Shane #3
“That still doesn’t sit right by me.” Greyson keeps his frown in place as Emma sighs.
“Wolf, it’s not a big deal. It’s the same thing as you and Cecilia.” She places her hand on top of her husband’s to settle his temper. I can feel Hailey growing uncomfortable at my side as she watches this unfold.
“That’s not the same. We only slept together. They were married,” he tries to prove his point.
“Actually, yeah, it is,” Em states. “It’s as if Cecilia wasn’t allowed to be your friend simply because you’re with me now.
Or like Ronnie wouldn’t want me around because I’ve slept with both her men.
It comes down to the same shit, we hooked up, you two hooked up, they hooked up.
Yet we’re all here, and we’re all still friends. ”
“She has a point, Ford. If they’re friends and Brey’s fine with it, then I don’t see what the problem is,” Silas says as everyone nods in agreement.
“Okay! Now that all of that is out of the way,” Eden cuts in, trying to defuse the situation. “Let’s talk shopping! My ladies, who’s in? We could make a day of it. Rent a big limo, go out for lunch, maybe some mani-pedis, and of course, spend some of our beloved husbands’ money.”
“Eden, you have your own money,” Leah points out.
“I know, but it’s so much more fun spending his.” Eden smiles widely and flutters her lashes. Leah rolls her eyes while Phoebe shakes her head and Hailey giggles. “So? Who’s coming?”
“I’m in!” Ronnie speaks up first. “I have to buy some sexy outfits for our trip to Greece tomorrow.”
“I’m definitely in. Mama’s in need of some girl time,” Em says next, earning her a frown from her husband. “Don’t worry, I’ll check in with my dad and see if he’s fine to keep the boys for the day.” She pulls out her phone and begins to tap away at it.
“I guess I could come, too,” Cecilia says, shrugging before turning to her husband. “If that’s okay? I know your parents are supposed to keep Dante all day.”
Silas holds the back of her head and kisses her forehead.
“Sure, Minnie. You deserve a girls’ day too.
While you’re at it, buy yourself one of those sexy outfits too and I’ll take you to dinner tonight.
Dante can stay with his grandparents for an extra night,” he finishes with a wink as she blushes.
“Okay. Morg, you in?” Cecilia turns to the end of the table where Morgan seems unsure.
“I don’t know. The twins have already been alone for the whole night. Plus, it was Natalia’s day off, I feel bad making her work extra when she’s already worked the whole week…”
“It’s okay, baby. You go enjoy your day, I’ll go home and take care of the kids.” Clay kisses the side of her head.
“Are you sure? I don’t have to, it’s okay,” Morgan asks, still uncertain of what to do.
“Yes, I’m sure. Maybe get one of those outfits they keep talking about. You’ll try it on while the kids are in bed tonight,” he whispers into her ear, but we can all hear with how silent it is as we wait for her answer.
“Okay, then count me in.” She smiles, blushing a bit at her husband’s comment.
Aubrey comes over to me, wrapping her arm around my waist as she nestles into my side. “Should I get an outfit too?” she whispers jokingly.
“No need, I prefer you in nothing at all.” She turns bright red as I murmur back into her hair.
“Please, no. Stop talking. I’ve heard enough already in one day,” Grey grumbles in front of us from his seat.
I laugh against Aubrey’s hair as Eden takes the floor once more.
“Okay! Now that everyone is on board, I’ll get the limo here and we can start our day of fun and drinking!
Well, except for you, sis. Sorry.” She smiles sympathetically at Aubrey.
I swear, my sister does not act her age.
Seeing her, you’d think she’s in her early twenties, not forty on the dot.
“No.” I stop her with the point of my finger. “First, we will all sit down and have breakfast. Only once Aubrey has eaten will you be free to go.”
“I love how he only cares that she eats but not us.” Cecilia sighs with a smile, like making sure my girl eats is out of the ordinary.
We all sit down as the chatter picks up while the food gets passed around to everyone.
Hailey sits down beside Aubrey as they talk about her upcoming wedding and how much Aubrey’s belly has grown since they last saw each other.
Phoebe asks Morgan about the twins, Leah chitchats with Cecilia, and Eden talks crazy with Emma and Veronica, while the boys all talk together about summer plans.
It’s nice to see my family and Aubrey’s getting along.
I didn’t expect them to fit in so well together, but they have.
Ever since Aubrey walked into my life, it’s only changed for the greater, and it keeps getting better with every day that passes.
I love our little family, but I also love the family we’ve created by bringing our worlds together.
I lean in toward Aubrey and kiss her on the cheek when she’s not expecting it. “I love you, Angel.”
She gasps softly, then smiles and presses her lips to mine. “I love you too, Shane.”
