63. Epilogue
Chapter 63
Epilogue
Liam
S even Months Later
“I’ve got this inkling that Selene might be pregnant,” I confess to Emmett as we sit together in our living room. “But I’m waiting for her to tell me herself.”
Emmett raises an eyebrow. “You think so?”
“Yeah,” I reply, nodding. “She’s been a bit skeptical, especially since the magic didn’t take the first time around. But I can smell the difference in her hormones.”
Emmett lets out a low whistle. “Well, that would be something, wouldn’t it?”
I chuckle softly. “Yeah, it definitely would.”
“Do you know… I mean, will she be having a wolf or a vampire?”
“Well, we were able to do some research. Unlike Mom, who was able to give birth to witches and wolves, it is a little different for vampires.”
He sits up. “How so?”
“There have been legends that in case of the mating between a wolf and a vampire, then the baby could be a hybrid. But that is just a legend that no one can confirm for sure.”
“So now you just have to wait and see…”
I nod. “Yep! I just want a healthy baby that is half of me and half of her. I don’t care if they are a wolf or a vampire, or both.”
Just then, Selene enters the room, her presence lighting it up like always. She gives us a smile before settling down next to me on the couch.
“Hey, Liam,” she says, leaning in to give me a quick kiss.
“Hey, gorgeous,” I reply, returning the kiss with a grin.
Emmett shoots us a knowing look before standing up. “Well, I’ll leave you two lovebirds to it. I’ve got some things to take care of.”
As Emmett heads out of the room, Selene snuggles closer to me, resting her head on my shoulder. “What were you two talking about?”
I wrap an arm around her, pulling her close. “Just thinking about the future,” I say, my voice soft. “And how lucky I am to have you.”
Selene smiles up at me, her eyes shining with warmth and affection. “I feel the same way.”
We sit in comfortable silence for a moment, enjoying each other’s company. Then, Selene sighs softly, breaking the quiet.
“I’m feeling a bit hungry,” she admits, her stomach rumbling faintly.
I chuckle. “Well, you know what to do then.”
Selene grins mischievously before leaning in to kiss my neck. “I do indeed,” she murmurs before sinking her fangs into my skin.
As she feeds, I can’t help but marvel at the bond we share, and the love that flows between us.
Making sure she is happy and well-fed has become a top priority for me.
With the changes in her body and the potential pregnancy, it’s crucial that she gets the nourishment she needs. She does not feed on anyone but me.
And I know it hasn’t been easy for her, especially with the added responsibility of looking after the three new boys I brought home.
After I resumed my role as protector, Emmett and I traveled back to his hometown. That’s where we found Matt, Hunter, and Simon, three young wolves who were living in a trailer park with no parents in sight. Matt is only three, Hunter is four, and Simon is five. It broke my heart to see them alone like that, so I brought them back with us, and now they’re part of our pack.
Colt has taken a shine to them, always playing and roughhousing with the boys. It warms my heart to see him bond with them, but he never talks about Willow.
I hope one day he’ll open up about his feelings, but for now, I’m just glad to see him smiling again.
Alyssa is slowly but surely starting to heal from the loss of her wife, though the journey is a painful one that will take time.
As for me, I was crowned alpha at Selene’s second council meeting. It’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly. I’m determined to lead my pack into a brighter future. My mother held a two-day feast just to celebrate.
Despite the recent chaos and upheaval, it feels like we’re finally starting to pick up the pieces and move forward.
Some of the prisoners held captive have served their time and have been released, reintegrating back into society. It’s a small victory, but it’s progress nonetheless.
Selene has distanced herself from the other vampires, but she seems content with her decision.
She is focusing on her new role on the council and as a luna and a Night. According to her, that’s all that matters.
I don’t disagree.
We’re all still rebuilding, restructuring, healing.
After all the pain and loss, we are all trying to find a place in the community and to find pockets of peace with each other.
Together, we’ll get through it.
All of us.
THE END.
