CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE
“WHAT!?” screamed Luke. “No. Fuck no. Hell to the fucking no. I will not ask that.”
“Luke, we’ll all be there. We have to try,” said Joseph.
“You’re nuts. You’re all certifiable. What do you think he’s going to say?”
“Probably no, but we have to at least try,” said Rory.
“I’ll get them,” said Hex.
He sent a text message and the silence between the two teams was more than a little uncomfortable. When the screen filled with the faces they needed to see, Joseph cleared his throat.
“What’s up brother? I hear this shit in Ireland has y’all runnin’.”
“Uh, yes. Yes it does. But we found out what our ghost is looking for, or at least what he thinks he needs.”
“What’s that?” asked the man in the screen. Joseph stared directly at his wife. “You’ve lost your fucking mind.”
“Zulu, hear me out.”
“No,” he growled.
“Zulu, nothing will happen to her. The Hungarian told him to seek a human with silvery, shimmering hair and eyes so translucent you would drown in them. Their skin would be the palest of pearls, their mind so sharp it would shock any man.”
“No.”
“Zulu, you would be there. We will all be there. Don’t you get it?
He gave O’Shan a description of someone so improbable, he believed he was cursing the man for all eternity.
In fact, he cursed everyone in the whole damn area by giving him that description.
Not only could Gabi be that person; she could also explain that her blood will not help him at all. ”
“And what if he does get to her? What if he takes her like the others? Drags her to some secret hideaway that we can’t find her? Can you answer that Joseph?”
“You know, I’m sitting right here,” said Gabi.
“I can speak for myself. Now, it’s been shown that live humans have no real force with this man.
What if we brought others? Some of our own ghosts like Archie, Grip, and Eagle Feather?
They’re young, or were young when they died, and they may be able to fight him on his own level, so to speak. ”
“Babe,” frowned Zulu.
“She might have a point,” said Rory. “If she entered with ghosts protecting her, O’Shan wouldn’t know what to do. He’d have to fight them on their own sort of celestial level. Fuck me. I have no clue what I just said.”
The others all smirked at Rory, nodding at his confusion. But he was right. The other ghosts could help.
“Can they get off the property?” asked Gabi.
“They can,” said Luke. “They can travel with us to Ireland. We could have them ready and have you there by tomorrow.”
“We’re ready now,” said Eagle Feather. “We can help and we can protect Gabi. He cannot touch her if we are guarding her.”
“And what if he somehow gets through you? What then? My wife gets drained of her blood because we have a madman ghost!”
“Zulu, baby, my brave, strong warrior,” said Gabi stroking his face. “No one has ever let me down in this family, certainly not you. You will be there with me.”
“He doesn’t seem to be able to fight those with darker skin,” said Joseph. “Or at least he doesn’t want to fight them. We’ll make a plan that will ensure her escape, scratch free. I swear to you, if she is harmed, you can kill me on the spot.”
“I don’t want to kill you, Joseph,” said Zulu shaking his head. “I would want to kill that ghost but how do I do that when he’s already dead. I’d be left with no recourse for the death of my wife.”
“Stop talking about me dying!” yelled Gabi. “Listen, I’m going. This ghost is killing innocent people because of some crazy lunatic priest or pretend priest. I can stop this. We can prove to him that I’m not the solution.”
“How? How do you propose to do that?” asked Zulu.
“Simple. I don’t fit his criteria.”
