Chapter 24
“Why did it have to be you?” My husky words hung between us, the reasons for our hesitation a distant memory, as if they didn’t exist. I loved and hated this torment all at once. I hated what it would cost me, but to feel this insanity, it was like a dream.
My entire body wanted this, wanted him. His lips were so close, I could taste them.
His hand shook, and those thick, strong fingers glided down my neck, holding me captive.
He could choke me, and I still wouldn’t have run away.
I forgot how to breathe, how to think, how to move. There was only Adam.
