Chapter 27
RUNO
A Month Later – New Beginnings
Bent over Samael’s desk in our new basement, my fingers gripped the rough wood of Samael’s desk as he fucked me hard, each thrust a jolt that set a fresh wound on my shoulder ablaze.
The air was thick with the metallic tang of blood and the musty scent of concrete, the dim light in this basement casting shadows across Slash’s form as he fileted our newest victim on a tarp across the room.
My body burned, mixing with the pleasure of Samael’s roughness and Slash’s growing need for the blade.
He had been getting meaner with it, Samael and Aeron having to step in several times to keep me from obtaining a wound they couldn’t easily stitch.
But hell, death by lover’s blade would be one hell of a way to go.
We’d laid low for weeks after leaving Primrose, scattering Tyrone and Alex’s bodies across the city to throw off the investigation, but our demons had grown too loud, clawing at us until we needed this—a kill to curb the darkness.
Even with new jobs in public, Samael staying hidden because he was still technically dead, we needed something more.
Which was this. Me mouthing off until Samael fucked me while we watched Slash enjoy himself. Aeron was just off to the side, his thick cock in his hand as he pumped himself in time with Slash’s blade slicing through flesh.
The victim’s screams echoed down here before he went limp, his silence a trigger that sent me over the edge.
I came hard, my entire body shuddering, and Samael followed, his release a hot burst inside me as his teeth sunk into my shoulder, drawing a fresh sting of blood.
Aeron grinned from his perch as he stroked his cock a few more times and then coated his hand and stomach.
“Save the lungs for me,” he purred, his voice a little huskier than usual.
I sighed and collapsed onto the desk, my body a mess of bites and cuts. I was a canvas of their chaos, constantly being cleaned up—once, I’d even passed out, my body unable to take the intensity. But it kept me whole, kept the alters from taking over and from any other voices taking hold of me.
They were all faint now, barely in my head. Killian popped in every now and then but the general hum of chatter was way worse.
“Who the fuck did we just kill?” I pushed out.
Slash wiped his knife on his thigh before sheathing it back into its sleeve. “Oh, there was a cute little librarian across from the clinic. I didn’t kill her. I killed the guy bothering her. He goes there every night and pesters her. He was pissing me off.”
I frowned, the desk cool against my skin. “Seriously?”
“Hey, we all agreed no innocent people. He wasn’t innocent.”
Aeron nodded, his cock still thick between his thighs. He looked like he could already go another round. “Yeah, he was a creep. Deserved it.”
Samael slowly pulled out of me as I straightened up, my body screaming as I shifted, every muscle aching from Samael’s roughness. I fell back into Samael’s lap as he sank into his chair, his massive frame warm against my back.
Aeron’s voice broke the silence, teasing my inability to ever sit still.
“I’d ask Runo to help make dinner, but you need rest. Have you put any thought into what you want to do?
” I opened my mouth to answer before Aeron shook his head.
We had had this conversation a billion times too.
I couldn’t work in the journalism business anymore, not without people wanting to dissect my life but I hadn’t actually figured out anything.
“Yes, I know you have your father’s trust money, but that won’t last forever. ”
I sighed, leaning into Samael’s chest, his heartbeat steady against my back. “I always did like cooking and it’s fun with you. You said you might open another truck or something so maybe I could help until I figure out what I want? Sitting around here is making me antsy.”
Aeron laughed. “We all know you’re using sex as a distraction.”
I shrugged. “It works, but yeah, I need to do something before I go stir crazy.”
A loud thud snapped us out of the conversation, the victim’s body splattering on the floor from where it had been hanging, blood and guts spraying across the tarp.
Slash froze, his finger swiping through the blood splattered across his face, a piece of guts clinging to his skin.
He stared at it for several seconds, all of us waiting to see what he’d do.
Slash then shook his head and flicked it off, the guts landing somewhere in the room. “Absolutely not. Nope, that’s still Aeron and Runo’s thing. Fuck that. Let’s order some Thai.”
A cackle tore from my throat as Aeron stood and stuffed himself back into his pants, the man jutting out his bottom lip in an adorable pout. “I can prepare something really nice.”
Samael’s hands tightened on my hips. “We’re not debating your cooking skills, but that’s just not our thing.”
Aeron’s pout deepened. “You liked it once.”
Samael grinned as he dipped his lips to the bite on my shoulder, his breath warm against my skin. “Maybe I’ll taste it again one day. Right now, Slash, go wash up. Aeron, order from that little Thai place, would you? I’m going to clean Runo up.”
I opened my mouth to argue, but Slash cut me off. “Hey, kitten? You’ve already pulled your last set of stitches because you won’t sit still. Unless you’re trying to kill yourself, maybe take it easy.”
I sighed, leaning back into Samael. “Fine. Since you asked so nicely. I’ll think about it.”
