Epilogue
“Do you think she’ll like it?” Mack asks, wringing his hands together for the millionth time.
I’ve never seen the big guy look so nervous, not even during the draft.
After a wild season and a third NCAA championship under his belt, McKenzie Madden was drafted as the first overall pick to the Boston Blacktips.
We were all thrilled since Boston is less than a two hour drive from Sunday Harbor, which means we can be with Mack as often as our schedule allows.
The last eight months with Posey have been more incredible than I could have ever imagined. The sweet omega keeps us on our toes in the best ways, and she’s exactly what this pack needed to feel whole. And today, we make it official.
Keeping our new pack house secret from our omega has been hell, but it’ll all be worth it to see her face when she realizes it’s her dream home.
Lainey helped us get access to Posey’s Pinterest and anything she wanted, she got.
The white, two story beachfront home has light blue shutters and a pastel pink front door, not to mention flowers everywhere.
Mack and Paxton have been out here for over a month making everything picture perfect for our girl, but it never feels like enough.
Turning to Mack, I brush my sweaty hands on my jeans and do my best to make my smile look reassuring instead of nauseated.
I’m as nervous as he is, but someone has to keep it together.
“She’s going to love it. We’ve done everything exactly how she would want it, and if she doesn’t, then we change it until she does.
But we know her, Mack. And you know how badly she’s been wanting a pack house. ”
While the apartment was fine for a while, it got cramped very fast. The new pack house has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, including an attic nest with an en-suite.
It’s probably more space than we need, but one of those bedrooms and bathrooms is a separate guesthouse out back for when Posey’s family comes to visit.
Everyone has their own space this way, even if we’ll most likely end up in the nest or Posey’s room most nights.
The nest is the only thing we didn’t touch, wanting to finally have the nest building experience as a pack since Posey wasn’t able to have one at the apartment and she built hers before she met us.
My phone buzzes in my pocket, bringing me back to reality.
Parker
2 min. Ready?
Me
Ready.
“They’re two minutes out,” I inform Mack.
Poor guy looks like he’s about to keel over or vomit on the hydrangeas, so I take two large steps toward him until I can grip his arms and make him look at me.
“Feel your bond. Feel how happy she is,” I remind him.
At first it was strange getting used to having all of this lightness in my chest. After so long only having my own cynicism as company, Posey’s effervescent happiness is exactly what I didn’t know I needed.
I just have to brush along the bond in my mind or touch the bite mark on my neck and she sends back a pulse of joy that’s so pure I can’t help but smile.
Everyone around me noticed the change during my tenure as an adjunct professor, but they refuse to say anything for fear of me returning to my surly ways.
That’s fine by me. Now that I’ve graduated my only concern is my omega and our pack, and I hope they always know just how happy I am to have them.
Posey’s pretty blue Bronco rounds the bend in the road, Paxton at the wheel. I can’t see Parker or Posey which means he’s probably keeping her distracted in the backseat.
Lucky asshole.
It’s fine, because if all goes according to plan, Posey will be surrounded by all of us and naked except for one thing by the time the sun goes down.
As soon as they pull in the driveway, the back door pops open.
Parker leads a blindfolded Posey out, and we all watch on in amusement as she huffs and puffs, pretending to be irritated with the situation.
In reality, I feel her bursting with excitement through the bond.
Her pink hair is down in messy waves around her face, and she’s wearing a pretty white dress that makes her tan skin glow with sandals that make her a few inches taller than usual.
Our omega looks as beautiful as always, and a cursory glance around tells me we’re all smiling like the lovestruck idiots we proudly are.
“Okay, okay,” she giggles. “Where are we? Can I take this thing off now?”
Parker looks to me, and I nod. He whips the soft fabric away from her eyes with a flourish, and I have a front row seat to watch Posey’s eyes light up even as they water. “What is this?”
I hold my arms out wide, showing off the house. “Welcome home, little doll.”
Her hands fly up to cover her mouth as she gasps, taking in the house with more focus.
Rather than rent a pack house on campus, we decided as a pack to purchase a house nearby and make Maine our home base for the next few years.
Posey loves it here and while she was more than willing to transfer to be closer to our big guy, he begged her to stay here where she has a support system.
The twins’ parents and sister, Lainey, and even Mack’s parents are all here at least some of the time, and with her being so far away from her own family, we knew it was important to give her a home base.
When this house went on the market, we knew it was the one.
Renovations took a few months to complete and then we had to decorate and get everything just right, but now it’s summer, the flowers are blooming, and it’s a beautiful day to finally do what we’ve been waiting months for.
“We had some help,” Pax murmurs in her ear.
“But we wanted you to have a home here. A pack home for all of us, including Mack when he has down time or in the off season.” He’s wrapped his arms around her for support, while Mack and Parker are at my sides, eagerly awaiting her reaction.
Mack nods furiously. “I bought a little apartment in Boston, just barely big enough to fit us all, but I’ll be here every spare moment I can, and you’re welcome in Boston anytime, pretty girl.
Baseball is my passion and will be a wonderful career, but you are my home, Posey.
No matter how long I’m gone, wherever I am, my heart is with you. ”
Posey throws herself into Mack’s arms, sniffling, and I nod to him to lead us out back where the real surprise is.
“We’re excited for you to see the house, but we have something to show you in the backyard first, if that’s okay?
” I ask, stroking a soothing palm down her back.
She turns her head to smile at me, nodding silently.
I’m sure this is a lot to take in, but we’re not done just yet.
Posey
I have a house! My alphas bought us a freaking pack house and I had no idea.
When Parker coaxed me into a blindfold earlier, I just assumed I was in for a kinky ride and didn’t ask any questions.
Now I’m wishing I would have, then maybe I would have been at least semi-prepared for the onslaught of powerful emotions.
The house itself is absolutely magnificent.
Perched on a small private beach, the postcard worthy white house with its pink front door looks straight out of a Martha Stewart magazine.
Flowers bloom on either side of the stone walk leading to the most southern front porch I’ve ever seen on the East Coast. I briefly note the ceiling over the porch is even painted blue like my childhood home.
McKenzie doesn’t let me down for a moment, whispering sweet nothings in my ear as he carries me around the side of the house. When we finally stop, he sets me down and placed his large hands on my shoulders to turn me. What I see has another gasp flying from my lips.
There are posies everywhere.
A veritable field of wildflowers covers the backyard, but front and center is a gravel pathway that leads to a circle surrounded by posies and roses.
My feet carry me across the yard without conscious thought, and the sight is even more magnificent up close.
If I thought the front of the house was magical, the back is a freaking fairytale secret garden come to life.
Butterflies flit from flower to flower, never stopping at one for too long, while little bumblebees add a soothing buzz to the otherwise silent afternoon.
After a few moments of stunned silence where all I can do is stare at the beauty around me, my brain finally kicks back on.
I turn around to squeal at my alphas only to find each one of them down on one knee.
Tears immediately spring back to my eyes as I watch the alphas I love stare at me with unbridled devotion in their eyes.
Parker speaks first. “Flower, before we met I promised myself that if this day ever came I wouldn’t get all emotional about it because that’s Mack and Paxton’s job,” he sniffles.
“But then you came along. You and your boundless love and patience for my obsessive, slightly stalker-y ways, and that goddamn nose ring.” A watery giggle escapes me when he gives me a pointed look.
“I know we’re already bonded and proposing might seem a little redundant to some, but I would like to tie you to us in every possible way. ”
Jude goes next. “We all know I wasn’t the best version of myself when we met, little doll.
But you make me want to be. You blew into my life with your sweet scent and even sweeter personality, and knocked down every single wall I had built around myself.
” He chuckles lightly, an embarrassed tint on his cheeks.
“Pulling my head out of my ass was easy because when it comes down to it, the choice between a life without you and a life with you isn’t a choice at all.
You stole my heart without even trying, Primrose, and I hope I never get it back. ”
Paxton sniffles, gearing up for his turn to speak.
“I was the first of us to see you, and as soon as I caught a glimpse of that cotton candy hair and your perfect freckles, I knew. The smile on your face spelled mischief and joy all at once, and those are perfect words to describe you, sweetheart. When I dreamed of my perfect omega, she was always this faceless person that was kind of like me. Shy and quiet and a little withdrawn. But you? God, Posey. You are my every unrealized dream come true. You’re better than I could have ever imagined, and I love you so much.
I hope I get to spend the rest of our lives being in awe of you.
Tears are streaming down my cheeks, and they only get worse when I see the matching trails of tears on McKenzie’s face as he begins to speak in a strangled voice.
“I loved you from the moment I scented you, pretty girl. And if I had known then what I know now? I would have scooped you up and never put you back down. But I couldn’t have known, because every single day I find a new facet of you to adore.
We cherish every single thing about you, Posey.
From your innate kindness that you share with everyone you meet, to your exuberant happiness that makes you glow from the inside out, to the unconditional love you showed to a pack of lost alphas looking for their home.
I love you doesn’t feel like enough to properly encompass what we feel for you, and I’m not sure if we’ll ever find the words.
So instead, let us ask you a question.” I choke back sobs as he holds out a tiny pink velvet box, opening it to reveal the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen.
A large pear cut stone sits on a gold band that was made to look like twisted vines studded with sporadic pink stones, each holding a leaf with green stones.
It looks like someone took pink posies and made them into a ring.
“Will you marry us?”
I’m nodding before they even finish the question and throw myself at them, confident that one of my alphas will catch me.
I land sprawled in Jude’s lap as McKenzie slips the ring on my finger with a reverence that only has me crying harder.
All four alphas shower me with kisses and whispered words of love and praise as our scents combine to create the perfect representation of home.
The next few years while I finish school are uncertain.
With McKenzie off living his dream, Jude starting his career, and the twins graduating before me, things are bound to change, but with these men by my side?
I’ve never looked forward to uncertainty more.
We may not have a guide to forever, but this omega had the perfect guide to falling in love.
