Chapter 2 #2
“I used to think it was only Key, but it’s you too. Y’all attract some of the craziest bitches.” Logic chuckled, passing the blunt back to me.
“Man, get out of here. I don’t know what the fuck that was ‘bout.”
My eyes roamed the park as I gazed at all of the people who were in attendance.
“I talked to bro earlier today and he said he wanted us to stop by his aunt’s house and have a talk with her. Apparently, she won’t accept his phone calls, and you know he’s pissed about the shit you told him the other day,” Logic informed me.
After my encounter with Lyric, I made sure to bring it to Nauri’s attention when he called me the next day.
A part of me wanted to pull up and cuss his money-hungry aunt out, but I didn’t want to run the risk of Lyric being put out.
The lady might have been a grimy ho, but she was the only family Lyric had for the time being.
“Oh, yeah. We can stop over there tomorrow. I was gonna head over there to take Lyric shopping anyway.”
The shit she told me has been keeping me up for the last few days. I hated that her and my bro were going through this situation. It was just another reminder of how shitty family could truly be.
“I’m down with it. I know how your ass gets so it’s probably best if I do all the talking.”
“Get the fuck out of here, LJ. The last time you had to talk to a girl’s parents, you told that girl’s momma she needed to put some Nair on her thick ass beard. Don’t try to act like I’m the only one who doesn’t hold their tongue.” I called his ass out.
“You might have a point. I already can’t stand her dumb ass, and this shit has pissed me off even more.
Nauri is giving that old hoe enough money to pay all of her bills, but she still has her hand out as if she isn’t getting enough.
Lyric is already going through enough, and that’s the only reason I’ve been holding my tongue about the situation. It’s fucked up.”
I nodded even though there was more I wanted to say. Trina was lucky Lyric wasn’t my sister because I probably would have had someone set her house on fire while I was locked up.
“Speak of the devil. There go her little ass. I talked to her earlier and she told me she wasn’t sure if her aunt would let her come,” Logic commented.
My head whipped in the direction he pointed in and landed on Lyric’s backside.
Anger surged through me when I saw the outfit she wore.
She was rocking a baby blue and pink crop top with matching pink shorts that were too short for my liking.
It was hot outside, but it wasn’t that damn hot.
I tried to keep my cool since Logic clowned me for the way I acted at Richie’s.
He had no idea she was the girl I dragged out of the store until afterward.
When he found out, the first thing he did was laugh and then tease me about the promise we made to Keynauri when we were kids.
Nauri made sure we all knew his little sister was off limits and nothing had changed.
I explained to Logic that I wasn’t interested in her, but his ass thought I was lying.
Lyric was too young for a nigga like me, and I wasn’t only referring to her physical age.
Mentally, she was immature and green to the world.
She had no idea how dangerous it was out here, but according to Keynauri, it was for her own protection.
I never agreed with his decision to shelter her, but I didn’t have any control over the way he chose to handle his sister.
“Logic! You said you were gonna call me later. I thought you were gonna come over since my parents are gone for the weekend. I wanted to show you a few things.” This chick from Jonah Hills flirted as she approached.
“Damn, are your parents some secret spies or some shit? Those mothafuckas ain’t ever at home.”
I chuckled at his dumb ass even though I wasn’t surprised by what came out of his mouth.
“Why don’t you come over and find out?” She winked, then walked off with her friends as they all giggled.
“Damn. Y’all got all the hoes chasin’ after you. I need to step my game up or something,” our homie Mason commented.
“Hell naw. Honestly, it gets old after a while. In my mind, if they are that thirsty, you ain’t the only nigga they’re chasing after.
I don’t like that shit at all,” I expressed.
When I was interested in a woman, I liked to be the one doing the pursuing.
There was no bigger turnoff than a woman throwing themselves at a man.
We continued to chop it up until Logic ran off to holler at one of his many bitches.
Folks thought I was weird for not running through multiple hoes at once, but I had no room in my life for drama.
I wasn’t about to get caught up in any bullshit or end up being set up by a bitter bitch.
I got my dick wet when I felt like it and kept it moving.
Since Logic had bounced, I got up and walked around for a while. I ran into a bunch of folks I knew from school and a few folks from my neighborhood. The city knew how to bring the people out, and it was cool to see so many people outside having a good time with no drama.
After two hours passed, I was ready to head home, but then I remembered something. My eyes scanned the park until they landed on a familiar person. I sauntered over in her direction, and she was so caught up in her conversation, she hadn’t noticed me until it was too late.
“What’s good, Lola B? Who’s your little friend?” I asked as I noticed the young nigga standing a little too close for my comfort. Lyric’s eyes widened in surprise as she took a step back to try and put some space between the two of them.
“Hey, East. I didn’t know you were here. Where’s Logic?” she asked as she looked over my shoulder.
“He’s around here somewhere. I think he went to check the bullets in his gun. You can never have too many, especially when you’re in a packed space like this one. Anything could happen, you know?”
The young man gulped, and I could smell the fear on him. She didn’t need to be talking to a weak nigga anyway.
“East, please,” Lyric pleaded, but I hadn’t even done anything.
“Aye, I need to holla at you about something,” I told her.
“Umm, I’ll see you at school, Lyric,” the young bull announced then hauled ass in the opposite direction.
“I swear I’m so tired of y’all. It was bad enough having one brother who was always in my business but adding you and Logic’s irritating asses is even worse. I’m seventeen now, and next year, I’ll be eighteen. I’m not a baby anymore.” Lyric huffed with her hands on her waist.
“I don’t give a fuck if you were twenty-eight.
If I see you talking to a lame ass nigga, I’ma say something.
I’m not here to talk about your dating life because that shit is a dead issue.
You’re too young and you’ve got enough shit on your plate.
A nigga can’t do shit for you besides feed you a bunch of bullshit.
“I want to know what’s going on at the house. How has your aunt been treating you? Were you able to get your clothes washed?” I gave Lyric some money the last time I saw her so she could wash her clothes.
