Chapter 10 #3

My face flooded with color over being interrupted during such a private moment. Although, after glancing at Ace, I noted he did not share my embarrassment. It was quite the opposite actually. The enormous biker looked rather pleased with himself at the moment.

Anna had a bag slung over her shoulder, which must have contained her overnight supplies. Taking it off her shoulder, I said, “Why don’t you go into the living room and pick a movie. I’ve got to talk to Ace before he leaves.”

Grinning from ear to ear, Anna said, “Sure thing. Just don’t take too long or I’m starting the movie without you.”

When Anna was out of earshot, I looked back at Ace and shivered. His gaze was still smoldering, and I could smell a combination of what we’d just done, and his own personal scent, lingering on my skin.

Not sure how to approach this touchy subject, I kind of danced around the obvious by saying, “I’m sorry we have to end this night so early. Thank you for everything you did for me tonight.”

I wasn’t just talking about the number of times he’d made me come, either.

I was referencing the insanity of Kane and saving me from a dangerous fall.

I still couldn’t believe that had happened.

It felt straight out of a Lifetime movie, with the president of Los Lobos playing the part of the villain.

“Babe,” Ace began, that hard tone back in his voice, like when he’d spanked me in the bedroom, “I’m not leaving you here alone. Not with Kane still running around obsessed with you.”

I didn’t know what to say. It wasn’t like the man could protect me twenty-four-seven.

He, presumably, had a job and a life to get back to.

The last thing I wanted to be was the girl who was always in crisis.

The one that took time and attention away from everyone else and placed it squarely on herself.

“I’ll keep my eyes open for anything concerning and call the cops if I see anything worth reporting,” I explained, thinking that would assuage his fears enough to leave.

I was wrong. Gripping my shoulders, Ace’s expression grew tight. “No cops, Cat. Do you hear me? Those bastards only complicate things.”

Man, Ace really didn’t like the cops. Every time I mentioned them, he became angry and demanded I leave them out of the situation altogether.

Getting closer to my face, he pressed, “I need you to promise me you won’t involve the cops, Cat. It’s really important to me that you agree to this. I’m going to take care of this for you. You have my word on it.”

It was a sweet gesture, but also kind of possessive for someone I just met. A potential red flag to keep an eye out for in the future, when I wasn’t so sated and pleased from the use of his talented tongue.

Deciding to turn the question around on him, I asked, “If I don’t call the cops, what can I do to stay safe? You can’t always be around to protect me, Ace. I don’t want this situation with Kane to get even more dangerous than it already is. I want to feel safe in my own home.”

“I can’t always be outside your apartment,” Ace agreed, “but one of my Club members can. If Kane shows up, he’ll have to deal with the wrath of my whole MC, and he’s too much of a coward for that.”

It seemed a bit extreme, but maybe it was my best option. At least for now. It’s not like the cops would send a patrol car to sit outside my house. They didn’t have those kinds of resources.

“Ok, I won’t call the cops,” I finally relented, and he placed a hot kiss on my lips.

With some voodoo that I couldn’t understand or explain, I was immediately back under his spell. It was that fast, and apparently, I was that easy.

“Give me your phone,” he ordered. I scrambled for it and handed it over without question. He tapped at it a few times and handed it back to me. “I’m going to be right outside. If you need anything, call me,” Ace reiterated, his intense grey eyes searching mine.

Nodding sluggishly, I squeezed my thighs together to squelch the need building there. How could I still be turned on after coming twice? The biker was a sex god. I couldn’t deny it. I felt completely and utterly dickmatized whenever he was near.

Ace sighed. “Tomorrow night, you’re coming to the Club. We’re having a party, and I want to introduce you to some people.”

That was nice. He wanted me to meet his Club. Maybe I wasn’t just a one-night stand to him after all. My chest warmed at the thought, realizing how badly I wanted that.

“I work the afternoon shift tomorrow, but I’m not sure if they’ll need me for the evening one yet,” I said, placing my hand on his chest and running my fingers down the hard plains of his chest.

Gathering my hand, Ace gave my fingers a lingering kiss. “Call me when you’re done with work. I’ll pick you up.”

“Okay,” I obediently agreed, as he leaned in to give me yet another hot, lust-soaked kiss on my swollen lips.

From the other room, I heard Anna call out, “One more minute and then I’m starting the movie without you. The countdown clock has officially begun.”

Ace stepped away and reached for the door. “Call or text if you need anything,” he repeated, before closing it behind him.
