slid his hands under her shoulders and kissed her, sweetly and deeply, and then he fucked her.
Moving hard and fast, he thrust and pulled out of her until every inch of her was singing in pleasure, his body hitting hers just right to careen her toward another great height of bliss.
She could only hold on, only love every minute of the way he moved her around effortlessly under him, until he found just the right spot to send her over the edge again.
He pounded into her and she gripped his strong shoulders, holding his gaze when he demanded she come for him again.
“Let me feel you, Myla. Mine. My Myla,” he chanted, his voice getting rougher and deeper as he seemed to be dancing on the edge of losing control.
She sank her nails into his back as she came hard, letting out a shout of pleasure and then whispering his name on a broken chant.
He followed, plowing into her a few more times and gritting his teeth.
He thrust one final time and her head kicked back, the pleasure spiraling inside her like ripples in a pond.
Kissing her lips, her cheeks, and her neck, he shuddered and pressed his face into the crux of her neck.
She wrapped her arms around him, feeling at once that things had moved far too fast and also just exactly right.
As they both came down from the heights and it was just the two of them, wrapped up together and still mostly clothed, she felt closer to him than she had any right to after only knowing him for twenty-four hours.
There wasn’t an ounce of regret in her, just certainty.
The romance movies she enjoyed had situations like this, where everything moved too fast but it all worked out anyway. Maybe this was what it was like when you finally were with the one person you were meant to find.
“I think you’re my soulmate, Alfie,” she said, kissing his jaw and hugging him.
He stiffened for a moment, inhaling sharply, then he lifted his head and gifted her with an amazing smile. “No thinking necessary, sweetheart. We’re definitely soulmates.”
