Chapter 7

Kartik

I reach Aarush’s apartment, instead of ringing the bell I open the door with my spare key to his house, because if I am right that idiot is probably deep in sleep after sending me that text.

If he could sleep all day he would. But soon I am proven wrong as I enter the apartment and see that moron sprawled on the couch stuffing his face with snacks. Geez.

“Oh good finally you’re here, you have no idea how hungry I was!” He says it with such relief.

It’s only a wonder how he stays fit because all I know is that he works out. But exactly what is his definition of working out, I’ll never know, nor do I want to.

I shake my head and move towards the kitchen to empty the containers and finally eat when Aarush comes from behind and growls for some reason.

I sigh, I got something wrong or something is missing, “What now?” I ask

He looks at me like I betrayed him, “This isn’t our order”

I look at the bag and indeed this isn't our order, and now I am confused before I realize where our original order actually is….ah shit! I don’t even know where she lives.

Aarush looks pissed, hell even I would be if he got my order wrong.

“You see the thing is,…”

I tell him what all happened and also accidentally reveal to him what all me and Samaira said in the argument, should have just told him we bickered and there’s that.

He gets a confused look on his face before it brightens up, making me confused now.

“Wait this Samaira, is she short, brunette, brown eyes, very pretty” he asks

Still confused, nod my head in a yes, before he starts laughing.

“What? Why are you laughing and how do you know her?” I ask frustrated

“She lives in my building, on the floor above mine, we flirted a bit, she’s cool.” He says casually, shrugging his shoulders .

The ‘we flirted a bit’ somehow doesn’t bode well with me. She shouldn’t be flirting with my best friend. I don’t think she knew he was my best friend otherwise she would have killed him on the spot. I chuckle, somehow that does help me calm down.

“Since you took the wrong bag, you need to go and change it,” he says with an impassive look on his face. I groan knowing I would have said the same to him. I take the bag and start following him towards her apartment.

Aarush rings the doorbell. I hear footsteps coming towards me and it’s the other girl with Samaira that opens the door.

As soon as she realizes it’s me her face transforms into some sort of devilish smile, “If I didn’t know any better I would say you are following me,” she says in a flirty tone.

I give out a hesitant smile and, “The thing is our takeouts got exchanged, mind exchanging back, I have a really hungry friend to feed” I joke.

“Well come on in and take your food, even I have a hungry friend to feed” she jokes back.

Oh, so they are friends, well at least one is better than the other, whereas the princess is evil incarnate, pretty, but still.

I enter the house before the friend’s eyes narrow and she speaks, “But hold up, how do you know my friend lives?”

I open my mouth to answer but before I can do that she starts to ramble, “I was just joking about the stalking but are you actually stalking my friend, because I swear to God, I’ll have to kill you.

But you don’t like a stalker, you look pretty decent” she says as she looks at me up and down as if sizing me to see if she can take on me.

I clear my throat, “I am Kartik Kapadia by the way”

She looks at me for a good two seconds before her eyes widen, “Hold up, your mother is Adhira Kapadia and your dad is one of the best architects in India, right?!”, she gasps as her mouth forms into a devilish smile again.

“Interesting”, she mutters. Huh so this girl isn’t as clueless as her Samaira.

“I am Aria, Samaira’s best friend,” she says as she extends her hand to shake, I return the gesture giving her a small smile.

I look over at Aarush who has been awfully quiet this whole time and find him in awe looking at Aria. In my entire life, I’ve never seen this man at a loss of words, it is so surprising to witness it. It should be noted down in history.

Just then Samaira enters the living room where we are standing her face morphs into anger in a quick second before she shouts, “GET OUT”

I open my mouth to speak but this time it’s Samaira who cuts me off by quite literally pushing me towards the door. Once I am standing outside she shuts the door in my face! Good lord give me the patience and strength to deal with this girl!

Although she did look extremely hot while she was angry…no why do I get distracted again and again by her!

I bang on the front door, and Aria reluctantly opens the door. Behind her, Samaira wore a fierce scowl, clearly in no mood for visitors.

Before I could utter a word, Samaira jumped in, once again monopolizing the conversation. It seemed like these girls had a habit of not letting anyone else get a word in.

"Didn't I already kick you out?" Samaira demanded.

I hesitated for a moment but then began, "Yes, but..."

Samaira cut me off abruptly, her patience worn thin. "No. Out!" She moved to shut the door in my face, but I acted swiftly, placing my hand on the door and pushing back against her force. She scowled in frustration.

Samaira

“I think you need your food before you kick me out!” He says smirking, that arrogant jerk!

Ugh, that’s when I realize he is telling the truth because that certainly looks like 3 containers and 3 boxes of food whereas the takeout I got home has just 3 containers, huh, who orders food in odd numbers?

! God really forgot to put some brain in this guy, or no this guy was just standing at the looks counter and didn’t bother to get brains.

I narrow my eyes at him while he keeps on smirking and Aria for some reason still looks amused! I look at her and think, what a backstabber! She smiles broadly at me. I roll my eyes.

She quickly exchanged our takeouts. As Kartik tries to leave, she speaks up, “Wait a second you still didn’t tell me how you know Samaira lives here?” She asks him, raising her eyebrows.

Oh, that’s right! How does he know where I live, is he a stalker? I’m about to say something when he cuts me off, “My best friend---” he gestured to a man standing behind him who was so silent you could hear a pin drop. “... lives downstairs, I believe Samaira has met him”

He says the last sentence a bit bitterly

Now I am confused, what’s up with this guy and his attitude?

"Aarush," he sighed, as though he was already weary of this conversation when Aarush still didn’t say a word.

Oh, right, Aarush – that cute guy. It was hard to believe he was Sugarcup's friend. Aarush had been so pleasant, unlike his friend, who was quite the opposite.

Seeing my realization, he continued, "You know who I'm talking about, don't you?"

Aria, always one to appreciate an attractive face, chimed in, "He is kinda cute but I’m worried he hasn’t spoken ever since he got here. Is he mute?"

Kartik chuckled, noting Aria’s reaction, "He does have his moments, especially when he's happy.

Too bad his personality doesn't match that adorable face.

I'll have to tell him that Cruella has a cute friend considering he seems to be zoned out.

" He winked at Aria, who blushed and beamed at the compliment, breaking the unspoken girl code that suggested she should dislike the same people I did.

Well, perhaps "dislike" was an exaggeration, but still.

Kartik and Aria exchanged the food bags and he hurriedly muttered his thanks, dragging his friend away who still hadn't spoken a word and made a quick exit from the house. Aria closed the door behind him, turning to me with a smile.

"Shall we eat?" she suggested.

I sighed inwardly, knowing that this lunch was going to be a long one!
