Chapter 37

Chapter Thirty-Seven

~Rhen~

My cock throbs painfully in my pants as I stare at the door to the basement. Chewing my fingernails, I begin to pace. Thane has been trying to mind-link us, and Raidon and I have been ignoring him.

He will be furious when he returns home, and I dread the punishment we will receive. The basement door creaks open loudly and my eyes go to it. Her scent perfuming the room becomes more robust and almost impossible to resist.

Raidon emerges, closing the door behind him, looking every bit as frazzled as I feel. His clothes are torn to shreds. He is sweating profusely, fighting his urges to mark and mate her. We sent Tania to get suppressants.

Not even Tania could handle her sweet scent.

Tania had dropped them off before all but running from the place.

But now we have to figure out a way to give them to her without her mauling us, or us mauling her.

Zara's scent permeates the air even with the door closed.

Sickly sweet and so addictive. I force myself to focus as I rush to the kitchen.

I rip open the cupboards beneath the kitchen sink, searching each one.

Finding what I’m looking for, I grab a can of de-scenter and clench it tight as I hold my finger down on the trigger, spraying the entire ground floor, trying to get rid of the scent that assaults my nose and to awaken my senses.

It only mutes her scent, but it's better than the full force and toxicity that comes with it.

"Fuck! I can't take this! She can't stay here. My dick feels like it’s going to burst," Raidon says, adjusting his pants while he grips the kitchen counter. He lets out a lewd groan and I glance at him to find him squeezing his cock through his slacks.

I press my lips in a line, knowing the agony he’s in.

I nod, feeling the same way, yet something is off with Zara's scent.

Something is gnawing at my insides and tickling my mind as I try to place whatever it is my instincts are telling me.

Omegas usually smell sickly sweet, but we never struggled like this the few times we came across an Omega in heat.

"Her scent, do you—" I don't finish what I’m going to say, not knowing what the heck I’m asking him.

"She smells familiar," Raidon offers, and my eyes dart to him because I thought exactly the same thing. It’s like Déjà vu had washed over me the moment I got a whiff of her.

I just have no idea why I feel that way, and I can tell through the bond that Raidon can't explain his odd feeling either. Her scent, for some reason, feels familiar, which should be impossible.

"Thane is going to kill us," Raidon groans when we hear things breaking in the basement. We both glance at the basement door before I reach over and grab the bag Tania dropped off. I rummage through the paper bag and slide the suppressants to Raidon across the counter.

"Nope, now way. I can't go back down there. It was hard enough forcing myself to leave her once," Raidon tells me. I growl, knowing I will have to. I’m not sure I’m strong enough to handle it either, but we need to before Thane gets home. He’s going to kill us.

No, he’s going to skin me alive, boil my damn organs, and feed them to Raidon for our stupidity.

The possibilities are terrifying. I don't have time to ponder, however, because I hear the garage door: Thane’s home.

Raidon looks at me in panic. I swallow nervously, and my heart thumps erratically in my chest so hard it feels like it is creeping up my throat. Her scent has muted a little, yet it is still potent, and there is no way he will miss it.

The sound of the door smashing against the wall makes me jump.

Leon growls, rushing through the place and bolting straight toward Raidon, who moves to grab him but misses.

I tackle Leon, pressing him against the wall before he can grab the door handle, only to stiffen when Thane's command rolls over me.

His aura makes my back straighten. Raidon whimpers while Leon fights and pushes against me to get free.

"Let him go," Thane snarls, tossing his keys on the counter.

"Thane!" I panic, knowing Leon would feed on her.

"He’s a glutton. He will be passed out and blood drunk long before he kills her," Thane snarls. I let him go when I can no longer fight against his command. Leon disappears, and Raidon whimpers as he busts through the basement door before Thane glares at him.

Raidon, the behemoth, buckles under the pressure of his aura first, dropping to his knees. My knees bite painfully into the tile floor when he turns his anger on me seconds later.

"Who thought it was a good idea to bring her here?" Thane asks, his voice deadly calm and ice cold.

"Mine," I grit out through clenched teeth. The noise that leaves him is a roar as his aura forces me completely onto my hands and knees before him, when Raidon speaks.

"Her apartment isn't secure. We couldn't have taken her there, even if we tried," Raidon growls, and I turn my head. The effort to do so is painful as I look at him.

"So, you thought bringing her here and putting her in our Den was the better option?

" Thane bellows, when suddenly, Zara whimpers.

Thane's aura falters, and we all stare at the basement door, knowing Leon got his fangs in her.

Yet her whimper turns to a moan from the endorphins of his bite and her heat.

I sigh.
