Chapter 7

I stood outside the door with the large bag of takeout food in my hand.

I couldn't believe I was doing this.

At the same time, the deep need to see her again pulled on me with an urgency I didn't understand. She didn't understand who I was. She didn't know that me showing up at the door with food for her was something that would send the entire Empire into a tizzy if word got out.

The Prince opened the door, a grin breaking out on his face as he saw me.

"You came yourself?" he asked. "I thought you would send someone."

I pushed past him, my eyes focusing on my little hoomon who stood behind him, peering around him.

Her eyes widened in recognition, her entire face brightening as she smiled at me, keeping her lips closed around her teeth.

She was wearing a small towel. I kept the frown off my face at the sight and instead set the food down on the counter next to her.

She turned, leading with her nose as she sniffed the air. The moment the bag was fully on the counter, she dug into it, pulling out containers.

"I came to see for myself," I replied.

My little hoomon made a delightful sound as she opened one of the containers.

She was so…cute.

I walked over and reached out to her, taking a strand of her headmane between my fingers. It was soft and silky, but also looked tangled. She turned her head to look up at me, a noodle dangling from her mouth.
