Chapter 13 The Flower Shop Memory
I'm stunned.
I follow his words and recall.
That flower shop in the south belongs to my cousin.
She knows I love Tianhe Fanxing, so she saves me a bouquet every week.
That day I saw a drenched boy wanting Tianhe Fanxing too.
He wore a cap. Face hidden.
But coming out in such heavy rain.
He must have been desperate.
So I told my cousin to give it to him.
Turns out that boy was Xie Nanchen.
There were signs.
Last year when our relationship heated up, he took me to the cemetery.
Xie Nanchen said Tianhe Fanxing was his mother's favorite flower when she was alive.
Thinking back, the day we met at the shop was her death anniversary.
I look at him. My chest aches faintly.
Xie Nanchen smiles.
"You were the school celebrity. Lots of people had crushes on you. I was just the most unnoticeable one."
"I didn't want to bother you. Just wanted a chance to thank you. But the more I paid attention, the deeper I fell. By the time I realized, I couldn't stop."
Some forgotten little things surface now.
During basketball games, as class rep I had to buy water for the players.
I was going to use a cart, but the last one was borrowed.
I was about to call someone when Xie Nanchen appeared in his jersey.
He'd just finished playing. Sweaty all over.
"I'll help."
Before I could say anything, he called a few classmates to carry it with me.
And not just once.
Another time during volleyball class, I ran into him.
He helped push a big basket of volleyballs out of the storage room.
I thought he was just helpful.
Turns out it was his way of saying thanks.
