17. Shane #4
“Hey, that reminds me. Are you free this weekend to help me pack up my things in the condo? Shane doesn’t want me overworking myself. He’s having movers come in to do the heavy lifting, but I still need to get everything into boxes.”
“Of course, I’ll help!” she answers without hesitation. “So, what’s going to happen to the condo?”
“I texted Greyson saying it would be free after the weekend and that he could sell it.” I shrug.
“Wow, and what did he say?”
This time, I’m the one chewing my lip. “He never responded.” Just like I had predicted he would. Or wouldn’t.
She nudges my shoulder with hers. “Like I said, idiot.” We smile at each other before refocusing on the guys for the ten minutes left on the clock.
By the end of the game, I’m still uncertain of what Shane said to Greyson, but whatever it was, it worked.
He played the last twenty minutes like the Greyson Ford I know and cheered for my entire life.
The chemistry between the players was restored and they managed to score four goals, winning them the game with a four-to-three lead.
It’s nearly midnight when Shane finally gets home and crawls into bed. He lies on his back as he reaches for me, pulling me against his side as I rest my head on his chest. This is how we fall asleep every night and I love it.
He kisses the top of my head and inhales me with a satisfied hum. “Did you have a good time at the game?” he asks quietly, his fingers stroking up and down my arm.
“I did, it was nice to spend some alone time with Ronnie. She also agreed to help me with the packing,” I tell him with a nod.
“That’s good.”
After a moment of silence, I decide to speak up, no longer able to contain the question running through my mind. “What did you say to Greyson?” When he doesn’t reply right away, I clarify my question. “At the beginning of third, you said something to him.”
He sighs as if he wishes I hadn’t asked but answers my question anyway. “I told him to picture my face on every opponent and pretend you were the puck. That he had to get you away from me and send you home.”
I gasp loudly and push away from his chest, needing to see his face. It’s pretty dark in our room, so I reach over and switch the bedside lamp on. There’s a smirk on his lips that he’s trying to hide but failing miserably.
Oh God, he’s serious!
“Shane! You did not really say that to him!”
“He needed some motivation, and I gave it to him.” He lifts a shoulder. “Besides, it worked, didn’t it?” He grabs my waist as he smiles and makes me straddle his thigh.
I huff out. “I suppose.”
I place my hands on his bare chest, gliding my fingers over where there would normally be a little patch of hair. But I see him shave there every morning, as well as his face, so it’s always smooth.
“I just don’t think we should be fueling his hate for you.”
“I know. You’re right, it probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do, but I had to do something. I’m not sure if it’s because of the condo text, or if it was seeing you at the arena, but he was just making rookie mistake after rookie mistake tonight. I couldn’t let him continue that way.”
He reaches up to my hair tie, undoing my messy bun and letting my strands fall loosely around my shoulders. Shane loves my hair and any chance he gets, his fingers are in it.
“He was bringing down the whole team, Angel. It was getting so bad that no one wanted to pass to him anymore. It’s not just him that’s affected by a bad play, but the team too, and it certainly reflects poorly on me.”
“I know, I’m not angry with you or disappointed. I’m just surprised.” I give him a smile, reassuring him. “I wouldn’t have expected you to say something like that, that’s all.”
“So, we’re okay?” he asks with a hint of nervousness.
I bring my hands up to his cheeks, leaning in to kiss his lips that work wonders on my body. When I pull back, a grin stretches across his face and his dimples pop out. I place my index fingers in each and instinctively blush.
I don’t know what it is about his dimples, but they drive me crazy, and I find myself fantasizing about having his face between my legs as he smiles. I swear, this man is turning me into a sex-crave, just like my friends.
“Of course, we’re okay, Shane. Why wouldn’t we be?” I answer his question as my hips start to rock against him.
“I don’t know, I was just afraid you might not be happy with… What are you doing?” He chuckles when my movements register and he begins to swell beneath me.
“God, I don’t know if it’s the hormones or what, but I’ve been wanting you all day,” I murmur, coming in to kiss his neck.
“Oh, yeah?”
“Mhmm, I almost told you to take me in my office today. You were so sexy with the flowers and food and snacks. I was losing my mind,” I admit, feeling my blush spread even more as I grow slick between my legs.
“Well, then. We should rectify this hunger, shouldn’t we?” He chuckles again.
“Please,” I moan.
The next thing I know, I’m being lifted off him and placed onto my back as he leaves a trail of wet kisses down my naked body. Then he settles himself between my spread legs, looks up… and smiles. Turning my fantasy into a reality and sending me straight to paradise for the next hour.
