“Yes, my very advanced scientific brain has developed a way to make the Vortex Two, which is in production, travel at least fifteen percent quicker than Vortex One.”
“Thank goodness for your very advanced scientific brain.” I smile and run my fingers into his hair, rub around the base of his horns.
He sighs softly and closes his eyes. His tail that was hovering slowly lowers.
“But you’re home now, time to relax.” I press my lips to his.
He returns the kiss, and it quickly heats up as he reaches for my buttocks and cups them to pull me closer.
I sigh and am glad the day has passed so we can be together again.
“I nearly forgot,” he says, pulling back.
“What?” I frown. I’d showered and prepared in anticipation of us continuing with our breeding program.
“This.” He pulls a purple piece of card from his pocket.
“What is it?” I ask, taking it. “An invitation?”
“Apparently, not that I have seen one like that before, usually invitations, or meeting proposals, come via the thread.”
“Well this is a very traditional way of sending an invitation and it’s not usually for a business meeting.” I study the words.
King Athos and Queen Visha would like to cordially invite Tr-Argon and Rachel Victoria Talbot to a royal dinner on Saturday at sundown.
R.S.V.P.
“The king and queen have invited us for dinner,” he says. “I do not know what to make of it.”
“I do. It’s an invite, for a social occasion. I can’t understand why us, I don’t know Visha, I mean Her Majesty.”
“But I know the king, he tells me I am one of the best science minds.”
“I am sure he does.” I stroke his cheek. “We need to reply.”
“Do you want to go?”
“Dinner at the palace?” I widen my eyes. “Of course! We’d be crazy not to?”
“What if he wants me to take on more work?”
“A dinner party isn’t like that, it’s for fun, to be together, with friends.”
He sighs. “I have no understanding of this concept, didn’t we just have a party in Mimis?”
“Yes, but this is a smaller gathering, you will see.”
He shrugs and goes to the cooler unit. “I have no idea what R.S.V.P. means?”
“I do, it means we have to tell them that we accept the invitation.”
I smile as confusion spreads on his face.
“It just does.” I grin and rub my hands together.
What to wear? Who else will be there? What will we eat?
And how is Visha now? She was wild when we’d landed.
Skittish, horrified, extremely regretful, and now she was hosting a royal dinner party.
I can hardly contain my excitement.
