Chapter 20 - Epilogue
Courtney – POV
Five years later ...
Sitting on the large rocking chair, I am struck by how perfect my life has turned out.
The cool November weather feels wonderful against my heated skin as I watch from the shade of my wraparound porch at my family playing in the yard.
Ava, who was now ten, had our oldest child, Blaise and his sister, Penelope in her little cottage house that sat beside the massive oak tree, no doubt playing teacher. That hideous pink pot with 'eyes' filled with little white daisy's by the door of her little house.
Thane had built her a massive treehouse, but since her cousins were too small to climb up the stairs, she liked to play in the little house beside it, leaving the treehouse for her and Ethan to play in.
Thane was sitting by the duck pond with our third and youngest boys, Mason and Sebastian, as they scooted around, trying to catch one of the many ducklings swimming around.
When Thane found out I was pregnant the first time, I think some sort of caveman switch was flipped, because the man has kept me pregnant ever since, saying how much he loves me rounded and filled out, but I warned him that this was the last pregnancy … at least for a while.
I wanted to be able to see my feet and go a few months without having to stop at every single restroom I came across.
Although as I sat back, smiling at my beautiful family, I loved every second of our lives and wouldn't trade it for the world.
When Thane looked over, I curled my finger asking him to come have a seat next to me. He doesn’t wait.
He immediately scooped up our two boys and brought them up onto the porch and put them down to play with their toys.
“Hello, my beautiful wife,” he whispered as he bent down and kissed me before he sat on the love seat next to me.
I looked over and smiled as he held my hand his fingers twisting and turning the massive ring he bought me.
I slowly stood up and straddled his lap, running my fingers over his growing smirk.
“I love you, Thane Barrows. I loved you when we first met, and I love you more now than ever and I know that it will only grow as each day passes.”
I leaned in to kiss him, grateful my belly hasn’t grown big enough to be completely in the way.
“I was lost, and then, love found me. I wasn’t prepared for you but, God, I am so happy that you were there,” I press my fingers around his neck, “that you are still here.”
“I will always be here, honey, always. For you, for Ava, for our kids. Always.”
I leaned back, pulling his hands from around my waist and laid them on my stomach. “That’s wonderful to hear, because I’m going to need all the help I can get with triplets.”
I watched the emotions race across his face as his hands caressed my stomach. “Triplets,” he whispered. He pulled me against his chest, “fuck, you make me so damn happy, honey.”
“Not as happy as you make me,” I said, kissing him slowly.
“Ugh, their kissing… again.” Blaise whined, coming up the steps holding onto Ava and Penny’s hand.
“I’s want kisses, too,” Penny squealed as she raced to climb up next to us.
Soon, Thane and I were sitting side by side with Penny sitting on our laps, resting her head on our shoulders. Ava curled up next to Thane, holding Bastian in her lap, while Blaise stood on the couch against my side with Mason climbing over my lap.
Kissing all my kids, I leaned back and smiled.
Life was perfect.
