Chapter Three
I wake up sweating my ass off and pressed into a wall of rock hard muscle.
It takes a minute for the memories of last night to sink in. I’m in Jaycob’s twin size bed in the bunkhouse.
“Good morning. I was just about to wake you up. I have chores.” He swipes the hair off my face and I know I look like a goddamn raccoon.
Grumbling, I roll over to reach my dress on the floor. “Why do you look so good in the morning and I look like this?”
His deep laugh rumbles through his sleep hazed voice. “You're always beautiful, Reeces Pieces. Anyone who tells otherwise is an idiot.”
Sliding the dress over my head, I cringe at my choice for last night. Was I hoping to see Jaycob in this outfit? Yes. Did I think about getting to and from the bunkhouse in the Montana winter? No.
“Do you want to come do chores with me? I can drop you off at home to change.”
More time with Jaycob? Yes, please. “Absolutely!” I sit back on the bed to slip my cowboy boots back. “Oh, wait. Do you think Daddy is already gone?”
He looks at his phone. “Yeah, probably.”
“Probably? Or yes, Jaycob? This is a very important detail. You want Calvin Davies to see you bringing his baby girl home in a very short dress the next day looking like this?”
His eyes widen. “No. That would not be great.”
“Okay then, so maybe we do a little recon? And if he’s still home I’ll drop you off at the stables and then sneak home.”
He laughs at my plight. “I mean, it’s not that serious. You got drunk, and stayed over. No big deal.”
This time I laugh. Me getting drunk at the bunkhouse is always a big deal with Daddy. “If you think that, I’ll let you deal with him.”
I sit with my legs crossed at my ankles on his bed as he lumbers out from under the sheet.
My eyes are glued to the man’s ass… and his morning hard-on.
Damn that thing is impressive. As close as we are, I’ve never seen his cock.
Or any cock for that matter. But up close and personal in his boxer briefs makes me want to get a closer inspection.
“You can stop staring, Reeces Pieces.” He pulls his jeans over, covering up my piece of art.
“It just looks so… big.” He pauses mid-way pulling his shirt over his head.
“Reece. Have you never seen a cock before?” I shake my head. “Fuck, this would have been good information to have when we struck this deal.”
“Why? It doesn’t change anything. I’m going to have to see a dick at some point in my life. Might as well be one that looks like I might fall in love with it.”
His throat bobs at the last part of my sentence and he holds my stare. “Tonight. We’re going to… I don’t know what we’re going to do. But I can’t take this anymore so something has to give.”
I squeeze my thighs together at the thought. Is Jaycob Adler going to finally let me touch him? “Tonight sounds great.” Shit, that came out so much higher pitched than I wanted it to.
“Let’s go, Reeces Pieces.” He reaches out to pull me up off the bed. “What the hell did I get myself into?” He mumbles into my neck when he pulls me flush against his body.
“Told you that you missed me.” I smirk.
Rolling his eyes, he leads us out of the bunkhouse and into his truck.
Pulling up in front of my house I am thankful that Daddy‘s truck is gone. “I will be so quick.”
“If you think your mama is gonna let me stay out in this truck, you are dead wrong.”
Before we can even open the doors, Mom stands in the doorway waving.
“Mornin’, Mom,” I greet her as I walk up the front porch.
“Where are you two coming from?” she asks.
“She crashed at my place last night after—”
“I went to the bunk houses with Katie, she couldn’t drive home after so I crashed with Jaycob, but we gotta go. He has chores to do and I’m helping.” I rush past Mom and grab Jaycob’s hand to pull him up to my room.
“Now just you hold on a minute. Jaycob, have a seat. I still have some breakfast leftover. You can join me while she changes and get fueled up for the day. I know you’re not getting anything but sugar and booze in that bunkhouse.”
“Yes, ma’am.” He gives me a weak smile and then joins Mom at the table.
Ugh. I run as fast as I can through getting ready and tear back down the stairs.
“Okay let’s go!” I slide to a stop behind Jaycob who is mid-bite.
“What is going on with you this morning?” Mom stares at me, scrutinizing every speck of my appearance to see if she can figure it out.
“Nothing. But Jaycob has chores. I don’t want him getting in trouble with Daddy.”
“And there’s a new horse we just got at auction. She’s itching to meet him,” he adds.
“Well, you two take breakfast to go. And bring one to your Dad, Jaycob.” Mom hurries to pack up three to-go boxes.
“Thanks, Mom.” I kiss her on the cheek and slip my boots back on as Jaycob follows me out.
“Is there really a new horse?” I ask him on the way back to his truck.
“Sure is. Black one. Looks just like Smokey did.” Smokey was Mr. Sanders’ horse but I loved him growing up.
“You could have led with that! Now I’m way more excited to help you with chores.”
Jaycob doesn’t take too long at work. With me helping him we’re done in half the time. And I get to spend more time with the new no-name horse.
“Wanna go riding tonight?” He stands behind me while I scratch the horse’s neck.
“To the cabin?” I turn to face him, hope written across my face.
Our cabin isn’t really a cabin. It’s more of a shed that we commandeered as kids and decorated. Daddy added a wood stove because we’d spend all day out there playing with the other ranch kids.
“Of course. Is there anywhere else?” He chuckles.
“I’ll grab the hot dogs.”
Roasting hot dogs and marshmallows is the only dinner allowed at the cabin. I’m sure at some point we could have gotten fancier. But it’s the nostalgia.
After Jaycob dropped me off I texted Katie who informed me this is an actual date and now I’m nervous for the night with Jaycob.
Is this a date? We've done this a hundred times. But never with promises to end up naked. I’m not seeing anyone else. But is he? It’s not like we discussed any of this, maybe we need ground rules.
Me: I think we need ground rules.
Jay ??: For?
Me: Getting naked obviously.
Jay ??: Jesus, Reece. I’m in a meeting with Cal.
Me: So? We need rules.
Jay ??: Meet me at the stables in ten. We can discuss your rules over dinner. There will be no getting naked.
Me: You promised! >
Jay ??: No. You assumed. Dinner and rules. Then we’ll talk.
Me: You’re a buzzkill you know that?
Jay ??: See you in ten, Reeces Pieces.
I already have some rules written down. I just need him to agree.
Rules:
This is exclusive. No getting naked with anyone else.
This is a safe space. No judgement allowed.
Refer back to rule number 1.
No girlfriends during our adventure.
No feelings involved.
Number five honestly is just to protect myself. If I can keep telling myself that this is a no feelings involved transaction… I can’t get hurt at the end. Right?
